Cain says Obama impeachment would be 'a great thing'

(CNN) – Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain said it would be "great" to impeach the president, but that the Democratic controlled Senate would prevent such action.

On a conference call with bloggers Tuesday night, the former Godfather's Pizza CEO called the health care law and the Obama administration's stance over the Defense of Marriage Act impeachable offenses.

The news was first reported by POLITICO and later confirmed to CNN by the Cain campaign.

"There are a number of things where a case could be made in order to impeach him, but because Republicans do not control the United States Senate, they would never allow it to get off the ground," Cain said on the call. "The president is supposed to uphold the laws of this nation … and to tell the Department of Justice not to uphold the Defense of Marriage Act is a breach of his oath."

And one other thing CAIN, the healthcare bill was voted into effect by the legislative branch of the government and signed by the president. That is the way our democratic way of government works. Obviously you haven't a clue since all you have done is run a business in which you could be dictator in charge and fire people who disagree with your baloney. And by the way, Obama doesn't have to check in with you regarding his stances on many things. He is the president and you are nobody.

If we want to get into a discussion about Presidents doing things they shouldn't, there's this war crimes tribunal looking for a certain George W Bush...

Blah blah blah. Neither of those examples are impeachable offenses. Just because you don't like the guy doesn't mean we should impeach him. If you're so fed up with him, just run a good campaign and get him out of office...or are you scared you can't do that much?

You should be anyway. You're a pretty huge fool from what I can tell.

This guy is an idiot! Impeach the president dfor trying to get health care to all people & for believeing all people should be able to live in a loving relationship are impeachable offenses? Are you kidding me? Yet I am sure he supported the illegal invasion of Iraq, based on lies by President Bush resultiung in the unnecessary deaths, (some would say murders), as not being an impeachable offense? Idiocy at it's finest!

These right wing folks will say anything these days to get a headline. Just trying to out do each other with the most outlandish remarks possible.
At some time before the primary they will need to move on to eating their young.

Right. Sure. Just like you republicans look the other way and create loopholes for each other when it comes to hiring illegals to pick crops and kill the environment. It would be funny if it were fiction.

So, according to Herman, it would have been an impeachable offense for a President to refuse to appeal a lower court decision strking down an old federal statute prohibiting the recognition of interracial marriages?

Impeached for what? Trying to make things better? Trying to help the American people? Obeying the Constitution? Cleaning up a mess that Bush left him? Trying to keep America afloat when Bush spent us into the poorhouse? Obama hasn't done anything to be impeached for. He's done a lot to prove he should be re-elected because he's tried to put this country back on track after Bush derailed it.

Now Bush and his bunch have publicly admitted to breaking the law with waterboarding and violating the Constitution multiple times. They openly ignored and worked against the first, fourth and fifth amendments. They completely stripped the American people of civil liberties. They should be serving 40 years at Leavenworth right now. Why weren't they impeached during those eight horrible years they were in the White House?

I bet you do think that would be a great thing. I think it would be a great thing if the status of "human being" was impeached from all of those who wish to limit the rights of others.

If I ever hear Herman Cain make an intelligent comment, I think I'd faint.

With the exception of Ron Paul, the current GOP line-up is pretty pathetic (and while I like some of Mr. Paul's ideas, he's probably too far to the right to win a general election). Interestingly enough, the GOP's most electable official BY FAR (Gov. Christie) does not seem interested in running.

Oh my. Yes, GOP, impeach the President. That worked real well the last time you tried. Let's see, Bill Clinton left office with a 63% approval rating, higher than even the god Reagan. Mr. Cain, I think it's time you went back to making pizza.
