Obama to make statement on S&P downgrade, Afghan copter crash

WASHINGTON (CNN) - President Barack Obama will make a statement to reporters Monday about the downgrade of the U.S. credit rating and the loss of U.S. service members, including 22 Navy SEALs, killed in Afghanistan over the weekend, a White House official said.

Obama needs to stand up and lead instead of worrying about bipartisanship. I voted for you because I thought you'd be an advocate for the middle class. Instead you've bent over backwards trying to appease the tea party terrorists and they will never be satisfied.

Just stay quiet, Obama – the markets are already crashing. Words from the TOTUS are only going to make things worse.

Let me guess what he will say: "it is Bush's fault"

only Ron Paul will have the ability to follow the constitution and restore this once great nation that has been on this path of economic and monetary destruction for the past 100 yrs through printing money.

Obama will just create more class and race warfare through the media. and as I see above calling peolpe terrorists b/c they care about unborn future generations who will suffer these consequences of terrible progressive policies.

by the way- how many democrats voted against the debt deal last monday? are they terrorists too? educate yourselves.

And with S&P's blatant math errors and now its almost immediate downgrade of Fannie and Freddie following their fuzzy math nonsense (read Krugman...S&P is out in left field just fabricating complete nonsense to justify the downgrade while Moody's and Fitch hold us at AAA still), I think we can safely assume they are out for revenege. S&P is going to start a self-fulfilling prophecy situation in hopes of destroying Fannie and Freddie..just watch.

Sorry, not me. Pulled EVERYTHING out of the markets the week before it tanked. This was a VERY foreseeable train wreck. The revision of the growth to .3% was as clear as the nose on your face the economy is heading down. The Democrats refusal to face the reality of our financial condition showed the world we'll continue over the cliff and into the abys. To all those still in the market... Cut your loses, GET OUT NOW!!! There is NO upside to this market until the Democrats are removed from office in 2012.

Well this explains a LOT. You read and believe Krugman. This guy has to be the biggest lunatic on the planet. Why would these people "be out for revenge"??? This is pure paranoia. The other agencies are in the process of reviewing the USA for a downgrade. It is entirely possible they will downgrade the USA as well. And Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac ARE bankrupt!!! Haven't we gotten nailed with nearly $200 BILLION in bailout money for these crooks? You and other lefties need to get a grip on REALITY.

America needs to wake up. We want to blame the problems of this country solely on the president. If the American people would rise up, unite and if need be march on washington then maybe we could change this. We need a revolution instead of throwing our hands up and blaming politicians. Its our obligation to let our government know how pissed we are. If this means mass protests across the country then that is our duty and god given right! Presidential nominees are hand picked by the wealthy and the mainstream media only talks about those candidates that have been selected by the elite. Thats why no one knows who Ron Paul is or about what he stands for. He's a republican but even the GOP won't endorse him because he wants what the people of America wants. Stop policing the world, take down the FED and restructure the tax laws so that manufacturers will bring jobs back to America. If you think the government and media are corrupt and provide nothing but propaganda then vote for Ron Paul. If you think its time to stop this war that has been draining our resources then vote for Ron Paul. If you want real change and not "Obama's real change" then vote for Ron Paul!

  21. "The GOP biggest deception is getting the Poor and Middle class to believe they are out to help them"

LOL...you people are NUTS!!! Ray Charles (who has passed by the way) can see what all this blocking of this and that by Republicans/teabangers is about!!! This all has to do with the GOP wanting to get him out of Office and they will do anything to get it done!!! People better wake up because this is real and not a movie or a TV show!! Behind the scene those with money will do what ever it takes to get power. You can bet on that!! Do you think the stuff they did to Clinton was a joke? I mean really they move from investigating about by Whitewater to SEX!! REALLY? So you think they would not do what ever to get something on the current President who knows the games they are playing and hasn't given them a chance to do a scandal? WAKE UP FOLKS!! They will Tank the Country to get what the want!!!

    Hooo boy....

At a going rate of $1500 per ounce (hovering at $1700 today), our $14 Trillion debt equates to 4.667 million TONS of gold. Got a Plan 'B'?

Correction to previous math error – should have read 260 thousand tons of gold. Still quite depressing.

To the people asking for the President's resignation. Please stop drinking the "stupidity cola"! I did not here this during 2008 when the markets collapsed so I would expect the same. I did not hear any debate or whinning by Bachman, Boner, or anyone in the GOP when the debt ceiling was rasied several times under Bush. Why is it different now – hint: A president who actually is trying to work for the people. The fact that he does not look like any other President also plays a role.

Never in my life have I seen such a toxic environment. We are a joke to other countries b/c we simply cannot get past simple issues and work together on solutions.

Rational thought will always prevail over ingnorance and anger. This downgrade is not good but we have been duped by pols who say they are for the people when they actually serve special interests and their own ambitions. If the debt deal had revenue increases we would not be in this mess. Blame should go to the obstructions (Boner, McConnell aka Scooby, Norvquist, and the tea party). They all should should and accept the blame. If they act like they have nothing to do with it then we as the people should ignore their lies and hold them accountable.
