All shook up: Bachmann flubs Elvis birthday

(CNN)-Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann stepped all over Elvis Presley's blue suede shoes while stumping Tuesday, when she mistakenly wished "The King" a "Happy Birthday."

August 16 actually marks the 34th anniversary of Presley's death.

"Before we get started, let's all say 'Happy Birthday' to Elvis Presley today," Bachmann greeted event attendees at a "Join Team Bachmann" rally in Spartanburg, SC.

"We played you a little bit of Promised Land when we pulled up. You can't do better than Elvis Presley and we thought we would celebrate his birthday as we get started celebrating taking our country back to work."

But Presley's birthday is in January, so the tea party darling's well wishes are eight months too late.

Awwwww - she probably just ate some bad food at her family reunion......................what? Oh, never mind. Maybe she was thinking about the Paul Revere thingy her twin said (you know, ringing bells and shooting musket while riding a horse to warn the British..................what? Oh, never mind. Maybe she just doesn't have enough brain cells to get anything correct. THERE. That must be it.

This woman's lack of thinking is beyond belief! She has no idea where the shot heard around the world was, and she doesn't know a birthday from a death? Glad she wasn't in Mississippi when she made this flub! I could accept her lack of knowledge if she did not have peoples lives at risk but to think she could even run for President is not acceptable. Her consituents must be so proud to know that this woman has no idea of our country's history, how we became a Democratic Republic, etc. I feel for them, I pray for them, what a shame!

Are her assistants and advisors secretly undermining her ... how hard is it check facts via google?

Michele unlike Palin, Michele is a likeable person. The more I hear her speak then more I recognize that she indeed is a smart, capable women and the when speaks about social conservative values and her religion, she is sincere ... unlike Perry, so I respect her ... but thankfully she she has no chance of even being the GOP VP nominee.

Too bad she is often wrong on the simple facts, on economics in general, and has no clue of what this nation really needs right now.

Too bad she is not able to separate her religious views from her politics and that as President, I have no doubt she would be compelled by her sincere religious convictions to impose her particular interpretation of the Bible on all Americans.

What really scares me is how stupid the people are who support her, thus allowing her to be in the run for President of the US.

Would it be too much if racisits get to know other racisits facts like Elvis' birthday before you open your mouth? Who cares if she got it wrong, Elvis should have died on his day of birth, fat pig!

Come on Michelle, if you keep screwing up like this you ain't going to be around long enough to get my vote. You got to hang on till Super Tuesday. Please don't leave us with scary Parry as a candidate, my shoe heel has more brains than that clown.

I don't care in the least if a candidate messes up Elvis' birthday, where John Wayne was born, or even where the first shots of the Revolutionary war were fired (okay-that last one is a bit iffy, but still). What I DO care about is when a candidate continuously messes up such facts, and not during "gotcha" questions, but in pre-prepared statements. This suggests to me that neither she nor her staff care to take the time to research relatively easy facts....I mean all three of these can be done in a 2 minute Wikapedia or google search. If she doesn't care to research such basic things, how can I trust that she will research anything of importance? Anything that, if elected, could directly effect all of our lives? This type of regular disregard of the facts, which also follows many of her political statements, and her continuous failure to even care to start fact-checking more (instead blaming it on the media looking for something to pick on her about), even more than anything else, really makes me question her intelligence and abilities. I mean we are not talking about a 1 time misstatement or an accidental slip or even a "gotcha" question (should such things exist), we are talking about continual errors of basic facts that can easily be researched and which she supposedly has prepared in advance. How can I trust her to care about the facts when they really matter?

She is pompous. And when it comes his birthday, she will say let us remember his death. Quite entertaining!

If she or her staff cannot do something that is so basic correctly, like performing a simple Google search, how could she possibly make the gutwrenching difficult decisions a President has to make?

Not only does she look crazy, she IS crazy.
I'd forgive her if this wasn't the first time she's messed up something like birth and death dates, John Waynes, Concords, etc. She's got serious mental shortcomings. I do hope she wins the primary, it will be pure comedy gold to see her during a debate hide behind the "I'm running for the presidency of the United States" duck and cover line whenever one of the moderators questions gets too hot for her brain.
