(CNN)-Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann stepped all over Elvis Presley's blue suede shoes while stumping Tuesday, when she mistakenly wished "The King" a "Happy Birthday."
August 16 actually marks the 34th anniversary of Presley's death.
"Before we get started, let's all say 'Happy Birthday' to Elvis Presley today," Bachmann greeted event attendees at a "Join Team Bachmann" rally in Spartanburg, SC.
"We played you a little bit of Promised Land when we pulled up. You can't do better than Elvis Presley and we thought we would celebrate his birthday as we get started celebrating taking our country back to work."
But Presley's birthday is in January, so the tea party darling's well wishes are eight months too late.

I don't recall any that the Team Obama media have endlessly repeated these woppers: Obama's reference to the "57 States I've visited"; to the "Austrian language"; and to "the President of Canada." Obama also asserted that a Kansas tornado had killed 10,000 people when only 12 had died. All politicians make verbal slip ups, but only those of conservatives are "gleefully" pointed out.

Doesn't this woman have anybody working for her who can fact check? It was all over the news today that this is the 34th anniversary of Elvis's death. If she is planning to ride into a southern town where everyone loved Elvis and make a comment, couldn't she have googled it first or have a staff member do it? If her staff is so inept at helping her, who in the world would she appoint as cabinet members if elected, which I seriously doubt. Maybe kindergartners who are of course, Evangelical Christians.
