The president's beastly bus

(CNN) - President Barack Obama is rolling through the Midwest this week on a three-state, campaign-style swing in a brand new, sleek, black, armored bus. It's pretty flashy – no, seriously, it is, as in it has flashing lights like a police vehicle, which were on as the president rolled into his stop in Cannon Falls, Minn. on Monday.

The bus is one of two the Secret Service bought recently (one in April, one in June) to move "protectees" – President Obama, Vice President Biden, the First Lady and, soon, the Republican presidential nominee, as well as others.

Isn't nice of the Autobots to lend a hand to protect our leaders and potential leaders?

And you and I are paying for it. I know you need to campaign Mr. President why do I have to pay for it?
Why don't you ask your friend Oprah or Buffet pay for it.
And while you are at it ask them to donate to IRS since they love to pay for taxes.

So Nini, should Oprah of Buffett also pay for the teathuglican candidate's bus as well, or do you only have a problem with the taxpayers being on the hook for the Dem?

What a waste of taxpayers’ money, but what else would you expect from Obama. We have 20+ percent unemployment, trillions upon trillions of dollars of debt and the president makes speeches. What could he talk about, higher unemployment, higher taxes, higher home foreclosure rates, our 401ks in the tank, the Stock market in the tank, the tax evading Democratic Party, his tax evading amateur hour administration, his tax evading appointee, out of control budget, how not to produce a budget! Pity the America public.

Okay CNN, let me curb my enthusiasm:
    AWESOME!!!
    I looove it.
A very good investment considering the rental alternative.
It stands in sleek and classy contrast to the 'other' political tour buses.
    How's that?

As I recall, George W. Bush went around for eight years in a used pickup truck and propeller airplane. And when he traveled overseas, he paddled a small canoe to get there. He never had any secure Secret Service stuff like this. What the heck?!

Nini they have been RENTING and armoring these buses since the '80s to the tune of tens of thousands of dollars a pop.
You've been paying for it since then., at least now "you" own them.

I wonder what this Election Bus Tour is costing the Taxpayers.
Go out under one pretense and promote your next election campaign.

"I wonder what this Election Bus Tour is costing the Taxpayers."
    **************************
Probably the same as it is costing the Texas taxpayers for Perry (we are still paying him to be Governor, even though it
is hard to tell that he is actually working for Texas) and,
probably the same it is costing taxpayers for Bachmann to ride around in her bus, since we are all paying for her
to act as if she were a Congresswoman from Minnesota,
Find another lame argument, this is getting old.

Don't worry tea party people .. remember you guys dont want the rich or corp. to help out so we will just have flip the bill to help pay for it, us middle class / poor.. maybe if the ultra rich / corp. was doing there fair share you wouldn't feel the pinch so much by "OUR" Prez taking a bus tour..lol

Nice to see that us "common people" get to make the tough choices (eating vs. paying bills) while our elected officials ride around like rock stars and have so many mindless sheep praise them as such.

When I go to vote next time, I will write in "None of the above," as none of them deserve my vote. Both sides cater only to their masters – and guess what – it's not us common people.

This tour has more of a tone of a campaign event then something related to the function of offical Presidential responsibilities. His speeches are too partisian, something that is appropriate for a campaign and should be paid for out of his campaign funds, not tax payer money. These massive buses may be required to keep the President safe, that is fine. But the cost of this tour should come out of Obama campaign funds.

I think the bus costs less than Air Force One but untik you dumb dumbs complain about your teabaggers running around the country and not paying attentionntontheir constituents just keep quiet.
The flake has made her bed in Iowz more times in the last months than she has probably spent time in one with big boy marcus. The romneycare is unemployed according to him and the secessionist has found religion as of late so I guess texans will give him a free ride.

The country is broke and this buffoon is wasting MILLIONS of our money on new buses for a 3 day re-election campaign tour. If he's going to raise $1 BILLION for his re-election campaign, WHY ARE WE PAYING FOR THIS?!! Obama shows himself to be more and more clueless with every passing day. I guess he wants to get that approval rating down into the 20s ASAP.

  24. Get A Grip

Why are the taxpayers footing Obama's campaigning bill??!! This cost should come out of Obama's campaign war chest.

And why aren't these buses "green" and running on electricity instead of guzzling all this fuel??!! Doesn't Obama and the rest of the 'greenie weenies' want to protect our environment??!! Oh wait, that's the hard working tax payer that needs to go green and not Obama. Just a little more of 'do as I say, not as I do' from this empty suit.

Did we take out a 4 or 5 year bus loan from the Chinese to pay for these new busses??? Nice to see you're trying to "win the future" for the Chinese Mr. Leader-from-Behind.
