Perry hits back at Obama over jobs

Bedford, New Hampshire (CNN) - Republican presidential candidate Rick Perry chided President Obama Wednesday, saying "actions speak louder than words" during a speech notable for its sustained criticism of the president's economic policies.

Perry was responding to Obama's comment Tuesday that the Texas governor has "got to be careful" now that he's on a big stage.

"I think that everybody who runs for president probably takes a little bit of time before they start realizing that this isn't like running for governor, or running for senator, or running for Congress," Obama told CNN's Wolf Blitzer in Iowa. "You've got to be more careful with what you say."

Speaking at a salon of New Hampshire politicos at the Politics and Eggs breakfast in Bedford, Perry acknowledged the president's snub.

"I just want to respond back if I may," he said. "Mr. President, actions speak louder than words. My actions as governor are helping create jobs in this country. The president's actions are killing jobs in this country."

Perry also brushed aside critics who charge his oft-touted record of job creation in Texas is largely due to luck.

"There have been some over on the left that said the fact is that those 40 percent of the jobs created in America ... since June of 2009 was just luck," Perry said. "Mr. President, America's crisis is not bad luck, it's bad policies from Washington, D.C."

@Anna – you'd be better served to listen to the "rude" man. He speaks the truth! What has Nobama done other than to kill jobs?

@Jaywing – you sound like you are of the opposite color and just a tad racist!

I am not an american though I visit quite often,I am shocked that the name rick perry is coming up as a presidential candidate(although folks like hannity and o reily 'll differ)its a shame that texans even elected the man as their governor, but comparing him to obama is like comparing the la clippers to the la lakers, obama has the best plan and intention for america, although he's not as forceful as he should in passing some of his reforms.

The problem is that the representatives and senators we sent to Washington have messed up the system for their own PORK. They need to work for the people and not for the benefit of the lobbyists.

CNN can block this comment too -

Jobs? Texas has the highest number of minimum wage jobs in the country, also without health insurance benefits. A recipe for fiscal failure under the NEXT governor of Texas.

Also, what is Mr. Perry doing about the record DROUGHT in his state? Isn't WATER sort of, well, an emergency? And the CESSESSIONIST talk, so American!!

Regarding President Obama, talk about "hate in your heart." It doesn't matter what he does, some of you just can't stand a person of color in the Whitehouse, and it sticks out all over you. Like all of us Barack Obama is not perfect, but the "empty suit" crap just gives away the racist game.

Unfortunately I am greatly afraid Rick Perry could end up as Presidency because he is white, reasonably attractive, and knows how to sell himself to a population interested in soundbites and easy-sounding solutions. As far as his willingness to mix church and state, someone name me one religious empire in history having to do with the "people of the book" – that's Judaism, Christianity, Islam – that didn't end in a bloodbath for someone.

Notice how dems never talk about Obamas record? and when they are forced to, it always begins with repubs or tea partiers obstructions hahaha! repubs?! tea partiers?! but they are so insignificant! the majority of Americans do not agree with them! so . . . dems want elected officials to ignore repubs who vote them in, and cater to the side who tried to defeat them and called them terrorists, or something cute like that hahaha! it is like Obama said, elections have consequences. even recalls. 🙂

Perry/Bush. Almost identical twins. Except that Perry is even more scary if that is possible. Another ultra right wing nut.

I wonder if the presidency paid the same minimum wage that the jobs Perry has "created" pay if he would still be applying for that job.

Perry is a career politician...except for flying cargo planes. Taking more credit than he deserves for the Texas economy.
...and he used to be a Democrat.

How about the commission he disbanded which was looking into if the state of Texas executed an innocent man. Texas has more border problems than any other state. What has he done about that?

So what does the GOP know about economic growth? Really? After all they are responsible for the worst economic crisis in America since the Great Depression and I will repeat this again and again until president Obama is re-elected in 2012. And by the way, where are the jobs the GOP controlled House promised? So far they have not created one frigging job and you know it because if they had, they'd be bragging about it. So where are the jobs you promised John Boehner and Eric Cantor? O' excuse me, your main objective of taking control of the House was to create more policy delaying roadblock for the Obama administration. Governor Perry please go away.

I was just talking to god and he told me that he wants parry to move to Rome and become a bath-boy for the cardinals.
He says that parry does not understand the messages the visions are giving him.
Rick they mean bath-boy for the cardinals in Rome.

Maybe this is the 2nd time, in Obama's adult life that he has been proud of America? (as was stated in 2008, by his wife- something happened that she liked and she proclaimed that it was the first time in her adult life she was proud of America- I wonder where Obama was that day- maybe praying with his Reverend White?)

At least Parry is reminding people that George W. Bush was ever'd think from the way the teabaggers talk that 2000-2009 never happened and that Obama squandered Clinton's surplus with tax cuts for the rich (which the Republicans continue to demand at any cost to the 99%ers). Obama won the first time by not being George W. Bush, I think if Parry is the nominee he will have just as smooth of a ride.

Also, Obama got Osama in case anyone needed reminding. I know the Tealiban has short memories.

If the tax cuts he is touting produced jobs in Texas, why can't it be replicated in the Federal system and other red states where tax breaks to the rich and corporations have been the mantra?

If your state is suffering from lack of employment blame your Governor not the President. Romney and Perry have said that they have created jobs as Governor and that is who creates jobs, not the President. Romney nor Perry have no experience in creating jobs as a President. If Romney and Perry are so damm good at creating jobs why dont they keep creating jobs ? You sure as heck dont have to be President to create jobs. People have got to start going after the people who are responsible for creating jobs and that is Governors, local government and local business. Governors dont leave their state and head to the Whitehouse and all of sudden create jobs in every state, it just does not happen. All Governors need to get their States working !!!

  24. Ricky, just keep praying...

I wonder if Rick "I'm Seceding" Perry is planing to pray before or after he announces his states secession, or maybe it will be during his prayer. Well Ricky boy, pray real hard for all those lives lost in the Iraq war, a war your president, and your state oil companies pushed to get us involved in. Pray real hard Ricky boy, for the 1.3 Trillion that this unnecessary and unfunded war cost American taxpayers. Pray real hard Ricky boy, that the 49 other states don't find out the truth on how the state of Texa*s received the greatest amount of federal monies, more than any other state during the eight Bush years. Pray real real hard Ricky boy, that no one gets the scoop on how your state of Texa*s is getting four new house seats based on the results of the 2010 census, and thanks to your state counting millions of illegal aliens as residents.
