All shook up: Bachmann flubs Elvis birthday

(CNN)-Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann stepped all over Elvis Presley's blue suede shoes while stumping Tuesday, when she mistakenly wished "The King" a "Happy Birthday."

August 16 actually marks the 34th anniversary of Presley's death.

"Before we get started, let's all say 'Happy Birthday' to Elvis Presley today," Bachmann greeted event attendees at a "Join Team Bachmann" rally in Spartanburg, SC.

"We played you a little bit of Promised Land when we pulled up. You can't do better than Elvis Presley and we thought we would celebrate his birthday as we get started celebrating taking our country back to work."

But Presley's birthday is in January, so the tea party darling's well wishes are eight months too late.

So let me get this straight... her campaign gave out 6000 tickets (which she purchased at $30/ticket) during the Iowa polling and only 4800 of those who got a free ticket actually voted for her? Wow, color me impressed.

This is the best they can do, so don't mock them. Maybe we'll be out of ideas ourselves one day . . . .

I'm just wondering why this is news...CNN is really bending over backward to make anyone but Obama look bad. Epic fail CNN. Please get to the real news, and stop wasting our time with this kind of trash.

    1. Before politics, she was a federal tax attorney. Being in the business, you can't be a dolt and be successful. 2. Not every editor is looking for the most flattering picture of someone you know... Editors wield tremendous power in how they get to convey candidates to the nation and world. Grow up and face it.

The second coming of Sarah. How funny, that was the best laugh I"ve had recently. This should be an entertaining campaign. Does she ever do any research? Her foot has to be tasting pretty nasty by now as she's put in in her mouth quite a few times

And people would actually vote for someone this stupid? You kmow when you are President – details and facts matter – you can't just make things up or be a total idiot who knows nothing and just wing it.

Bachmann is NOT a leader and never has been. She just is good at criticizing other people and getting NOTHING done herself. Her Congressional accomplishments are ZERO. Her lies are too numerous to count. Her extremism is off the charts. Her hypocrisy is stunning – she lives off government money in every aspect of her life but constant claims to hate our government. Is she just not plain unAmerican, intolerant, and racist and stupid? Republicans really think people are going to vote for a lunatic with not an ounce of common sense or intelligence????
I stand with my President Obama. He is genuine, a good and decent man with real family values, a great leader, calm, thinks before he acts, and knows how to relate to REAL people. He cares about ALL Americans – not just ones Republican deem acceptable – white, male, rich, and arrogant. President Obama has real ideas, solutions, and believes in our country. Republicans want to destroy America, let corporations have everything, take away all PEOPLE programs like SS, Medicare, and food for poor children, education, and technology. Republicans oppose everything President Obama tries to do – even if they were for it the week before. They are so full of hate they cannot accomplish anything. If we remove ALL Republicans on the local, state, and national levels – the obstruction to our recovery will be gone and America will take off with jobs and new innovation and success for our future.

Poor Kim! You really ought to be able to see how crazy this woman is without us telling you. And every speechmaker uses a teleprompter, anyone who tells you different is lying. This difference is being able to put things you wrote yourself on the teleprompter instead of just having a speech written for you by other crazies.

Republicans have never let concepts like "facts" or "truth" stand in their way before, so why should now be any different?

If standing in front of a riled crowd and pitching nonsensical insults like "socialist communist Nazi" at the President to cheers from that crowd convinces people he is actually a "socialist communist Nazi," then Aug 16 is now actually Elvis' birthday.

  11. In order for 15 MILLION to find a job, only ONE must LOSE his.... Fire Obama in 2012

Then-candidate Obama was pretty tired after a long day of campaigning.
    ==========================================================
Yes, yes, it was because he was campaigning sooo hard that he forgot how many states were in the Union. Oh pulleze! How easily people give the messiah the benefit of the doubt and yet jump all over others at any small slip.

Frankly I could give a rats patooty about if the next President knows when Elvis was born or when he died. I DO care if they know the difference between a constitutional law and an unconstitutional mandate. Obama fails that test. Bachmann passes it.

I shudder to think of what would happen the first Thanksgiving after she became President. This Wingnut would probably pardon a serial killer and execute a turkey.

Bachmann bashed stimulus while lobbying for funds.

Her The Independence, Wis., Farm , received nearly $260,000 in federal subsidies between 1995 and 2008.
What a two faceed person and a lier. Bachman is Hypocritical and double-dealing; deceitful who would vote for her

Who cares about the Elvis debacle, she voted for America to default and fail and pretended that it would not hurt the country, thats all you need to know to determine she can never be President even though Obama would love to have her as an opponent.

If she is not intelligent enough to hire advisors to give her accurate information, do we really trust her to appoint people who will be in charge of our national security and interests? This is not funny any more, it is truly scary.

Do we need anymore proof – she's made error after error on trival matters. What happens if she has to make a really big decision? Obviously she and the people she surrounds herself with are morons. This isn't another little gaff neither – along with her other little mistakes point up the fact that she's just plain stupid – So Michelle – please get outta here so we can concentrate on how stupid Rick Perry is.

It did not take long for our east coast media to fall back into the 2008 election. Protecting Pres. Obama at all cost. The major networks are all having fun over this gaffe, while ignoring VP Biden's gaffe about Gabrielle Giffords. If Palin or Bachmann had said what Biden did, it would have made news for a week. As it is,its covered up.

Oh, Please! The Giffords gaffe hardley makes up for the idiotic gaffs that Bachmann/Paline seem to make everytime they open up their big, stupid mouths. Just accept the fact that Bachmann and Palin are as dumb and ignorant as a bag of onions (sorry onions) and you just love them for it! And it's not just east coast media on this – it's most media markets east, west, north and south. Bachmann's always bragging about her education while sounding like she barely got past eight grade! LOL!
