    Hold the line guys and get REAL CUTS! Don't get snookered by the Democrats and their fake "cuts", aka reductions in the increase in spending that keeps us on a path to bankruptcy.

    98% was a huge win for the Boehner deal so he better make sure he has picked the best so his downgrade can become an upgrade.

    So I guess the GOP committee members are going to listen to the information that's been coming out lately that a majority of Americans want the rich to pay higher taxes.....riiiiight. So much for "the will of the people" for these T-B'ers, at least when it comes to their issues.

    This is all a fruitless exercise. We all know that Republicans will not compromise. Get ready for automatic cuts in 2013. The only saving grace is that the Bush tax cuts will expire at the end of 2012, which will increase revenue by 3.6 trillion for the next ten years and end our fiscal crisis. Democrats, you need to let the WHOLE Bush tax cuts expire. Republicans will never allow you to keep only the Bush tax cuts for people making less than $250,000. They will play the hostage game again, and force you to keep the Bush tax cuts for people making over $250,000. You need to let the whole thing go.

    Right, because WI citizens exercising their right to hold recall elections, which is part of the WI constitution, that's not ok at all and they should have to pay for exercising that right if they're only able to kick out 2 of 6 of the incumbents. Ridiculous.

    The only untoward expense created during the whole mess was the additional $400,000 it cost WI for the recall elections as a result of the GOP using fake Dems to force primaries to take place instead of just allowing the elections to move forward.

    And if you think the GOP managing by the skin of its teeth to keep control of WI's legislature is a huge and decisive win, then you're not paying attention. Dems booted 2 GOPers and lost a 3rd election by a very VERY close margin despite it being a heavily GOP district. It was a very successful shot across the WI GOP's bow and the GOP will ignore it and rationalize the overall result as a huge mandate to continue the types of policies that caused it at their own peril...altho that will predictably be precisely what they do.

    What a waste of tax payer money! IF the House "leader" were listening to the 59% of Americans who DISAPPROVE of Congress, he would not need yet another committee! Hey Boehner here is a list of CUTS for you!

    Cut ALL Foreign Aid, yeah... even to Israel
    Cut YOUR SALARIES!
    Cut the Military Budget - end the Bush Wars that will SAVE TRILLIONS!

    END the Bush Tax Cuts to the wealthiest, those making OVER $250K (I don't know of any small business that earns that much money!)
    END the TAX CUTS FOR BIG OIL...... THEY SHOULD PAY THEIR FAIR SHARE!

    For those Conservatives that are Christians, you know that Jesus said "to whom much is given much is asked." The answer is not to cut Medicare, nor Special programs for the poorest among us, nor cut education. The answer is to have EVERYONE PAYING THEIR FAIR SHARE OF TAXES!

    Anthony, the tax cuts for those making less than $250k DID expire on December 31, 2010. Having no dependents, my husband & I saw a $150 a month tax increase. You're now paying 2 percentage points less toward your FICA – 5.675% vs. 7.675 than you used to pay. When THAT temporary "tax cut" expires, working Americans are going to feel it.

    Anybody else notice that when the annnouncement was made the DOW plummetted again? Guess they see more gridlock coming. What a helluva mess the baggers are causing this country - especially with the Norquist pledge they all signed. When did we appoint Norquist our Almighty God and King? I must have slept late that day.

    @Malory Archer

    You're wrong. There was NO tax increase the end of 2010. You've been watching too much FOX. In fact, that's when the Bush Tax Cuts were EXTENDED UNTIL THE END OF 2012.

    Malory Archer,

    I know that people will get hurt when the tax cuts expire. But people get hurt from the spending cuts too. And the spending cuts will keep coming when spending approved by Congress exceeds revenue by 1.5 trillion. Rather than dying from a thousand cuts, it is time for Democrats to make a stand. The only way Republicans will compromise is if they have something to lose.

    1) end the Bush Wars that will SAVE TRILLIONS!
    2) END the Bush Tax Cuts to the wealthiest, those making OVER $250K
    3) END the TAX CUTS FOR BIG OIL...... THEY SHOULD PAY THEIR FAIR SHARE!
    4) The answer is to have EVERYONE PAYING THEIR FAIR SHARE OF TAXES!
    ================================================================

    1) Bush not in office any longer. Obama is. He has been responsible for continuing them. In fact he has INCREASED troops and spending in Afghanistan by triple. PLEASE accept responsibility.

    2) Extension was passed by Democrats and signed by Obama. They are now the Obama tax cuts to the wealthiest. PLEASE accept responsibility.

    3) "BIG OIL" does pay BILLIONS in taxes (think I saw $51 billion). It also employees thousands and thousands of employees who also pay taxes and get benefits like healthcare. They also pay their shareholders who then have to pay taxes on the dividends. I do think they pay their "fair share". How much do you expect them to pay?

    4) I agree whole heartedly that EVERYBODY should pay their fair share of taxes. WHY do nearly 50% of the people in this country pay no federal income tax??? When is this heinous injustice going to be addressed??? I'm sure these people can contribute something to help their country.

    REAL CUTS? Yeah, like what? For example tax cuts to big oil and the ultra rich? That would be great! But I highly doubt you mean that, as, your posts are usually lacking in non-partisan perspicacity.

    Aaaw, and the middle-class and poor were just getting over their wrists being rubbed raw by the hostage ropes last time. Well, get ready to resume the position. These ideologue GOPers are going to tie you to a chair and hold a gun to the economy's head all over again. GOP standard operating procedure is now established: threaten the middle-class and poor with economic destruction at every opportunity in an attempt to force everyone to accept their ideolgical, plutocratic agenda for the benefit of the rich and corporations.

    Did Boo-Hoo the empty Teacup cry when he announced his selection?
    Did he at least check with the Teatards at the gate for approval?
    Useless, spineless puppet. We can only hope that the people he appointed have some knowledge of how bipartisanship is really supposed to work.
