(CNN)-Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann stepped all over Elvis Presley's blue suede shoes while stumping Tuesday, when she mistakenly wished "The King" a "Happy Birthday."
August 16 actually marks the 34th anniversary of Presley's death.
"Before we get started, let's all say 'Happy Birthday' to Elvis Presley today," Bachmann greeted event attendees at a "Join Team Bachmann" rally in Spartanburg, SC.
"We played you a little bit of Promised Land when we pulled up. You can't do better than Elvis Presley and we thought we would celebrate his birthday as we get started celebrating taking our country back to work."
But Presley's birthday is in January, so the tea party darling's well wishes are eight months too late.

Everytime this woman opens her mouth her out comes something unbelievable than before! I find it impossible to view this woman as anything close to genuine. Each time I see her speak, it appears as though she presents her positions with the sincere hope of fooling everyone that watches her and then believes that she did fool them...all the time smiling like a stand up performer.
there has been numerous events on the news already of how this lady just like palin twist and changes facts of history and current events. News flash: Bachmann doesn't know anymore about economics and the Constitution than she knows about Elvis - and neither do most Tea Party loud mouths. It may be humorous when Backmann makes a fool of herself by displaying her ignorance of petty things like Elvis' birthday, but it will be a disaster if this idiot becomes president. As president, her ignorance would have real consequences - as we saw when George Bush became the commander 'n chief.

I'm live in Memphis- Elvis' death has been an annual event since he died- it amazes me that after all this time people from all over the world ( Iowa too) still come here to pay tribute to him. We actually had Elvis impersonators' from Germany. The woman is an idiot!
I don't fault her for not knowing Elvis' birthday (I sure don't know it), but if she planned on opening up with that "fact," isn't that really easy to look up and verify? It doesn't show stupidity on her part, it shows ignorance and laziness.
