Obama attends dignified transfer of service members from downed copter

WASHINGTON (CNN) – President Barack Obama and top Pentagon officials including Defense Secretary Leon Panetta and Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Adm. Mike Mullen are attending Tuesday's dignified transfer ceremony for 38 U.S. and Afghan personnel killed on board a helicopter shot down in Afghanistan over the weekend.

Two planes carrying the remains landed at Dover Air Force Base in Delaware on Tuesday morning, according to Pentagon spokesman Col. Dave Lapan.

At what time was the transfer of dead military personnel not dignified. Is "dignified" a code word for photographers not to scamper around like bugs taking pictures of family members who may be present.

Bush did this on several occations, and it was considered to be an strong act of patriotism.

He should be there for God's sake. If he had kept it CONFIDENTIAL about the Bin Laden killing by the Navy Seals...maybe they would have NOT BEEN A TARGET!!! Proud Marine Mom

Let's ALL try to imagine how peaceful the world was BEFORE the little man from Texas (with no home training) came to Washington.

    May our brave soldiers RIP.

I would never want the deaths of any US soldiers politicized. However, it's interesting that President Obama waived the ban on media coverage for returned coffins immediately after he became President, BUT now that it's under his own watch...the ban is BACK ON!!

And how does cnn cover this...they call it "dignified". Yes, it is dignified and I'm happy with the decision. He should have done the same thing back in Feb 2009.

  11. The Day of Financial Reckoning is HERE - The Great Democrat Welfare Society Ends

A very sad day. A lot of great brave Americans died (as well as some Afghans fighting for their country) going to help save their fellow Americans who were pinned down.

I have to wonder though, this is not the first time this has happened. The enemy has picked up on our patterns of behavior and seems to be sitting in wait for the soon to come reinforcements from the air. These large slow helicopters might not be the best way to go into a live fire zone.

As Commander-in-Chief President Obama should be there to receive these fallen soldiers, and offer a word of comfort to their families.
I was so saddened to hear of their death even though this is the byproduct of war.
May God rest their souls and look after their families.

I felt sad for this warriors to think that they risk their life for freedom like freedom for the teapublican to continuously spew their hate for America America which this Honorable Soldiers and their pilots stands for. Shame on on the right and your allays you should not show your face in their wake you don't deserve their sacrifice with the way you are destroying the country that they gave up their lives for.
