Cain says Obama impeachment would be 'a great thing'

(CNN) – Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain said it would be "great" to impeach the president, but that the Democratic controlled Senate would prevent such action.

On a conference call with bloggers Tuesday night, the former Godfather's Pizza CEO called the health care law and the Obama administration's stance over the Defense of Marriage Act impeachable offenses.

The news was first reported by POLITICO and later confirmed to CNN by the Cain campaign.

"There are a number of things where a case could be made in order to impeach him, but because Republicans do not control the United States Senate, they would never allow it to get off the ground," Cain said on the call. "The president is supposed to uphold the laws of this nation … and to tell the Department of Justice not to uphold the Defense of Marriage Act is a breach of his oath."

There are just too many levels on which he should be impeached.

Cain won't ever have to worry about being impeached as president. He won't be able to get the GOP nomination, let alone be elected by American voters. So this is just a question of some random guy shooting off his mouth ... hoping someone (anyone) will listen.

At least Sarah, Michele and Christine are amusing.

This guy is such a clown. He needs to stick to making dough and marinara sauce. Lying us into a war is an impeachable offense jerk. Torturing suspects in your detention is a WAR CRIME, so don't even go there. I just realized who you remind me of Herman: You're Bruce Leroy's daddy in The Last Dragon. "Directa ya feetsa, to Daddy Green's Pizza."

  7. Joe from CT, not Lieberman

Oh, like calling for an invasion and overthrowing a government based on non-existent Weapons of Mass Destruction, and flubbing a hurricane recovery by sending in someone who got fired as secretary for a horse club to take charge aren't? How about lowering taxes and then proceeding to fund a war by deficit financing? Oh, I'm sorry, that was a Republican President and Republican Congress, so they couldn't be impeachable.

Actually, the Defense of Marriage act has religious basis and therefore should be kept seperate from the Federal government. Seperation of Church and State and all. You're trying to impeach the President for not trying to control other people's sexuality? Get real. We have bigger problems in this nation.

  9. In order for 15 MILLION to find a job, only ONE must LOSE his.... Fire Obama in 2012

I wish he would just have the honor and integrity to admit he was ill prepared for the job, can't handle it and then resigned. I'd even settle for not running again if he would just stick to the golf course the next 16 months and stop doing more damage to this country with his divisive class warfare rhetoric.

It is times like this when I wish we had a parlimentary form of government so a vote of no confidence could be taken and a new government formed. We could save the country another 16 months of failure and decline. If this incompetent fool gets re-elected, this country is TOAST.

Nothing new here. Trying to find a way to impeach a Dem POTUS is standard GOP operating procedure. They will do it every single time. They were desperately hoping Obama would throw the 14th in their face during the debt ceiling hostage situation they created...in fact, that was a major reason they created it....so they could claim he was trying to be a socialist dictator and try to impeach or censure him. Cain is just regurgitating the same thing that is tattooed on the inside of every tinfoil hat wearing card carrying GOP/Teatroll's eyelids.

He has NO IDEA what he is talking about. Just because you may not agree with him does not mean you can impeach the President. This is getting rediculous and petty.

Such comments should be left out of campaigns all together. Any corporations donating to this guy should be listed so we can boycott them.

America is much better than this and the GOP is a disgrace.

  15. Let's get rational now

Every time Cain opens his mouth the sum total of human knowledge decreases and God cringes. This guy is living proof that you can start and run a successful business and still be a died in the wool, stone cold, no holds barred, larger than life idiot.

Do you know that you are a black man and the GOP will not work with black folks???? they are trying their best to destroy our president and you out here destroying him only makes you look foolish! Pack it in Cain everything you say is stupid just like you!

What a homophobic asshole! You'd think an African American individual would understand the nature of "laws" that are bigoted qnd used to oppress a minority but I guess as long as its not anti-black he doesn't give a damn! Inequality is always, ALWAYS wrong no matter the circumstances be they Black, Jews, Muslim, or Gays! Thank goodness this fool doesn't stand a rat's ass's chance of getting the nomination. I'm sure the "Tea Party" would find something wrong with him (even if they will never admit that they are basically white racists who formed to get rid of Obama and used TAX issues as their cover)!

  19. "The GOP biggest deception is getting the Poor and Middle class to believe they are out to help them"

See you can tell he knows he doesn't stand a chance in hell to get the nomination, because he really just starts to say all kinds of crazy stuff!! He and pretty much all the Republican Candidate are pathetic!! What a joke!!! Dude have some class about yourself!! I think that this is the problem with all of them (Republican Candidates)!! The go over the top when they try to cast a critical eye on the President and they look just plain stupid!! Uh, note to all Republican Candidate's – While I think the majority of your constituents are pretty much like the teabangers, you do have some in your party that are intelligent and looking for some real talk not any of the red meat bull most, if not all of you are going around here spouting out!!

Where were you when Bush had every regulatory agency in the US turn a blind eye to everything. Haven't you noticed the rash of outbreaks of contaminated food over the past decade? Notice the industrial accidents due to a lack of oversight, regulation, and enforcement?

As far as DOMA is concerned, it is about as unconstitutional as you can get. It endorses a religous-based moral standard, which is clearly prohibited by the US Constitution. The government cannot endorse any religion. This is supposed to be a democratic republic, not a Christian theocracy.
