Cain says Obama impeachment would be 'a great thing'

(CNN) – Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain said it would be "great" to impeach the president, but that the Democratic controlled Senate would prevent such action.

On a conference call with bloggers Tuesday night, the former Godfather's Pizza CEO called the health care law and the Obama administration's stance over the Defense of Marriage Act impeachable offenses.

The news was first reported by POLITICO and later confirmed to CNN by the Cain campaign.

"There are a number of things where a case could be made in order to impeach him, but because Republicans do not control the United States Senate, they would never allow it to get off the ground," Cain said on the call. "The president is supposed to uphold the laws of this nation … and to tell the Department of Justice not to uphold the Defense of Marriage Act is a breach of his oath."

OK, he wants the President impeached but I want him (and several other GOP candidates) committed. There is probably a lot better case to be made for throwing some of these losers into a looney bin that supporting impeachment of the President.

Don't you love the irony here? a member of a formerly (?) oppressed minority calling for the impeachment of a member of his own minority for wanting to end the oppression of another minority. does this idiot even see the irony here? and why does this idiot think he's even remotely qualified to be president, never having held even local office? if someone came to him and said 'i want to manage one of your stores, but i've never made a pizza or run a business,' do you think he would hire him? he'd laugh him out of his office. just like we need to laugh this clown off the national stage. i know bush set the bar pretty low, but he at least held office before trying for the presidency.

My God, what is it with Republican politicians. Even though voters *ELECT the President of the United States anytime they find something they don't like about a Democratic president they roll out this impeachment nonsense. Where was all this concern when President Bush was bankrupting us, engaging in an invasion based on unsourced intelligence, bugging private American citizen's communications devices, erasing the division of Church and State (and I'm a committed Christian by the way) and outing a CIA agent because their spouse disagreed and wrote an op-ed on all the lying. Where was Herman Cain when all of that was going on?

A lot of liberals want Obama to be impeached because he is a too much of a conservative and not interested in helping the country. Herman Cain is not a liberal or progressive by any means. He and his conservative pals are out to destroy the country and he wants Obama impeached because in the view of the GOP, Barack isn't moving fast enough in ruining the country on his own.

Really? These are not impeachable offenses. does this guy even have any idea of politics? Not the biggest fan of Obama, but this argument holds no water.

I think Cain is trying to back out of the race by sounding as stupid as he possibly can, or as stupid as he possibly can pretend to be. Sharp move, Herm.

Why do you people resort to name calling? Is it because you can't stand an opinion opposite your own, or is it because you don't have the intelligence to debate an issue. Whether you like him or not, he is at least trying to make a stand. What do those of you that attack and name call stand for besides living off of us taxpayers?

I like Herman Cain but he's way off here. I just don't see the "high crimes & misdemeanors" being present. We have bigger fish to fry than to conjure up some lame reason to toss Obama. Besides, 2012 will be here soon enough. Stop wasting our time Herman along with all the other Repubs and stick to the issues.

Here is the proof of how incredibly ignorant this man is. A federal official is impeached by a vote in the House. All Impeachment is are charges. A trial is then held in the Senate. The Senate acts as Jury. It takes 66 Senators to vote guilty in order for the official to be removed from office. There is no way that the Senate could block the bringing of charges. That is entirely the House of Representatives' responsibility. To be running for the Presidency of the United States and know so little about the Constitution is beyond the pale. Furthermore, the man has no chance of being nominated for President by the GOP that has a large percentage of racial bigots.

Calling him a Presidential Candidate is like calling the homeless guy in Times Square who yells at all the smokers a 'Candidate for Surgeon General'.

Impeachment? And what would you charge him with, you pizza-peddling puts (sic)? Or are you one of those dummies that thinks impeachment means direct removal? Were you even conscious during the 90's?

    BTW your pizza sux.

Pres. Obama will win a second term easily if people like Cain continue to embaress our nation with such negativity. We all know who lied to our face and it should go down as the 4 trillion dollar lie. That is approximately the cost of both wars. Our total debt is around 10 trillion to the American people and another 4 trillion to foreign countries. So Bush and his lies alone increased are debt by approx 30%. So let's just stop funding wars and we will be just fine. All this negativity and hatered is what's killing our country slowly. At this pace we will fall victim of self destruction no need for defense budget arguememts.

The one question I haven't heard answered is what would be the charge. What would the charge be to impeach Obama? I haven't heard anything that is worth impeachment. People shouldn't suggest things like this unless they have proof or at least some reason why. Just because the GOP don't like Obama because he got some of his agenda accomplished doesn't mean that you should call for impeachment. Bush should have been at least repremanded by Congress because of the faulty intelligence that lead to the conflict in Iraq.

Who cares? This is garbage. Our country is in the crapper and this is what is being covered. Why dont we all drive down to washington and slap everyone Republican and Democrat. Neither party is offering solutions. Debate is pointless if there is not an effort to find a solution. Creating plans that we all know will fail due to lack of bipartisan support is a waste of time and is only a form of political posturing. I hate our politicians generally speaking and think that if we as Americans continue to fail the sacrifices that formed this great nation by letting morons of the GOP and Democratic party ruin us..then no one failed us but ourselves. ugh..disgusting.
