Cain says Obama impeachment would be 'a great thing'

(CNN) – Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain said it would be "great" to impeach the president, but that the Democratic controlled Senate would prevent such action.

On a conference call with bloggers Tuesday night, the former Godfather's Pizza CEO called the health care law and the Obama administration's stance over the Defense of Marriage Act impeachable offenses.

The news was first reported by POLITICO and later confirmed to CNN by the Cain campaign.

"There are a number of things where a case could be made in order to impeach him, but because Republicans do not control the United States Senate, they would never allow it to get off the ground," Cain said on the call. "The president is supposed to uphold the laws of this nation … and to tell the Department of Justice not to uphold the Defense of Marriage Act is a breach of his oath."

Hmm. didn't seem to mind illegal wars from Bush OR Obama, but offer everyone healthcare, that's an evil thing. Why don't you see how the Muslim community accepts you, hypocrite Cain

What a crock. It's a totally baseless complaint. Just more Republican nonsense and lies.

This is exactly what I feared following the Clinton impeachment - the trivialization of impeachment.

Neither of the laws he mentions are anywhere near impeachable offenses. At the very worst, they are differences of opinion over law.

We will have lost our government if the day comes that presidents are impeached whenever the opposite party gains control of Congress.

So let me get this straight.....according to this bozo, Obama should be impeached for signing a law (health care) written by and voted on by congress?
And how is Obama telling the Justice Dept not to enforce section 3 of the "Defense of Marriage Act" any different then Bush telling the EPA not to enforce the entirety of the "Clean Water Act of 1974"? (in addition, there had been several court ruling that declared that section of the DMA to be unconstititional before Obama issued that directive)

This level of sheer ignorance shows why Cain was never a serious contender.

Impreachable offenses? Who is Cain kidding? All this guy does is incite rhetoric. He needs to dial the nonsense down and do what he seems to think that Obama hasn't – emphasize solutions to moving this country forward. Maybe he feels the need to scream at the top of his lungs because no one seems to be listening to his message as evidenced by his current position at the bottom of the pack of GOP candidates. Cain should ashamed of himself for being the fingerpointering pretender he appears to be. He is clearly NOT presidential material.

What about trying to impeach Bush who continually ignored the Constitution? Oh, that's right. Let's waste Americans money on trying to impeach Obama because after all, he's a democtrat and the neocons stand for "One Party Only". They want a dictatorship, not a democracy. This is how the "Do as we say, not as we do" party wants to run this country. I say no thank you.

Who really cares? We already know that Cain is politically oposed to President Obama. Now the GOP candidates will follow in Palin's shoes and get any media attention they can get. Even if it is bad media attention.

I believe the United States has passed one of MLK goals . We finally have a real black man saying the truth about a fake black man . It's about time someone judged a man by his character and not his skin color .

I knew this Cain guy was off the charts on his ideas and his so-called plan to govern our nation. But now he, along with the other nut job (Michelle Bachmann) are really showing their true colors daily. Tune into CNN or MSNBC, and lo and behold, there is another crazy statement being made, another revision of history or just out and out stupidity.
Stay tune America, more crazy is on the way.

The right just has nothing to say, nothing they can do to defeat Obama. So, they resort to this sort of nonsense. Like Perry calling Bernanke treasonous, another example. I'll tell you what is truly treasonous..taking the country to the brink of default and causing - yes causing - a downgrade of our rating.
The truth is, the right wants nothing less than an economic collapse so they can try to blame Obama and regain the White House.
    Pathetic, really.
