WASHINGTON (CNN) - President Barack Obama will make a statement to reporters Monday about the downgrade of the U.S. credit rating and the loss of U.S. service members, including 22 Navy SEALs, killed in Afghanistan over the weekend, a White House official said.
The comments are scheduled for 1 p.m. ET at the White House.

Sorry, not me. Pulled EVERYTHING out of the markets the week before it tanked. This was a VERY foreseeable train wreck. The revision of the growth to .3% was as clear as the nose on your face the economy is heading down. The Democrats refusal to face the reality of our financial condition showed the world we'll continue over the cliff and into the abys. To all those still in the market... Cut your loses, GET OUT NOW!!! There is NO upside to this market until the Democrats are removed from office in 2012.

To the people asking for the President's resignation. Please stop drinking the "stupidity cola"! I did not here this during 2008 when the markets collapsed so I would expect the same. I did not hear any debate or whinning by Bachman, Boner, or anyone in the GOP when the debt ceiling was rasied several times under Bush. Why is it different now – hint: A president who actually is trying to work for the people. The fact that he does not look like any other President also plays a role.
Never in my life have I seen such a toxic environment. We are a joke to other countries b/c we simply cannot get past simple issues and work together on solutions.
Rational thought will always prevail over ingnorance and anger. This downgrade is not good but we have been duped by pols who say they are for the people when they actually serve special interests and their own ambitions. If the debt deal had revenue increases we would not be in this mess. Blame should go to the obstructions (Boner, McConnell aka Scooby, Norvquist, and the tea party). They all should should and accept the blame. If they act like they have nothing to do with it then we as the people should ignore their lies and hold them accountable.
