All shook up: Bachmann flubs Elvis birthday

(CNN)-Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann stepped all over Elvis Presley's blue suede shoes while stumping Tuesday, when she mistakenly wished "The King" a "Happy Birthday."

August 16 actually marks the 34th anniversary of Presley's death.

"Before we get started, let's all say 'Happy Birthday' to Elvis Presley today," Bachmann greeted event attendees at a "Join Team Bachmann" rally in Spartanburg, SC.

"We played you a little bit of Promised Land when we pulled up. You can't do better than Elvis Presley and we thought we would celebrate his birthday as we get started celebrating taking our country back to work."

But Presley's birthday is in January, so the tea party darling's well wishes are eight months too late.

She and Sarah would make a great team. I'd love to be in a room with them just overhearing the conversation they have with each other. It would be so freakin entertaining. Idiot!

You know, if she were to get the GOP nomination, the late night comics would have a field day! Bachman's utter stupidity going head-to-head with a very intelligent Obama in a debate? Not only would Obama wipe the floor with her, she'd be the laughing stock of the GOP! Even more than Palin is!

It could be a comedy that's even funnier than Ghostbusters.

Between Rep. Bachmann and Gov. Palin it seems like the entire left wing of this country has turned into a bunch of mysogynistic slobs. Get over yourselves. Will the 25 million people looking for work in this country really care if someone mixed up a few dates concerning a singer who's been dead for over 30 years?

The hypocrisy is that back in the best years of Elvis' career, her religious views would never have allowed her to acknowledge his talent or his place in rock and roll history. More likely, she would condemn him for his evil influence. IMHO.

Evidently, Michelle must verify her facts; much like Michael Scott, at Wikipedia.

So she flubbed Elvis' birthday. Obama visited all 57 States and said he would visit the President of Canada. (they don't have a President) Far more serious mistakes and a flub over some fat guy's birthday.

Not out of touch are we Ms. Bachmann. Even the dead knows it was the anniversary of Elvis's death.

  14. Just me

I think the important thing to take from this is she's just trying to say what she thinks people want to hear and is fake. Sarah Palin is another. It would be so refreshing to see a politician be who they really are instead of pretending to be everything everyone else wants them to be. She's a pathetic liar and there's no way I'd trust her to run our country if she can't even put together a campaign team capable of the most basic of research, let alone researching how to solve complex problems with the country.

  16. This is news?

    Really? This?
I remember several flubs of Bush, that were headline for weeks.

But when: Obama says hes been to 58 states has 4 more to go, hardly anything......
Obama saying unemployment wouldn't go over 8% if we pass the stimulus (Don't we wish).......
Obama saying illegal aleiens wouldn't be covered under Obama care, now we find out that is not true at all........
Obama signs the West Minster Abbey guest book THIS YEAR as "2008", and as an American I get laughed during my England vacation this summer because of: the date signing 3 years off, and several other diplomatic Gaffs (toast etc)Obama made Obama made during HIS England trip.

Biden telling a "good friend" paralyzed man to "Stand up"?

And people mock Michele B. for that?

    Wow, really?

Talk about overblown. Of what importance is knowledge of Elvis trivia to being President? Can you inagine what it would be like to have every little flub you make pounced on by the media and the pundits as if it were the stupidist thing said in the history of the universe? Let the first of us who never mispeaks cast the first stone.

The Elvis thing at least isn't critical, but combine it with all of the other stupid remarks she's made and tell me if you want someone like this in the White House. Oh... sorry, we already have someone like that in the White House.

It did not take long for our east coast media to fall back into the 2008 election. Protecting Pres. Obama at all cost. The major networks are all having fun over this gaffe, while ignoring VP Biden's gaffe about Gabrielle Giffords. If Palin or Bachmann had said what Biden did, it would have made news for a week. As it is,its covered up.

Sadly, we need to do better at making her look wrong for the job if we are ever going to keep her from the Oval Office. Yes it is funny to point at her and laugh because of this...but it hardly proves she is the wrong candidate. They need something better...I do not want to see her, amongst others, take over.
