Bachmann reaches out to religious leaders in S.C.

(CNN) - Republican presidential candidate Michele Bachmann will hold a meeting with pastors in Florence during her three-day visit to South Carolina.

The Thursday afternoon gathering with religious leaders, which is closed to reporters, is being organized by the Florence County Republican Party and the Florence County Tea Party, according to a copy of the invitation obtained by CNN.

Perry hits back at Obama over jobs

Bedford, New Hampshire (CNN) – Republican presidential candidate Rick Perry chided President Obama Wednesday, saying "actions speak louder than words" during a speech notable for its sustained criticism of the president's economic policies.

Perry was responding to Obama's comment Tuesday that the Texas governor has "got to be careful" now that he's on a big stage.

Lieberman: Undecided about 2012 endorsement

(CNN) - Independent Sen. Joe Lieberman has yet to decide if he will support President Barack Obama in the 2012 election.

On CNN's "American Morning," the Connecticut senator, who caucuses with the Democrats, said the election is important and he hopes to be involved.

Dems jab Romney with apparel

(CNN) - Democrats are continuing to fundraise off a comment made last week by Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney, this time with t-shirts mocking the former Massachusetts governor.

The $30 shirts from the Democratic National Committee show Romney with a thumbs up above the words "some of my best friends are corporations."

Rudy 2012 decision coming ... by September

(CNN) – Rudy Giuliani is still considering a presidential bid and said on CNN's "Piers Morgan Tonight" he will make a decision by the end of September.

But the former New York City mayor and 2008 Republican presidential candidate said he is not "any closer to a decision."

President Obama to address jobs in early September speech

Washington (CNN) - Right after Labor Day, President Barack Obama will speak to the nation about the labor situation, a senior administration official told CNN on Wednesday.

The president plans to deliver a speech about a package of new initiatives designed to grow the economy and create jobs, then he'll spend the fall pushing Congress to pass those measures, the official said.

2 Democrats keep their seats in Wisconsin recall election

(CNN) - Two Democratic state senators in Wisconsin defeated Republican challengers to hold on to their seats in a recall election Tuesday, news media in the state reported.

Tuesday's win by the Democrats was the last round in a series of recall elections this summer.
