Cain says Obama impeachment would be 'a great thing'

(CNN) – Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain said it would be "great" to impeach the president, but that the Democratic controlled Senate would prevent such action.

On a conference call with bloggers Tuesday night, the former Godfather's Pizza CEO called the health care law and the Obama administration's stance over the Defense of Marriage Act impeachable offenses.

The news was first reported by POLITICO and later confirmed to CNN by the Cain campaign.

"There are a number of things where a case could be made in order to impeach him, but because Republicans do not control the United States Senate, they would never allow it to get off the ground," Cain said on the call. "The president is supposed to uphold the laws of this nation … and to tell the Department of Justice not to uphold the Defense of Marriage Act is a breach of his oath."

Why does the GOP attract so many candidates who are completely unhinged?

Homophobes, racists, lunatics, morons, religious zealots, people who could not even pass a basic math class let alone a first year economics course.................seriously??? These are the best people the GOP have to run for President??? Don't get me wrong, the Dems have their share of whackos as well. What has happened to politics?? It seems like anyone who is actually qualified to run for president either have no interest in the job or they just don't provide the same media entertainment as the wingnuts.
Politics in the US have degenerated into two segments of polarized useless groups. It feels like the only media that needs to cover current politics in the US may as well be TMZ. Pathetic.

I Lol at the article. I don't agree with Cain at all. Unless Obama did what Nixon did with the Watergate scandal, I just don't see the point.

Of course if Republicans got their way, every Republican would want every Democrat impeached for being unpatriotic and visa versa.

Cain's just a couple weeks away from throwing in the towel, so he might as well throw away his integrity too.

This is why I'm no longer a Republican. Because this kind of delusional thinking is now the norm. Sad.

At some point Mr. Cain should stop being the minstrel show for the GOP. His tired "Flava Flav" act needs to end. Impeaching the President over policy disagreements would indicate that the GOP has no rationale for governing. Where was all this vitriol for fighting two wars off balance sheet, unprecedented tax cuts in war time and the creation of Medicaid Part D with no funding source. It is mind boggling that these characters have been allowed to dominate the national conversation.

Us Democrats need to WAKE up and realize we made a bad mistake putting obama in office. You all say cain is crazy at least he has a track record for success. What did Obama have? Nothing if we elect him again the country will be in a deep depression not recession but depression 75% of us democrats agree that obama is a failure. America is not he interest fame is in his interest. Anyone that sits under a preacher for 20 knows what that preacher believes and teaches. For his pastor to say " god damn america" because he was against the white men. We democrats deserve what we get for voting for obama. I will vote for cain any day than obama. I hope black people support cain instead of obama I think they will most of them know he didn't do nothing for them. America stand together in 2012 and vote REPUBLICAN!!!!!!!

When republicans don't do their jobs, why can't the president fire them? At my job, when a supervisor or manager tells you to do something you either do it or they fire you. It's that simple. You are expected to do what you are paid for. Also when they line their pockets at the expense of the country, why are they not imprisoned? I don't understand. Bribery is illegal but not if you are a republican politician.

Sooo? How many electoral votes does NJ have? Or you could take a popular vote what is the population of NJ compared to other states? And what a poll says today is a long way from Nov 2012. It also doesn't mean that people would vote for another person.

You want to impeach someone that is fighting for not only the middle class and the poor but the riches. As a nation we can never go far, because we keep focusing on senseless issues. If we were putting our heads together and work together as republicans and democrats we probably would of never seen the country in this situation.Republicans will only keep fighting for the riches but not society in a whole. Incredible!!!

    Hi Cain,
Never mind the economy never mind jobs let's concentrate on the social Issues and ousting the President (and while you are at it why not include DADT repeal and add Abortion rights to the list of impeachables) and change the subject to Impeachment so that the dysfunctional congress sinks us further into the mire.
    OMG/LOL
    Hodgson.

Cain, at this point, should definitely know he's not going to win anything. For him to come out and spout something as ridiculous as this just trashes his own future in whatever endeavor he decides to take on. Seems like he would at least have the decency to not mock the President of the United States with such ridiculous childish comments. He's too old to be that foolish.

Where does Herman Cain get off telling gay people that they can't be equal. Maybe we should tell Herman Cain that we're going to go back to the days when black people weren't equal too.

Obama could not be impeached fast enough!! He has his hands in all the cookie jars...Banks, Mortgages, Auto, oil, oil spills, oil cleanup...Lining his pockets with our money. He has done nothing to help this economy but slick talk. Need proof?? Did you see the DOW plummet from -314 to -543 as he spoke on TV. Other countries think he is a fool and he has no credibility with
them either...to quote Top Gun.."all you did was weaken a country, thats all you did, you have no idea how to defend a nation.
I would rather you just said thank you and went about your way...either way..Americans have the right to IMPEACH!!!!
