Iowa GOP Chair: Palin has work to do in the state

Washington (CNN) – Iowa GOP Chairman Matt Strawn said former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin better get to work in Iowa if she wants to run for president.

"This isn't the type of process where you can give speeches to thousands, or you can be behind 30-second ads or even Facebook posts," Strawn said in an interview on CNN's "John King, USA" Thursday. "You need to be on the ground, letting Iowans look you in the eye and kick the tires."

The 2008 Republican vice presidential nominee hasn't announced a White House bid, but she made news Wednesday when confirming that her "One Nation" bus tour will roll into the Iowa State Fair this weekend.

The Hawkeye state hosts the first caucus in the 2012 primary and caucus calendar.

"She needs to do those things that have proven what you need to do to be successful in the Iowa caucuses, which is get here and actually let the voters ask tough questions," Strawn said.

Palin will be in Iowa during a crucial weekend for the 2012 presidential field. The second presidential debate takes place Thursday night in Ames, a city that's also home to the high-stakes straw poll on Saturday.

While she hasn't thrown her hat in the ring, Palin has remained at the forefront of recent political issues, weighing in on the debt deal and Standard and Poor's downgrade of the U.S. credit rating through media appearances and posts on her Facebook page.

She is there to make sure Bachman doesn't copy her style. I can't take her whiny shrill of a voice.

Is Mrs. Palin a car or a truck?

I'd like her to just jump into the race (and drowned because she hurt McCain so bad) and realize that she doesn't understand what is really going on in the country.

Sarah Palin is a pathetic, narccissistic, air headed, bimbo. However, she came to Texas to campaign for Rick Perry for
Governor, and look for her to join his team very soon. This is what she has been hanging on for, and being the loser
that she is, she will gladly settle for being Perry's mouthpiece (as only she can be), collect her money, and pretend to
be a "King maker". When the people of the press, at least those with journalistic integrity, start digging into how
Perry "balanced the budget", the types of employment he supposedly raked in for Texas, his connection with big oil,
his claim that he lowered property taxes, when, in fact they will go up again, this year, as they have, for us at least,
every year for the past 10 years, his so-called Christian associates, like the ones he invited to his "Prayer"
nonsense, neither one will come out smelling like a rose. One thought, however, to those who make fun of his
praying for rain, and it not working. I'm praying for rain too, because the deer, squirrels, birds (easy to feed),
rabbits, etc are desperate for food and we can only feed so many, but luckily we have water from our wells.
So, please pray for rain, if not for us, at least for the suffering animals and those losing their businesses and
homes, and yes, the potential for more fire damage. Nothing to do with Perry, just a desperate need.

These Iowa people are really full of themselves aren't they? They act as if the rest of the nation need not vote because they already decided who will be president for us.

Running a successful campaign is complicated. As evidence of Palin's intellectual deficiencies, having already been on a national ticket as veep, she still doesn't understand the requirements and complexities of an effective campaign. It's all a high school prom function to her.

All of those who really believe that Sarah is running for President should STOP taking those "Stupid Pills" every day. She is NOT running and her goal is to make money and UPSET the process. In the end, she will endorse someone and rally behind them..........Case and Point!!!

I wonder whether all these ridiculous farm subsidies are tied to the fact that Iowa somehow is the most important state for the primary and caucus calendar? Why not rotate a bit? The system sucks!

Sorry Chairman Strawn, no need to "kick the tires" if you know they're all flat.

Palin blew the tires when she decided her own self interests–or should I say, selfish self interests–were more important than the people of Alaska. Why would we expect anything different if she were President?

Palin's life seems replete with vacuous, half-hearted endeavors. Her college education was breezy and unremarkable; her Governorship was, well, she quit half term; her preparation to become vice president lacked depth, breadth, any dimension whatsoever, and she can't seem to commit to the presidential race.

Who in their right mind would take this carpetbagger seriously?! If you find yourself drawn to this women, just double your medication.

She does not want to run for President. She just appears when she knows there will be a lot of cameras. She likes to draw attention to herself and away from the pitiful ot that the Repubs have running for President. And the media jump all over it.She is the nightmare that just wont go away!!!! Thanks John McCain for unleashing her on us.

I agree with Strawn (barf) on his take on the quitter from AK but "thousands"? She is not packing them in like she used to. Case in point that movie of hers that only made about $100,000 and when she was last in Iowa the only ones following her around like love sick disgusting idiots was the media.

The "twit of twitter" won't show because she can't and won't deal with the tough questions. She doesn't have a clue about the answers and besides, it doesn't pay enough.

    Some meanings of rogue:

deceiver, defrauder, dodger, double-dealer, falsifier, forger and fraud. Gouger is another.

She's just being her usual party crasher and trying to garner all the attention for herself. She is doing nothing more than destroying the GOP by her behavior. I just don't get what her minions see in her. She is an empty vessel with nothing to contribute to this country.

Ya think maybe some day the gullible will finally figure this woman out???? She's played people for suckers ever since her VP failure with the aide and assistance of headline grabbing media and gotten rich in the process. PT Barnum had people like her pegged years ago – " every crowd has a silver lining."

Anyone that takes the strategy to *hide* behind the myth that they aren't running, so as not to have to answer the tough questions, is not presidential material.
