Obama blasts GOP 'rigidity' in CNN interview

PEOSTA, Iowa (CNN) – President Barack Obama placed the blame for Washington's current political paralysis squarely at the feet of his Republican opponents Tuesday, telling CNN that the GOP's "ideological rigidity" is standing in the way of compromises necessary for stronger economic growth.

In a wide-ranging interview with Wolf Blitzer, the president said the inability of GOP leaders in Congress to support a recent $4 trillion deficit reduction deal focused more heavily on spending cuts than revenue increases is evidence of a party placing political considerations before national interests.

But once the GOP chooses a presidential standard bearer for 2012, "I'll be ready for them," the president promised.

We will all be be ready because right now there is not one single candidate that stands out from the others. They all "w"itch and complain that the President is doing too little or too much or nothing but I have yet to hear one of them say this IS what I am going to do, including the rethug ideas that as soon as he mentions them they are against them! The bashing and lies didn't work in 2008 and after seeing just two weeks ago that the teabaggers were willing to let the country default and, as in Wisconsin, seeing the rethug governor want to penalize the little people I just can't see anyone in their right minds voting for any of these list of clowns. Fortunately, there is plenty of crap the teabaggers have said and done in the last year that will come and bite them in their skinny little arses!

I'll be ready to Mr. President. Ready to say NO to any republican running against you. While I have some concerns with your decisions – I still find you to be closer to my interests than anyone running in the [R] party. Therefore, you are the only rational choice for me.

I'm sure he'll be ready to spend a BILLION dollars trying to blame everybody else for his abysmal 4 years of FAILURE. Yeah, don't vote for those scary extremist republicans that want to balance the budget and have a smaller government that won't be able to feed and burp you daily. (and pick your pocket) Yes, vote for 4 more years of class warfare, recession, high unemployment, $1.7 TRILLION deficits, $20 TRILLION in debt, high prices and a worthless dollar. Not to mention his illegal Libyan war and unconstituional Obamacare.

This country is not stupid enough to put you back for 4 more years of this insanity!!! ABO 2012!!!!!!!!

Am I understanding this right? The president wants the Iowa farmers to give him ideas on how to create jobs in the US? This is unbelievable. Farmers work hard enough. Maybe the president should get a ouiji board or a crystal ball or a fortuneteller. Obviously he doesn't have a clue about our country. We are almost 3 years down the road of unemployment and he has not come up with ONE single idea about how to improve the economy of our country. That's the problem when you elect a "lecturer" and not a "leader". I can tell you one sure way to improve the economy....if President Obama resigns.

  7. Republicans - The "Not Intended To Be Factually Accurate" Party

If Ronald Reagan could trade "Arms for Hostages", President Obama should be able to trade Arms for Oil with Saudi Arabia.

In exchange for an immediate, 2-year-long, 30% boost in oil production, the US should agree to sell the Saudi's the weapons that they covet. Such a favorable shock on world oil markets for that long would stimulate the economy and jobs in America.

Obama is delusional. His brains are liquefying before our eyes. He has no record except failure to run on.

Yes Obama will be ready for Republicans in 2012. He is probably getting the White House cleaned up and calling the Moving Companies now. He failed America.

  11. In order for 15 MILLION to find a job, only ONE must LOSE his.... Fire Obama in 2012

Honestly, why don't you just go back to the Whitehouse, get your golf clubs and playout the last 16 months and do nothing. Contribute all of the billion dollars for your campaign to the millions you have helped keep unemployed over the last 3 and one coming year. If you were Japanese, you'd be expected to fall on your sword for you abysmal 4 years of failure. You are embarrasing yourself, your party and your country by running for re-election. Please help stop the country's misery and resign or just not run again. I beg you, for the good of the country, go back to Chicago.

@Dominican mama 4 Obama "We can't wait Mr. President. Feel free to get in a few practice shots beforehand jsut to limber up so to speak."

This comment is a prime example of what is wrong with liberal comments. If Obama were to focus on solving the country's issues of the economy, jobs, etc, then he would have nothing to worry about. We don't need a President that takes shots at the other side. It makes him look petty and juvenile. Instead, we need a President to lead. Frankly, Obama has not done well in that department.

I do believe by the next election cycle the independents and most of the American people will remember after the GOP/TEA Birthers took over the house. 1) They shifted focus from jobs and the economy to defending tax breaks for the rich. 2) They almost pushed us into a government shutdown. 3) They pushed us into a credit downgrade. 4) They fought to kill medicare and medicaid. 5) But they sure fought vehemently for those top 1% wealthy people. All at the expense of the economy and the middle and working class who will see there is no choice on the extreme right. Obama wins 2012!
