(CNN)-Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann stepped all over Elvis Presley's blue suede shoes while stumping Tuesday, when she mistakenly wished "The King" a "Happy Birthday."
August 16 actually marks the 34th anniversary of Presley's death.
"Before we get started, let's all say 'Happy Birthday' to Elvis Presley today," Bachmann greeted event attendees at a "Join Team Bachmann" rally in Spartanburg, SC.
"We played you a little bit of Promised Land when we pulled up. You can't do better than Elvis Presley and we thought we would celebrate his birthday as we get started celebrating taking our country back to work."
But Presley's birthday is in January, so the tea party darling's well wishes are eight months too late.

I saw her on all 4 Sunday shows this week after she won the Ames Poll. She had the same, tired BS talking points on all 4 shows. No substance, just dodge and evade questions.

OK – I'm not saying that I expect someone running for President to know that. But, if you're going to blare the music from your bus and open your speech with that little tidbit, don't you think you ought to check your facts? That's the problem with the Tea-publicans; they just make things up as they go along and call it the facts.

I mean really Michelle, if i may call you that...seems to me to be a tax evader. She taughts having some 20 foster kids at one time or another. If i do my calculations the states pays for the care if these kids. Re-inbursted by the very goverment thats to big spends to much and is broken. So on the concervative side you have 10 depends your tax burden falls to zero in most cases. 20 means we owe you. So at any given time she and hubby where recieving 5k to 10k for the kids, and thats right folks no a penny in taxes.
