(CNN) - With little good news coming out of Wall Street or Washington, President Barack Obama plans to tout his administration's role in an economic renaissance percolating along the west coast of Michigan during a scheduled visit Thursday.
It will be Obama's second visit to Holland, an emerging hub for hybrid car battery technology. Until recently, it was best known for sugar-white Lake Michigan beaches and its annual tulip festival.
I went to see the President a few months back at one of his visits. It was standing room only, over capacity. People were standing literally shoulder to shoulder. Compare that to the Republican candidates' crowds – all one demographic, less than 100 in total, sitting in lawn chairs usually because they can't stand any longer – and most like have lost most of their hearing, all clapping at the mention of a downgrade or a fear-mongering talking point. No way for any of these candidates to pull a national election...

That's nice. But, it is China who is the world's leading manufacturer of batteries for hybrid and electric cars. They use technology developed right here in the United States, which was then later exported to China for manufacturing.
Pretty soon companies are going to figure out that they run the risk of getting seriously burned by exporting so much of their manufacturing oversears. The political climate in those countries could change and their facilities nationalized or destroyed; i.e. Iran 1979, Phillipines 1986.
Even better, their technology can just be simply patriated or otherwise stolen. Exactly that scenario has what seems to have occured to Apple, who makes their I-Stuff in China. Chinese clones of Apple Stores have begun popping up in China selling work-alike devices to Apple products.
Really??? Obama, how's your buddy, Michael Moore?
