CNN: Bachmann, Pawlenty tensions boil over in Iowa debate
Long simmering tensions between Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann and former Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty boiled over Thursday during a Republican presidential debate in Iowa, as the two candidates engaged in a harsh back and forth over their White House qualifications.

CNN: Perry appeals to social and fiscal conservatives
With Republicans expressing general dissatisfaction over the field of presidential candidates so far, [Texas Gov. Rick] Perry's expected entry to the race is considered an effort to galvanize the divided political right behind a contender who can appeal to tea party and Christian conservatives as well as pro-business moderates.

Senators offer debate post-mortems, one of them admittedly biased

Ames, Iowa (CNN) - After watching their party's presidential candidates go after each other, two Republican senators offered post-mortems on Thursday's GOP debate.

One senator remained largely neutral, while the other was admittedly biased towards one candidate.

Ames, Iowa (CNN) - Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann's campaign launched an opening salvo against soon-to-be-declared presidential candidate Rick Perry, telling reporters: if Perry is serious about running - why was he a no-show at Thursday's Republican presidential debate?

Bachmann, Pawlenty tensions boil over in Iowa debate

Ames, Iowa (CNN) - Long simmering tensions between Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann and former Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty boiled over Thursday during a Republican presidential debate in Iowa, as the two candidates engaged in a harsh back and forth over their White House qualifications.

Mitt Romney, meanwhile, faced questions about the universal health care plan he enacted as governor of Massachusetts, but for the second debate in a row, the Republican frontrunner escaped without suffering a campaign-altering blow.
