Cain says Obama impeachment would be 'a great thing'

(CNN) – Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain said it would be "great" to impeach the president, but that the Democratic controlled Senate would prevent such action.

On a conference call with bloggers Tuesday night, the former Godfather's Pizza CEO called the health care law and the Obama administration's stance over the Defense of Marriage Act impeachable offenses.

The news was first reported by POLITICO and later confirmed to CNN by the Cain campaign.

"There are a number of things where a case could be made in order to impeach him, but because Republicans do not control the United States Senate, they would never allow it to get off the ground," Cain said on the call. "The president is supposed to uphold the laws of this nation … and to tell the Department of Justice not to uphold the Defense of Marriage Act is a breach of his oath."

Cain just proves again that no one in the GOP has any connection with reality. I'm so tired of Palin, Bachmann, Perry, Cain.... just so tired.

Since Herman Cain is anti-Obama, according to all you liberals out there, he MUST be racist, right? Uh ... yeah, sure ... that MUST be why he doesn't like President Obama, because the color of his skin. Okay ... next useless comment about how only racists are anti-Obama please.

Cain has a very valid point, but I don't think Obama's transgression is worthy of impeachment.
It will be a big improvement for this nation when Obama is defeated in 2012. Getting Obama out of office can not come soon enough. But an impeachment process would do our nation more harm than good at this time. House Republicans can prevent Obama and progressive Democrats from doing more damage. Obama and the Democrats have to move to the right and compromise with Republicans for any bills to pass. So far Obama is just guilty of being a really bad President. Too bad the American people can't do a recall of Obama like was attempted in the Wisconsin Senate.

I think there are bigger issues this President could be impeached for. The DOJ selling guns to drug smugglers, and then those guns being used to kill people is two of them.

LOL! Then Reagan should have been impeached for Iran/Contra. Amazing the selective memories these republicans have.

Loser obama should be removed from office as soon as possible. He has been a huge failure and not to mention a chronic liar. He has circumvented congress on things that the people do not want like the dream act that was passed under executive order last friday "under the radar".This corrupt ,ignorant, moron, obama, needs to be removed .

Cain is one of the Tea Party favorites. Yet, the looney left claim the Tea Party is racist

Have you LISTENED to Mr. Cain Mike?
Do you NOT know that some Black people can indeed be (as stupid as it sounds) racist against other Black people.
History lesson. House servants versus field Negroes. Light skinned versus darker skinned Blacks. Read. Learn.
Sick Mike, but sadly also true.

Not an obama fan, but this sounds as stupid as the 'impeach Bush' crowd a few years back. If you don't like him, vote him out of office next year. Until then, stop the insane arguing and get back to work.

Lets face it people, Obama has been a failure. He most certainly has operated in the gray areas of our government and the law. Impeachable, probably. Will it happen, never

I think blatant lies should be removed from this thread, like this one, from user "all of america", who says:"He has circumvented congress on things that the people do not want like the dream act that was passed under executive order last friday "under the radar"

Well, looks like Cain is another Tea Partier who claims to love the Constitution but apparently has never read it. Neither of the instances he mentioned could in any way be defined as impeachable offenses both under the constitution and case law. But what do you expect from a guy whose claim to fame is running a mediocre pizza chain?

He has committed plenty of crimes against the Constitution to warrant impeachment, but with socialists controlling the Senate you could never get a conviction.

Is impeachment a new word now for "he is a Democrat and I disagree with him because he doesn't do what I want"? God almighty the GOP has lost its collective mind.
