All shook up: Bachmann flubs Elvis birthday

(CNN)-Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann stepped all over Elvis Presley's blue suede shoes while stumping Tuesday, when she mistakenly wished "The King" a "Happy Birthday."

August 16 actually marks the 34th anniversary of Presley's death.

"Before we get started, let's all say 'Happy Birthday' to Elvis Presley today," Bachmann greeted event attendees at a "Join Team Bachmann" rally in Spartanburg, SC.

"We played you a little bit of Promised Land when we pulled up. You can't do better than Elvis Presley and we thought we would celebrate his birthday as we get started celebrating taking our country back to work."

But Presley's birthday is in January, so the tea party darling's well wishes are eight months too late.

Better for one to think you are a fool than to open one's mouth and remove all doubt.

At least she is consistent with being factually wrong. And please spare the Obama 57 state thing. If you listen to all of what he said and how he said it you knew he meant 50. However, I doubt those haters have bothered to listen to what he says.

What a scary photo. Matches the thoughts on this woman being POTUS.

I saw her on all 4 Sunday shows this week after she won the Ames Poll. She had the same, tired BS talking points on all 4 shows. No substance, just dodge and evade questions.

Mrs. Bachmann, being President involves more than just cutting spending. Wake up and realize that, dummy.

OK – I'm not saying that I expect someone running for President to know that. But, if you're going to blare the music from your bus and open your speech with that little tidbit, don't you think you ought to check your facts? That's the problem with the Tea-publicans; they just make things up as they go along and call it the facts.

Ahh good ole Elvis oughta being turning in his grave. This proves even more that facts dont mean Shiggidy to this Hostage negotiator. I mean really Michelle, if i may call you that...seems to me to be a tax evader. She taughts having some 20 foster kids at one time or another. If i do my calculations the states pays for the care if these kids. Re-inbursted by the very goverment thats to big spends to much and is broken. So on the concervative side you have 10 depends your tax burden falls to zero in most cases. 20 means we owe you. So at any given time she and hubby where recieving 5k to 10k for the kids, and thats right folks no a penny in taxes.

Who cares the person is dead and I wouldn't know his birthday from his death day.

Can we see some news that's worth reporting this is another reason we can't get great people to run for office all the BS that has nothing to do with the job she is seeking.

Get a life people balance the budget, term limits, no voting yourself a raise, and no retirement benfits that you don't put anything into it.

  12. seriously???

I guess she meant Elvis dying and being reborn in Heaven.

I can't stand this woman as much as I can't stand Palin, but this is hardly a news item, even for the ticker.

So now if Ms Bachmann says she is going to lead us to a "new beginning", will it really mean "the end"?

And The Democrats don't make any mistakes.....right? Here is a dandy from our current VP. "When the stock market crashed, Franklin D. Roosevelt got on the television and didn't just talk about the, you know, the princes of greed. He said, 'Look, here's what happened." –Joe Biden, apparently unaware that FDR wasn't president when the stock market crashed in 1929 and that only experimental TV sets were in use at that time, interview with Katie Couric, Sept. 22, 2008

I's the presidents fault that her facts are incorrect...yeah yeah that's it...after all if there is one thing she and her gop friends know how to do best and often, it's blame the president for everything! It's been raining here hard for three days now, the sun came up for a short time last night and now it looks like the rain is returning...guess the president is doing his rain dance in washington again...yeah yeah that's it!

Yes, this IS a news item. When someone running for the most important job in the world gets up in front of a crowd of people and can't even get a simple fact like that correct shows a total lack of intelligence. And by the way, if Obama had committed the same gaffe what would the Tea-Baggers (who SHOULD be tea-bagged) have said?
