Perry not backing down on Bernanke remarks

Dubuque, Iowa (CNN) - Texas Gov. Rick Perry isn't backing down from comments he made in Iowa on Monday night when he said it would be "treasonous" for Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke to try to stimulate the economy by printing more money.

"I am just passionate about the issue and we stand by what we said," the Republican presidential candidate said after a luncheon with small business owners in Dubuque.

Earlier Tuesday, White House Press Secretary Jay Carney criticized Perry's statement.

"When you're president or you're running for president you have to think about what you're saying because your words have greater impact," Carney said. "President Obama and we take the independence of the Federal Reserve very seriously and certainly think threatening the fed chairman is probably not a good idea."

When making an appearance at an event in Cedar Rapids Monday, Perry was asked what he would do about the Federal Reserve.

The governor replied, "If this guy prints more money between now and the election, I don't know what y'all would do to him in Iowa, but we would treat him pretty ugly down in Texas."

"I mean, printing more money to play politics at this particular time in American history, is almost treacherous, or treasonous, in my opinion," he added.

Three days in and here's what we know about Perry:
He calls the Chairman of the Fed a traitor if he "prints more money for political reasons". The idiot does not know
the Fed is an independent entity, the Chairmanship is set for a certain amount of time, and he cannot be removed by
    the President.
He thinks social security and medicare are unconstitutional
He insinuates the Military does not respect President Obama
He insinuates President Obama does not love America as much as he does, when asked he says "go ask him"!
His record as Governor is out there for all to see, and a pathetic record it is
He "kisses off" with a hand gesture his opponent Romney
Crude and crass is putting it mildly.

Perry looks and acts like a snake oil salesman... The Texas mirage will get the light shined on it, and Perry will fall. Plus making statements like that will turn off independent voters. We already had on not very smart folksy fellow from Texas hoodwink the country, we can't be that dumb, can we???

Typical swagger for a Bush Clone. He has no sense of decorum.

Imagine how this louse would talk to world leaders. In fact, imagine how any of the Republican candidates would talk to world leaders, or how they would handle a crisis. Bachmann, Romney and Perry would fail this country big time, and Perry would especially send us back to the "Bush Era" of being hated and riduculed around the world. Keep talking ugly like that–maybe someone will throw a pair of shoes at you.

Treasonous, huh? Kind of like implying a particular state which you are the governor of should secede from the Union.

Way to go Perry. It's about time sometime told Obama what a fool his administrations is. He thinks all he has to do is print more money. What a Moron and loser. I can't believe the American people were so stupid as to have put this idiot into the White House. We're really showing the world just how smart this country has become.Just like our school systems and how they downgraded once intergration hit. They have now operated for forty years and are still struggling to get everyone on an even kild. You have to teach on the level of the worst student you have in the the class. In most cases several of these morans are sitting there with their only future is the Pen.

It's great to see Gov. Perry call out Obama and Bernanke on this greedy, self-serving kind of manuever. Obama is basically talking about printing money...diluting the value of the US dollar... to buy votes. That's a blatant disregard for the American taxpayer and the American economy. What's new?
