Trump: If I were treasury secretary...

(CNN) - Donald Trump responded Monday to Mike Huckabee's suggestion that he serve as treasury secretary, predicting who would be hurt most by the potential appointment.

"I'll tell you, it would be very painful for China, it would be very painful for OPEC, it would be very painful for many of the countries that are just ripping us off," the real estate mogul said on Fox News.

Former Arkansas Gov. Huckabee, who first made the suggestion last week, reiterated his call Monday morning, saying current Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner has "failed the economy and failed this president."

"The president needs to have him walk the plank, if not for policy reasons, he needs to do it for the political optics," Huckabee said on Fox News. "And bringing Donald Trump in is a real optical game changer."

Geithner announced Sunday he would remain in his post through the 2012 election.

Although Trump seemingly dismissed the suggestion, he showered Huckabee, the former 2008 GOP presidential candidate, with praise.

"I think he would have gotten the nomination personally [in 2012], but you know he had lots of considerations," Trump said. "So, he said that, I'm greatly honored."

Huckabee and Trump decided against bids for the White House earlier this year after public flirtations. Criticism of China and OPEC were oft-heard lines from Trump as he traveled to early presidential voting states mulling a bid.

This is how Democrats keep getting elected and why our country and many states are bankrupt.
Damn Day, you are as dumb as the day is long. Why is the country short on revenue? Let me clue you in - GWB is the only idiot in history that decided to get his war chest in order by......CUTTING taxes. That makes sense in your world I guess, but you just embody what I said about low-information voters. Meanwhile, revenues compared to GDP are at historical lows. Not an opinion my slow friend, this is fact. Being poor not by one's choice is now a crime in this country according to you. Please reconcile that with your party's holier than thou bible-thumping when it's convenient for them.
You are long on GOTP talking points, and alarmingly short on common sense and factual data. History is not on your side: unfunded wars, unfunded Rx plans, unfunded tax cuts, TARP. The financial reckoning started way back chief - back when we were told deficits don't matter....

I say let him. RIght now. Carte blanche. The economy is yours, Mr. Trump.

I would then fully expect him to produce what he's saying he will, no excuses.

There's a reason he talks about all this, but refuses to run for any office: he's full of it, and he knows it. It's much easier to TALK a good game than to actually PLAY one. He's an armchair fiscal quarterback, and it's a Monday.

Trump is a blowhard, and moreover, he's a failure! The man went bankrupt with casinos! Do you have any idea how hard that is to do? Why do people still look at this guy like he knows something about business? All he ever does is run them into the ground and shoot off his mouth. He's a lot of noise with no track record to back it up.

In fact, if Donald Trump had just put all the money he got from his father into CDs and never done anything else with it, he'd be four times richer than he is from all his business ventures! He'd have made four times the money by doing nothing! He's no financial whiz.

The following is Mr. Trump's stated plan (both in this article and in other publications" for fixing the current economic conditions, including the high unemployment, lack of investor confidence, mounting debt, and a disappearing stability of the U.S. Treasury and Federal Reserve:
    " ." ****
**** Said plan has been previously co-opted by Michele Bachmann, Mitt Romney, Newt Gingrich, Rick Santorum, Mike Huckabee, Jon Huntsman Jr., Hermain Cain, John Boehner, Sarah Palin, and others. Copyright conflicts are pending.
