Bedford, New Hampshire (CNN) – Republican presidential candidate Rick Perry chided President Obama Wednesday, saying "actions speak louder than words" during a speech notable for its sustained criticism of the president's economic policies.
Perry was responding to Obama's comment Tuesday that the Texas governor has "got to be careful" now that he's on a big stage.
"I think that everybody who runs for president probably takes a little bit of time before they start realizing that this isn't like running for governor, or running for senator, or running for Congress," Obama told CNN's Wolf Blitzer in Iowa. "You've got to be more careful with what you say."
Speaking at a salon of New Hampshire politicos at the Politics and Eggs breakfast in Bedford, Perry acknowledged the president's snub.
"I just want to respond back if I may," he said. "Mr. President, actions speak louder than words. My actions as governor are helping create jobs in this country. The president's actions are killing jobs in this country."
Perry also brushed aside critics who charge his oft-touted record of job creation in Texas is largely due to luck.
"There have been some over on the left that said the fact is that those 40 percent of the jobs created in America ... since June of 2009 was just luck," Perry said. "Mr. President, America's crisis is not bad luck, it's bad policies from Washington, D.C."
I wonder how many of those jobs are going to illegal aliens? That should work out well when his plan to turn Social Security over to the states is enacted.
Rick seems to be a flim-flam man. He talks big but it all just BS. These posts are interesting. I didn't know some of the things folks talk about here. He's a typical career politician and apparently the only thing he's good at is exaggerating his accomplishments. I'm sure there are plenty of dim-wits waiting to vote for him. Lord help us if he wins.
Perry job = Would you like fries with that !!
Yes, Texas leads the country in minimum wage jobs and a decline in IT jobs and we have Gov Perry to thank for it
And George... because sadly the good ole boy network in Texas is strong. Yes, he's been voted in mainly because we had no credible ther to vote for. Perry has big money and power to be his henchmen And yes, Texas has a lot of conservatives and they are mindless.
Parry condemned two innocent men to death for crimes they did not commit. One was an accidental fire that claimed the lives of a man's wife and two kids. It was erroneously ruled an arson and when evidence came out that the 'fire marshall' was not qualified to make the decision, Parry ignored the evidence and the father was executed. Would you rather have a president that has executed an innocent grieving father or a president that has executed the world's most wanted terrorist?
The elitists are in a panic. Keep on hitting back!!! I agree with the post that if Texans hate Perry soooo much why is he the longest serving governor in the history of Texas. I think alot of these elitist posters are NOT from Texas.
I live and work in Texas, and I see what Perry is doing as far as jobs go 33,00 renewals for TANF, SNAP and Medicaid. No one has a JOB, SO nothing o worry about!
Job growth in Texas, yes. But these are mostly minimum wage, or low paying, jobs with no benefits. Easy to pull this off in a border state. Try it in Pennsylvania. Also, what's this about the mandated injection serum being produced by a company that he has a financial interest in? Looks like just another politician, folks.
Only a paranoid could construe that anything that the President said was an attack or a slur. It sounded like a wise bit of advice to me, but then again, I'm certifiably sane.
I live in Texas, it is very sad when you walk into a Wal-Mart or pull up to a fast food place and see people over the age of 30, 40 and 50 working there trying to support a family on a medium wage job, when you should see high school or college students working. Perry has turned Texas into a state of “have’s, Have not’s and people who clean up behind them”
Well, republicans are only for wealthy Americans and big corporations, they have not done good to middle class Americans.
I have witnessed many time that Republicans have always led this country in big trouble and then attack the ones who are trying to control their legacy of damage to the country.
Country need a better system to create or amend new policy for tax for big corporations and wealthy Americans.
The reason why there is no work in the United States, is based on greed of the Fortune 500 companies in the United States these companies came up with the idea of NAFTA, and they lobbied Washington DC to get it passed, so they could get at all of this cheap labor in other countries, and their tax shelters.
The Fortune 500 companies get all of their money back into the United States tax-free through loopholes and backdoors.
The real treasonous traitors of the American people are the Fortune 500 companies that's why there's (( no WORK or tax REVENUE in the United States.))
Considering the "jobs" in Texas he supposedly created were jobs he took from other states by low wage/tax incentive to corporations. How does that help jobs nation-wide (doesn't). Texas has the highest percentage of minimum wage jobs in the U.S. for the reasons mentioned above, has hire unemployment than the surroundings states (so what's he so proud of)Texas has the 4th highest uninsured rate for children in the U.S., the 48th in school academic scores, the highest toxic emissions in the U.S.. He says Texas has four basic principles to government, one of which is, "Don't spend more than you."I won't waste my time with the other three. Texas recieves more federal funding then it pays in Taxes. He wants to eliminate taxes and Social Security? Speaking of taxes. we in Texas don't have state tax, but we pay higher property taxes and taxes on goods. Actually, the lowest in the economy pay more on these taxes. Now that's good economics (NOT). Perry uses big words that are as empty as he is. Nevermind insenstive and a hypocrite. You can think he's a big man in big boots, but he's not. BTW, he prayed for rain a few months ago. Texas now has the worst drought in history.
I wish if it was possible Perry to work in a State like Michigan as a Gov. for at least 3 months and we see how many jobs he would create there. That could be the proof/indicator that he is a job creator or it is just only talks.
I think Perry needs to explain why he was a coward and didn't serve in combat in Vietnam - he, instead, did what Cheney did, and used a college deferment to stay out of harm's way. Also, George W. Bush was a coward as well, as his father pulled strings during the Vietnam War and got Bush a spot in the National Guard, which was another way the well-connected could stay out of combat in Vietnam. Perry is a clone of Bush. Both were cowards during the Vietnam war, and pulled strings to stay out of combat.
Pastor Perry has no business preaching his job creation rhetoric. Oh, and the press is searching for skeletons as we speak....
Polls after polls voters are looking for leader who can unite the nation not divider.
“actions speak louder than words” true look Rick Perry policies after 10 years literacy rate will be high in Texas
