(CNN) – Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell on Wednesday named Sens. Jon Kyl of Arizona, Pat Toomey of Pennsylvania and Rob Portman of Ohio as his three Senate GOP picks for the special congressional committee that will negotiate further deficit reduction steps.
This is a joke. Both Beaker and Boehner picked staunch ideological conservatives who pledged their loyalty to Norquist over the country. They're not even remotelyk serious about finding compromise. Meanwhile, Cantor is busy whipping the Teatroll Caucus into a frothy line-in-the-sand fury over the prospect of a possible compromise on revenue increases, despite economists and the clear majority of Americans demanding it...not to mention S&P citing the lack of revenue increases as part of its justification for the credit downgrade.
This is all just another setup for taknig the economy and middle-class hostage as Beaker promised would be the new standard operating procedure for the GOP in order to serve its rich and corporate masters. The GOP does not want to govern, it wants to RULE. These picks indicate that they are not serious, have no intention of participating in good faith and are still simply attempting to block economic recovery, keep unemployment high and punich the middle-class in hopes of using the economy to defeat Obama. They have learned NOTHING from the polls in response to their behavior on the original debt ceiling battle...those polls don't say what they want to hear, so they are ignoring them completely.
Pssssssh. The GOP acting like they are about us. Good try but: FAIL!
Democrat terrorism is trying the destroy the country through massive debt and over spending.
Sen. McConnell openly admitted that holding the country hostage worked better than expected, and it as 'tool' they will have to use again.
The annual deficit has risen to over $1T exactly as the CBO predicted they would a decade after the Bush Tax Cuts were enacted. If McCain were in the White House, we would still have 13 figure deficits, and they would be higher than what they are now due to even higher unemployment than what we currently have.
Remember, the GOTP plan in early 2009 was don't do anything. "Let the markets correct themselves." While jobs continued to bleed away at 700,000 per month.
Mr. Jon "...not intended to be a factual statement" Kyl is a mistake: the guy does not intend to be right in the first place. (paraphrasing Stephen Colbert.)
Nothing is going to be accomplished until the US is turned into a third world country. Then the rich bastards at the BIS, the world bank, the IMF and the bilderbergs and all the other moneyed groups are going to find out that once they have all they want, that is the nightmare they thought they were avoiding. Without at least one strong free economy the world will be in total chaos and the ultra rich will become targets for the starving masses.
This is easily solved. The Democrats should select the Republicans for the committee, and vice versa. I guarantee they'd get a lot more done.
McConnell’s intentions are clear to everyone now and he now has NO credibility on anything .
His only agenda is to make Obama a one term President, at Any cost.
This man is a detriment to the process and is causing more chaos to the Congress than anyone else!
