Kabul, Afghanistan (CNN) - More than two dozen American troops are believed to have died in the deadly helicopter crash in eastern Afghanistan on Saturday, a U.S. military official told CNN.
President Barack Obama issued a statement expressing his condolences to the families of the troops.
"My thoughts and prayers go out to the families and loved ones of the Americans who were lost earlier today in Afghanistan," Obama said. "We also mourn the Afghans who died alongside our troops in pursuit of a more peaceful and hopeful future for their country."

I`d like to hear a "pro-active" foriegn affairs plan from Mr. Perry or Mr. Romney, or Ms. Bachmann, on Iran, North Korea, or Somalia. Prove to me that you have the foresight and the capability for "original thought" required of the Presidency. Do something other than try to make Obama fail. Show me what your detailed plan is. What a tragedy! bring all those brave men and women back home they need the a rest after Bushes two unfunded wars.
I hope others will follow Obama's example of prayer and realize there is nothing wrong or scary about prayer.
Quite a problem here folks - the republicans/baggers WILL allow us to pay troops a very small salary, but they will NOT allow the money to be spent on hiring them once they leave the military.
Our young people are pawns to be used to keep the wealthy kids home and safe.
You can bet, someone in the Afghan forces, leaked the info, on that operation, to the Taliban.
