Cain says Obama impeachment would be 'a great thing'

(CNN) – Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain said it would be "great" to impeach the president, but that the Democratic controlled Senate would prevent such action.

On a conference call with bloggers Tuesday night, the former Godfather's Pizza CEO called the health care law and the Obama administration's stance over the Defense of Marriage Act impeachable offenses.

The news was first reported by POLITICO and later confirmed to CNN by the Cain campaign.

"There are a number of things where a case could be made in order to impeach him, but because Republicans do not control the United States Senate, they would never allow it to get off the ground," Cain said on the call. "The president is supposed to uphold the laws of this nation … and to tell the Department of Justice not to uphold the Defense of Marriage Act is a breach of his oath."

Doesn't CNN have the obligation to bring some facts to the piratical possibility of actually impeaching him instead of just giving Mr. Cain a stage?

And thus he proves why he's not a fit candidate for President. There is nothing, zero, on which to base even mention of the word "impeachment" with the President. Mr. Cain's comment only shows that he's yet another conservative with no ideas to help the country and only mindless hate for a President who's a far better man than he is. GOP candidates make these nutjob statements because it gets them press coverage when they would otherwise have none. The sooner these guys drop out of the primaries the better. At least Tim Pawlenty dropped out before he totally embarrassed himself. Mr. Cain could learn a lot from that.

Too bad that every Republican President for the past 50 years not only failed to uphold some laws, but actually BROKE laws during their terms. Every Republican president for the last 50 years has seen Congressional hearings into serious breaches of the law.

Cain is another nut case who needs to shut the heck up. Where were these people when Bush and Cheney created a war to line their pockets and send 1000's of Americans to die in a war for what? You know where Cain was looking at his stock's making sure he was making money. These people are full of crap.

    to; Bob

You Liberals who are responding with nasty remarks about Cain must be racist!!!

There's a huge difference Bob to commenting on your candidates cuz they're all nut jobs, and when your side has consistently since DAY ONE given nothing but problems for our President! look at all the signs and crap your side has put Prez Obama through for almost 3 years now! there's lack of progress cuz YOUR side wines, lies, lies and lies again, distracts, says NO NO NO and the list goes on...then blame President Obama for it all! you people think we're not watching and listening? think again!

    OBAMA 2012!!!!!

to impeach the president, but that the Democratic controlled Senate would prevent such action.

Cain needs a civics lesson : impeachment is the process not the out come ( removal from office).
boehner needs the votes in the house to get it started, dont see many previous teaparty candidates proposing this.

Charges dont matter just need votes
