All shook up: Bachmann flubs Elvis birthday

(CNN)-Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann stepped all over Elvis Presley's blue suede shoes while stumping Tuesday, when she mistakenly wished "The King" a "Happy Birthday."

August 16 actually marks the 34th anniversary of Presley's death.

"Before we get started, let's all say 'Happy Birthday' to Elvis Presley today," Bachmann greeted event attendees at a "Join Team Bachmann" rally in Spartanburg, SC.

"We played you a little bit of Promised Land when we pulled up. You can't do better than Elvis Presley and we thought we would celebrate his birthday as we get started celebrating taking our country back to work."

But Presley's birthday is in January, so the tea party darling's well wishes are eight months too late.

I'm a conservative and I'll admit that this woman has several screws loose. It's a shame that an intelligent conservative women hasn't entered the race. Condoleeza Rice would be a God send.

Bachmann really needs someone to prep her for when she plans on opening her mouth and actually speaking….and this same person can prep her for photos too. She looks as silly as ODonnell in her famous "Red Dress Open Mouth Crocodile'" photo op.

She’s losing both battles at an alarming rate at the moment.

The gaff may be inconsequential however, it goes to show you how detached she is from even the simplest facts and the lengths she will go to promote her beliefs without any relation to fact.

It's Bachmann for God's sake! She's a typical Tea Party darling-all loud mouth no clue. The dozen flubs she's already had will only multiply as more media is on her. Wait till she has one of her famous migranes during a debate. Can't wait to see that deer-in-headlights look on her. You know Romney, Perry and Ron Paul are going to grill her and she'll have no clue what just happened. Speaking of which what's up with the media trying to make Ron Paul like he doesn't exist or something. I'm no "conspiracy theorist let's-go-back-to-the-gold standard" Ron Paul fan, but seriously the guy whooped up on all the other Republicans in the field and would've probably won the straw poll had Bachmann not given away thousands of tickets away for her barbeque entertainment event (Randy Travis was the highlight for the entertainment). Each of those tickets weren't exactly cheap. Supprisingly (maybe not) if we counted the amount of tickets she gave away and assumed those folks voted for her...they would account for 2/3 of all the folks who voted for her. Ron Paul didn't have to bribe anyone and the media (inlcluding Fox) is talking more about the candidates who quit the race than him. The media says the top three candidates are Bachmann, Perry and Romney. What? Ron beat the living bajesus out of the other two what gives?

Also – how does one expect her to get things "straight"? The woman doesn't even realize that her husband is gay. Sheesh!

Palin 1.54...err...Bachman is at it again. So when is she going to lash out and blame the liberal media for everything she said herself? LIke Palin, maybe she could start a TV show about Minnisota or something so, just like Palin, we can all realize that she doesn't even really know much about her own state.

What is truly sad is that the people in her Minnesota district continue to vote for her.

It probably doesn't matter to her. She seems to operate under "My mind's made up – don't confuse me with the facts" mentality anyway. What a nut job! I'm glad I do not live in her congressional district!

Ok, it looks like no matter what, at this point the alternatives to President Obama are all dumb and dumber. It should make for an interesting few years for the country.

While it ultimatley doesn't matter that she has no clue about things like this, does anybody really want someone so willing and able to make an idiot of herself in charge of the country?

Well that did it! Bachmann now qualifies for a pamphlet, called " Bloopers by Bachmann".

9% unemployment and rising. $1.4 trillion deficits and out of control spending and rising. Ad-hoc regulations that have stifled business investment and hiring. The continued collapsing of home values. Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security insolvent.

Yet libtards focus on Bachmann not remembering a pop-singers birthday.

That's a good one but I still remember in 08 Obama saying he hoped to visit all 57 states and ole Joe asking the wheel chair bound man to stand and take a bow. These politicians never cease to amaze me.

She will somehow blame the media and the liberals for this rather than be humble and admit the mistake.

Oh those poor baggers! While we have countless misstatements coming from their darlings to point at, they only have the "Obama said 57 states" to fall back on. I think that there must be a 57 states fan club and news letter because they seem to come out in droves at any report of a tea bragger screw up.

Don't you get it? If the Tea Party nutcases make up facts then these becopme facts and it is all the fault of the mainstream media if you disagree with thier facts. What is wrong with you people? Same goes for cutting back on govt. spending and giving tax breaks to the rich will create jobs.

Nice to see that all you Media Matters hacks are still alive and kicking. This is your time of the season. Personal attacks for everyone. Can it be more obvious. Good thing that Michelle B. is a strong Conservative woman who, like her friend in Alaska, have the spines to stand their grounds. Hey, I'm still looking for some dirt on Sarah Palin's 32,000 emails. Do you think that BHO, Biden, Pelosi, Trumka, Andy Stern or Reed could stand up to that scrutiny?
