(CNN) - Texas Gov. Rick Perry will be joined by his family in South Carolina this weekend for a major speech in which he will strongly signal his intention to run for president, two GOP sources told CNN.
Perry is not expected to make a formal campaign announcement on Saturday in Charleston, but people familiar with the planning say that Perry's speech to the RedState Gathering, a convention of conservative activists, will erase any doubt about his presidential ambitions.
During his visit to the key early primary state, Perry will also meet privately with dozens of South Carolina Republican leaders. Perry will then travel to New Hampshire where he will meet with party activists there.
The Texas governor has been meeting with donors and talking to activists in key caucus and primary states for weeks as he lays groundwork for a potential campaign.
A formal declaration of candidacy is expected sometime before Labor Day, but Perry's advisers have not revealed a specific announcement date.

The country did so well after the last governer from Texas - Not! This one has demonstrated that he is too close to violating laws seperating religion and state. I find that worrisome because a country such as ours should not be allowed to have a state religion because there are so many here.

I'm sorry Governor Perry would not prove to be a good GOP candidate. The state's budget is $20 billion in the red, low education numbers across the board, and he either dodges debates or simply fails at them.

Okay okay good.... Please make sure to keep religion and politic separated. If you want to talk religion, just go somewhere like a church or private room. If you want to talk politic, go to a public place like city hall or capital hill to express your views. Please keep separated religion/politic on your mind when doing anything in public.
