All shook up: Bachmann flubs Elvis birthday

(CNN)-Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann stepped all over Elvis Presley's blue suede shoes while stumping Tuesday, when she mistakenly wished "The King" a "Happy Birthday."

August 16 actually marks the 34th anniversary of Presley's death.

"Before we get started, let's all say 'Happy Birthday' to Elvis Presley today," Bachmann greeted event attendees at a "Join Team Bachmann" rally in Spartanburg, SC.

"We played you a little bit of Promised Land when we pulled up. You can't do better than Elvis Presley and we thought we would celebrate his birthday as we get started celebrating taking our country back to work."

But Presley's birthday is in January, so the tea party darling's well wishes are eight months too late.

I wonder if Michele Bachmann thinks Elvis Presley was one of the country's Founding Fathers?

Geez...that is one spooky looking mug. How is it that both Bachmann AND Palin have a tendancy of always looking creepy. They both get these wild eyed shots that make them look an invisible hand is choking them and squeezing everything into the eye sockets.
If this election were held on looks alone which essentially it is, these two lose by a landslide

Yup. That disqualifies here for being President. I wonder if she knows that there are 57 states.

I don't really care about her getting an old musician's birthday mixed up, but getting her American History wrong as a serious candidate is terrifying.

"But Presley's birthday is in January, so the tea party darling's well wishes are eight months too late."

Cut her some slack. She's 4 months early. When other presidential candidates are wishing happy birthday to Elvis in January, she'll be able to say that she saw that coming 4 months ago.

She's such a loose screw. She'll need two social secretaries to tell her when to get up in the morning.

Make all the fun you want of Bachmann – some of her handlers put this in her ear – and she did as they instructed. Also – you don't hear about Obama saying the USA is made up of 57 states, do you - Thanks to the liberal left media protecting THEIR darling. Bachmann may not know the difference in Elvis birthday and day of death (who cares) – but you can bet she does know how many states are in the USA (now that IS important), unlike ignorant Obama.

This board is a real dummy. Even the average person know that Elvis died in August. His birthday is in January.

What a freakin' idiot. Between her and Palin, I'm not sure which one opens their mouth more often without thinking about what they are about to say. Somehow I don't think Elvis would be a fan of Bachmann. Maybe she meant Elvis Costello.

Look, I don't like the lady and think she would be an awful President. But seriously this is news? I'd love to see the attack ads stating that she's unqualified because she didn't know Elvis's birthday.

    Too funny!

I laughed a full minute when I read this. Just the funniest thing! This is who the Tea Party wants me to support? And Republicans wonder why we think they are idiots.

Maybe she doesn't know when Elvis was born, but she sure knows that the U.S. has 50 states. Our president thought we had 57 states. Now who looks more ridiculous?

    "It's a Bachmann life."

It's tough being right all of the time. In fact, it is even tougher to be so right that no one can even prove you wrong. (That is a pun on a famous quote in physics about theories that can be neither proven nor disproven.) If you cannot disprove it then it must be true. Wrong!
