(CNN) - Former Treasury official Bruce Bartlett labeled newly-minted Republican presidential candidate Rick Perry "an idiot" Friday.
Bartlett, who served at Treasury under former President George H.W. Bush and as a domestic policy adviser to the late President Ronald Reagan, delivered the choice words to the Texas Gov. in reference to his recent comments about Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke.
Perry sparked controversy when he said Bernanke would be "treasonous" if he printed more money to stimulate the economy before the 2012 election.
"I mean, printing more money to play politics at this particular time in American history is almost treacherous, or treasonous, in my opinion," Perry said Monday in Iowa. He stood by his comments Tuesday.
Bartlett said the politics at the Federal Reserve are a serious problem and in part blamed U.S. presidents, who he said have historically not focused their energies on the bank.
"He [Obama] has had open seats on the fed almost his entire presidency and I think that this sends a signal that he just doesn't care very much about what the fed does," Bartlett said.
Despite serving in Republican administrations, Bartlett is no stranger to GOP criticism, particularly of former President George W. Bush.
Bartlett's 2006 book "Imposter: How George W. Bush Bankrupted America and Betrayed the Reagan Legacy" accused the administration of departing from conservative economic principles. More recently he attributed the economic recession to the former president and Republican Party.
Team Perry did not immediately respond for a request for comment.

Can't blame the "leftist lamestream media" for this one.
Karl Rove is NOT the leader of the Republican Party......he just thinks he is!
"More recently he attributed the economic recession to the former president and Republican Party."
Indeed. I'll second that.
Thank you Bruce Bartlett. I'm glad well respected people see him as an idiot, becuase that is exactly what he is. He is slowly self destructing.
The Republican party is to blame for the economy problems. George W. Bush only worked to make his big business buddies happy and fat, at the cost of millions of Americans. Now the Tea Party and its Republican puppets want to continue the trend. When they say, "No more blank checks for the President," its because they want those blank checks for themselves!! I voted Republican 100% all my life until the GW Bush years. I'm totally convinced that my decision to vote Democrat and Independent since have been the right choices!!
Sure I would disagree. The Fed has been extending this depression, with bad monetary policy, which just keeps the pain in place, instead of allowing time to solve our problems. Perry knows that, and his comments, while using wrong words, were meant to show that it is time to stop trying to spend our way, out of the problem, which simply isn't possible.
I agree....He's an idiot!
Yes he is triple idiot. What was he thinking?? Did he think he is running to be the President of Texas???
He said that? Whoa. Does this mean that we are allowed to agree and Gooberner Perry an idiot, too?
Well Rick Perry is an idiot. They are all idiots. The lawmakers in Washington are terrorists destroying our economy.
It's great to know that we are sinking fast.
Perry, "your evangelical loonies in the south, and your Ceo Buddies, are not going to be enough for you to win Janitor of the White House??? I don,t know if anybody notices, "The evil blackness in this guys eyes??? About the same as "The great White Shark, except a great white is very particular about its "Pray"!!! Perry is going to "Attack anything that moves!!! I,m not going into these waters!!!! No Thanks.
The sky is falling, the sky is falling . . . . I just read about a Republican who tells the truth. As a liberal thinking individual, I'm not overly excited about my presidents negotiating strategy. However, when Republicans continue to nominate and support "idiots", (O'Donnell, Engle, Bachman, Palin, and now Perry), there are no options. I'm judging slowly on my president and hope his second term provides more support for working men and women who are hurting the most with the do nothing congress (Remember the 2010 campaign mantra from republicans, JOBS, JOBS, JOBS. Twelve bills passed this republican congress; Half of them naming bridges, and not one bill for jobs.
Okay, Perry's academic transcript from Texas A&M college has been released, and his grades alone should put this issue to rest. The man is indeed an idiot, and academically inept. It should be telling that the man failed courses in his own major (he was trying to be a veterinarian... be glad he's not working on your dog), and that he only got a "D" in economics. Seriously! This is the man who wants to dictate major economic decisions for the largest economy in the world... and he almost failed basic college economics.
I know, there are people out here who seem to think that having "Joe-the-Undereducated" as President is a good idea. "He's like us," they say. They want someone on "their own level" leading them.
Listen up, America... the rich politicians are nothing like the rest of us because they live in a posh little bubble. And yes, that applies to most of them, from both parties. They're not us. HOWEVER, as an Army veteran, I always wanted my leaders to be at least as smart as me, and preferably smarter. The higher up the chain of leadership, the smarter they should be. I want leaders with a rare combination of both brainpower and training. I want someone who understands enough about economics and politics so as not to sink us.
You don't have an idiot who never went to college performing brain surgery on you, right? You want the smartest and best surgeon, someone who completed years of med school, residency, and specialty fellowship, right? Why? Because your life would be at stake.
Now, I want you (yes, you) to listen closely: Lives are at stake. Quite literally. A massive economic downturn costs human life. People can't afford decent food (or ANY food), people who had worked hard all their lives end up homeless, and people with severe health conditions can't afford to see a doctor. Do you see that this actually does kill people?
I'm sorry, but I want my leaders to have both the education and raw intelligence to put them into the realm of the academic elite. I don't want someone who got a D in economics to lead my country through an economic crisis. What do you want?
"Bartlett, who served at Treasury under former President George H.W. Bush and as a domestic policy adviser to the late President Ronald Reagan, delivered the choice words to the Texas Gov. in reference to his recent comments about Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke."
"Bartlett's 2006 book "Imposter: How George W. Bush Bankrupted America and Betrayed the Reagan Legacy" accused the administration of departing from conservative economic principles. More recently he attributed the economic recession to the former president and Republican Party."
So, here we have a former Treasury official who served under the "greatest GOP president of them all" who thinks Perry is an idiot. This same official also places blame on W. Curious as to why none of the tea party scholars can't seem to come to grips with this.
Parry has shown a propensity to grow govt in Texas, heck the largest net job growth was in State Government jobs.
The idiot label is appropriate.
And this is coming from a conservative.
Ouch, that must hurt. Look, the GOP is relying on their beautiful women to make the 'out-of-bounds' comments, but now 'pretty boy' Perry is joining the fray. All surface, and no substance is their mantra by adding the phrase to the end of each of their views, " Obama should have.... blah, blah, blah". All hot air from people with pretty hair. Meanwhile, even the Republicans who do speak clearly and with solid research are criticized by these wacko crazies. It should all end in 2012 if the general voter has any sense.
The Perry campaign is playing out like a slow motion train wreck – at some time in the near futrue it will be a total derailment.
"Rick Perry's an idiot, and I don't think anyone would disagree with that," Bartlett said Friday on CNN's "American Morning."
I certainly won't be the first to dispute that statement. But, at first, he didn't LOOK like an idiot. Oh, well who's the next dunce to audition?
This is going to be entertaining, watching Perry dig a very deep hole for himself. Yeah! a new character for SNL!
Astute observation by Bartlett.
Actually doesn't take much to realize that Perry is a complete idiot.
["I mean, printing more money to play politics at this particular time in American history is almost treacherous, or treasonous, in my opinion," Perry said]
But that SAME printed money was given to you in a way of a "stimulus" that enabled YOU to create jobs – What's up with that? PerryWinkle is and "idiot" and as the days go on, it shows!!
Good, someone with government and economic expertise is finally talking to these morons in the same language the rest of us have been using for over twelve years.
Who in the, cares about what Gov. Perry says!! He will say anything to get people talking. And what do we do? TALK. He is a Tea Partier thru and thru, and will do everything he can to keep himself in the media. Remember, words do hurt, but, he does not care!! Do we really want a president that will divide people of all classes, except for the TP, instead of bringing people together. Also, would you please talk about what you would do for the people of our country, because we know there is no such thing as $2.00 gas. And tell the truth, and know what your talking about before you part your lips!
Well said!
If you're willing to both believe that Perry is a "prophet" while being a major porn investor, you're an idiot also.
Uh oh. Now I guess team Perry is going to ask God to kill Bruce Bartlett for stating the obvious. Of course, if the Perry team's success with praying for rain is any indication, Bartlett will likely live to be a 100.
Now mind you, this is a REPUBLICAN outting Perry for being an idiot! This is a man with no axe to grind. To use Perry`s own words against him, Bartlett is motivated to expose Perry because he LOVES AMERICA and wants to prevent it from the mistake a Rick Perry presidency would be.
My question for Perry is: would he loosen oil exploration regulations in the Gulf of Mexico, as part of his "job creating skillset"? It`s been 1 year since the Deepwater Horizon well rupture was capped by President Obama.
Would Perry have been inclined or able to put BP on the hook for $20B. like Obama?
Well, that pretty much says it then doesn't it...so much for the Eleventh Commandment. Good for him!
What do you know... a republican called it correctly for a change.
People can't claim liberalism on this guy. He worked for Reagan and the elder Bush. So why is it when a Republican criticizes another republican, he gets labeled "liberal"? It is time some republicans take responsibility for the mess we're in. Obama didn't create this mess, but everyone is trying to pin the ENTIRE issue on him. I'm not saying he's done everything right (NO president has including Reagan – BTW who started defecit spending).
Anyway, people might want to listen to what this guy has to say. beware of Rick Perry.
Um, Well
There have been "Idiots" elected President before. I give you Slick Willie. Now, printing more money with nothing to back it up is pretty idioic if you ask me. Maybe helping to get to another depression isn't Treasonis but it isn't smart. As long as the people pass the buck they deserve exactly what they vote for.
Uh oh... no doubt Mr. Bartlett will soon be labeled a traitor by Team Perry.
wow Republicans calling other Republicans idiots...OMG what would Ronald Regan say about THIS???
So not only is he an idiot he also believes his christianity should be manadated. Recently he convened a Christian prayer breakfast only ,for techers before the start of the school year. No other religions allowed. Guess he realized he needed G-d help since he has gutten the school budgets, have "evangelicalized" the text books and Texas now has the privilege of 50% HS DROP OUT RATE.
Call it what it is!
"Rick Perry's an idiot, and I don't think anyone would disagree with that," Bartlett said Friday on CNN's "American Morning."
------------
thanks for the candid comments Mr Obvious, but you are wrong about people disagreeing.....the sheep and lemmings who belong to the Borg collective will now renounce you as a traitor, RINO, whatever.
In the photo attached to this article he even looks like an idiot.
"He [Obama] has had open seats on the fed almost his entire presidency and I think that this sends a signal that he just doesn't care very much about what the fed does," Bartlett said.
There has been secret republican hold on almost all of Obama's nominations. It’s very dishonest not to make that clarification. This is further evidence of the republicans wish to keep America down for the sake of benefiting them politically. Fact is Bush drove us into a ditch and the republican party wants us to stay there until the next election.
The world know that Rick Perry an Idiot
Pervez Musharraf, wants Rick Perry to run for president so they can play fool around us
"Rick Perry's an idiot, and I don't think anyone would disagree with that," ~ it's nice to see honesty return to the Republican Party. No matter how small a display.
Has anyone asked Perry if Africa is a continent or country yet? (Of course the big oil companies want someone they can manipulate and the less intelligent the better.)
Bottom line: Rick Perry is NOT electable, no matter what the hype machine spews out.
If the Republican Tea Party does not want four more years of Obama, they'll shove this turd underneath the bus and look for someone with a college average above a C to run this country.
This guy is a slap in the face to the intelligence of the citizens of this country. He is the male equivalent of a Palin in terms of how ignorant he is and the equivalent of Bush in terms of how proud he is of his ignorance. There are much better people in the Republican party who should be nominated to represent the party and appeal to moderate America. We may criticize Obama, but whats even more certain is that this guy would be much worse in oh so many ways.
Spot on, Mr. Bartlett. "Idiot" pretty much sums it up. Now, why hasn't God told Perry he's an idiot?
Nailed it, Bruce!!
When is someone in the media going to ask Perry about the 28 Billion dollar budget short fall this year in Texas and how many of the jobs he's bragging about still exist?
Guess what, Perry's an idiot. Those of use who've been paying attention knew that already, but thanks for the validation.
Republican Bruce Bartlett (who served under Bush I and Reagan) is a hero for having the courage to publicly write a book saying the George W. Bush (Bush II) and his Republican cronies bankrupt our country and are responsible for the recession we are in. I have been writing about this on the blogs for several years now. Wake up America, don't vote any more Republicans into Congress or the Presidency. Like FDR, it will take time for Obama to get us out of the mess that the evil Republicans caused.
Rick McDaniel
Sure I would disagree. The Fed has been extending this depression, with bad monetary policy, which just keeps the pain in place, instead of allowing time to solve our problems. Perry knows that, and his comments, while using wrong words, were meant to show that it is time to stop trying to spend our way, out of the problem, which simply isn't possible.
___________________________________________________________
let's see...you take the rants of a man who graduated with 2.0 in Animal Science over a former GOP Treasury official? What Bartlett said needs to be heeded by those that are simply trying to whip up partisan fury instead of solving the problem. Bartlett was serving this country at the highest levels when Perry was still trolling for bribes from the petrochem industry while in the TX state legislature: in other words, Perry is a mouthpiece to whomever pays him. He offers no solutions, only attacks for his opponants and tax breaks for the wealthy. He does their bidding: does that sound like a leader or a follower? More to the point, what policies from the Fed have extended the bad economy, and why would they do so, since its an even split of GOP and Democratic appointees? Look at what they ahve done, not what Perry tells you.
No kidding, Sherlock. It does not take a rocket scientist to figure that one out.
Now, I admit what I can't figure out, is the people that support Perry and, hence since he is an idiot, what would you call his supporters?
No not Perry, say it ain't so. But guess what ther are a bunch of yahoos out there who will try to ellect this idiot
How can the secessionist accuse someone else of treason?
Yes! Call him out. Perry's comment was stupid and he should come down from the ivory tower. This is the 21st century not the 1700's.
After 6 days I can see the "EPIC FAIL" stamp on his campaign.
I disagree. It's the people who voted for him that are idiots.
I second that! Oh wait...need to get in line.
At least there's one Republican who tells the truth! I'm a Texan and believe me, Perry is an idiot!
America is not ready for a president that uses a curling iron.
Isn't an "idiot Tea Parytier" an oxy moron?
Perry is no George Bush clone. Bush wasn't the smartest president but he was no idiot. Perry is an idiot. What a pathetic field of GOP/Tea Party presidential candidates. They want to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.
I understand a lot of people want to attack his grades as proof that he's inept. It's an easy target. But look, if he was pre-vet, that's a really hard major. I major in zoology, and I barely made it through. Extremely tough curriculum. After Organic Chem 1 and 2, Genetics, Physics 1 and 2, Calculus, Physiology, Cellular Biology, etc etc, its easy to get some bad grades.
Most of my friends in college were business majors. I was jealous of the difficulty level of their classes.
All that being said, Perry IS an idiot. I'm really pulling for him to win the nomination, because I think it would be fantastic theatre to see him going up against President Obama.
'Trending: Perry is an Idiot'......Since when was he trending in that direction – looks to me like he was born that way.
Hopefully other prominent Republicans will grow a backbone and come out against the current crop of GOP candidates. We deserve people who can articulate a policy that will get the USA going again. Instead we get morons who will say anything just to get some press coverage.
"Perry didn't respond". Because he couldn't figure out how to make the internet thingy work.
If the label fits, you got to wear it. Perry is an idiot and his grades in college help prove it.
I agree Mr. Bartlett, Rick Perry is an idiot, perfect example: He called for us to pray for rain, which hasn't come yet here in Texas, yet doesn't believe in Global Warming.
On the flip side when it does rain here in Texas, Rick Perry won't have sense to come in out of it!!
Is Bruce Bartlett any relation to Jed Bartlett?
He IS an idiot. What moronic statements these Republican POTUS wannabees make. Don't they realize how stupid they sound? Guess not, since they continue to entertain us.
I agree with all the negative comments about Perry's policies but it would be a big mistake to"misunderestimate" him. We've made that mistake before. He, and Bauchman are both serious threats to our democracy as is the tea bag party they serve. But they are not dumb. They need to be fought with reasoned arguments name calling will not help us a bit. Show the voters where they are wrong and these candidates will be dfeated, keep calling them names and we will not like the outcome.
Perry names the Fed as being counter-productive to the problem we have and he's correct! Printing billons out of thin air lowers the value of the dollar and has done nothing to help the economy. The Fed has also refused to even acknowledge the inflation that is driving prices of food and fuel out of reach of the working class. Mr Bartlett is getting a little liberal in his views, so he's entitled to his opinion, but he's wrong. .....JD– Texas balanced it's budget this year by cutting spending, something that is foreign to the Federal Government.
Perry may be an idiot, time will tell, but Bruce Bartlett is an opportunist. He has created a personal cottage industry around criticizing the GOP in order to curry fame from a lusty left-leaning media.
Bruce Bartlett was never a principal in the Conservative movement. He never was considered a thought leader. He is simply parlaying his former buraucrat status into a payday by bashing Republicans. Today he argues in favor of policy that Reagan would excoriate and yet claims to be the arbiter on who abides by the Reagan revolution.
He is a shill and an opportunist.
I own a staffing business in Houston, TX. I challenge anyone to say Texas hasn't been the place to be during this recession. And I am not placing minimum wage jobs either! 155 companies alone last year moved from California (not to pick on CA. Just numbers I am using) to Texas. And we're seeing a big increase in population from other states in terms of potential workers. The problem is going to be how do we keep up with population growth. People and companies are escaping higher taxes, bad employment markets, higher cost of living and higher cost of doing business (I get this from new Texans I interview). Just is what it is. The media isn't being honest and they are twisting things to their liberal advantage. Sorry, for to those that don't want to hear the truth.
George Bush's fault, George Bush's fault, George Bush's fault – grow up kids, at some point the Dem's have to stop putting the blame on everyone but themselves, Obams has the Congress he wanted for two years and still could not do anthing! The economy sucks, job market sucks and deficit over the top and has gotten much worse during his presidency. Could pointing fingers at other people and fix it!!
While Perry didn't say it very well, he's absolutely correct that the Fed should NOT be printing any more money. We already have high inflation. Their primary goal was to keep inflation in check. Instead they have been printing money like crazy trying to save Obama from himself. Meanwhile WE pay for ever increasing food and fuel. It is a hidden Obama tax on everybody.
Isn't advocating secession treasonous?
Being from TX, we're all in a state of panic watching Perry self destruct this early in his campaign. Our hope is that he'd resign as governor before showing what an idiot he really is. At this pace, it looks like we're going to be stuck with him, along with the other hot air for a while.
once upon a horse observed:
wow Republicans calling other Republicans idiots...OMG what would Ronald Regan say about THIS???
-------------
Reagan would first throw Perry out of the party, and then call him an idiot.
Sounds like Bartlett can identify an "all hat and no cattle" swaggerin' idiot when he sees one!
Texas is doing much better now that he is travelling out of state.
Make it permanent, but not as president or any position that he could damage the country.
Unfortunately, the only label Perry refuses to live down to is "secessionist".
When all you do is level criticism against others you should expect to be treated the same, especially when you are as high profile as Perry. You're in the kitchen, expect the heat. If you don't like it, take the Sarah Palin path and cut & run.
Wow, when you can't get love from your own people, it is time to assess what you are getting yourself into. To be honest, he is an idiot. I am looking forward to his becoming the GOP candidate. Watching him get destroyed will be fun.
CNN stoops to a new low. Too bad most real Americans realize Bernanke is a traitor, so Perry's got my vote. CNN FAIL.
Maybe the Republican voters will wake up if their own start pointing out that only lowest denominator of their party are running. It is impossible for me to think that there are no decent, logical, capable Republicans out there that could run for President. Or...is it they are smart enough to not want the job?
There is a Flash Mob of Idiot Republicans touring the country right now that will lower the price of gas to $2.00, impeach the President, charge him with treason, put the President in jail for predicting the wrong weather. None of these idiots have a respectable answer or ACTION plan for helping the country move forward in a positive direction. IDIOTS !!!
business grows and grows and want to make more profit and more profit and do so with cheaper labor and product and abandon american labor force to make more profit and americans can no longer buy their stuff and there you go...greed and ignorance painting themselves into a corner. and the republicans grovel and worship this destructive self service process as being the american "dream"...it is a nightmare and we need to wake up.
Rick Perry is the Jefferson Davis of our time !
Look people, I actually HEARD this newscast this morning, and the reason he was called an IDIOT isn't actually because Perry is an idiot, it's because Bruce Bartlett is too dumb to think on his feet and articulate a good response to interview questions. Even when the interviewer asked Bartlett to "expound" upon the idiot remark, Bartlett stumbled and fumbled several times. Bartlett is the "idiot" as it were. Learn to articulate your point, man.
Jonsie,
"George Bush's fault, George Bush's fault, George Bush's fault – grow up kids, at some point the Dem's have to stop putting the blame on everyone but themselves". Seriously? The republicnas still blame Clinton for their ills. Josie, those who live in glass houses should not throw stones! You are right when you say blaming others solves nothingbut your party should practice what it preaches. "Do as we say, not as we do" doesn't cut it.
If you really want to blame our ecocomy problems on the real cuprit look no furthef than the newly appointed king of all rethugs by the teabaggers, reagan.
It started with ghe deregulation of big companies under his watch (phone, airlines, banks, etc). He also took away, for the little people of coursd) being able to claim interest from your credit cards on your tax forms. All tgat is left in ournhomes and they are trying to take that away also along with social security , medicare and medicaid. Why doesn't the lame stream media makes these clowns answer the har quextions and tell us what they are going to do to change it? I forgot, they walk of the stage or keep repeatin ad nauseum the "I am running for the presidency of the US"
last I checked the Obama administration said that the debt was a national security issue. So by their own standards anyone who makes the debt worse simply because of politics would fit the traitor definition.
Oh and blaming Bush for the debt is akin to blaming a guy who stole some acorns off a tree but staying quite when the next guy steals the whole damn tree.
Perry is the Male palin. Bachmann is a close second.
Rick Perry's an idiot, and I don't think anyone would disagree with that,"
-------------------------------------------------–
Truer words have not been spoken.
Rick Perry is NOT ready for primetime, nor 'public consumption', so to speak.
Regular Americans will chew him up, and spit him out, his viewpoints are that weak.
Obama 2012
I even think Perry is more of an idiot than George W. Bush. And that is saying a lot.
"Could (quit) pointing fingers at other people and fix it!!"
Ah, but it was such a BIG hole, Jonsie. And while Obama may have had the the Congress he wanted for two years, the GOPers had the filibuster power THEY wanted, and weren't any too shy about using that power. Nor have they been too eager to fix the damage THEY caused now that they control the purse strings again. Doubtful they know how ... or even what to do. Very good at disrupting and distracting, are the GOPers. Not so good at leading. Too much lobbyist payback, I suspect.
Bruce Bartlett is the consience of the republican party.
His idiocy started long time ago when he signed to kill the innocent man!
OUCH! But Bartlett hit the nail on the head....Perry just another mistake from Texas.
Bartlett is right on this one, and I can't imagine any intelligent person disagreeing with that.
"He [Obama] has had open seats on the fed almost his entire presidency and I think that this sends a signal that he just doesn't care very much about what the fed does," Bartlett said.
--
Bartlett knows full well that Obama has nominated several people to fill these positions, but the Republicans in Congress keep blocking or stalling the nomination process. The House of Representatives is now using tricks to prevent recess appointments as well. This is complete and utter nonsense. Get to work, Congress! Confirm the nominations or give us VALID reasons why you are stalling and/or blocking these appointments. If you don't like the nominee, Congress must work with the president to find an alternative acceptable to all.
No politician is going to sit on their azz waiting for the free market economy to *fix itself*.
It doesn't matter if they are a Democratic or Republican President. If you wait around and allow the free markets to fix it, you will surely lose.
So all this talk from the likes of Perry is just hot air. If the economy tanked, as President, Perry would spend his way out of it as well. That is DEMOCRACY.
Jonsie
George Bush's fault, George Bush's fault, George Bush's fault – grow up kids, at some point the Dem's have to stop putting the blame on everyone but themselves, Obams has the Congress he wanted for two years and still could not do anthing! Oh the myth of Obama having control of Congress for 2 years just keeps getting old...the short lived 60 vote majority in the Senate was a false super majority, given the penchant of a few Dem. Conservatives threatening to filibuster along with Republicans, etc...
AND...if REAGAN can blame all his woes on Carter throughout his first term and into the second term elections, then Obama can do the same to Bush, espec. since unlike Carter, Bush was at the helm of the sinking ship for 8 years!
As they say, takes one to know one, right? Of course, only an idiot would think that Parry is not an idiot, so d-mned if you do, d-mned if you don't. Everyone is an idiot.
that's because Perry IS AN IDIOT! he in my eyes, is a domestic terrorist. using his code words to stir up his base...and his base are nutty people, and it only takes a few of those types of choice words to get one of them to do something stupid!
Just what this nation needs to fix the economy that Bush broke...an IDIOT whose own intelligence is dwarfed by George Bush's. People, you've got to question your own sanity if you remotely consider this guy to start messing with an already fragile economy. If we can't do better, we might as well close up shop and hand over the keys to China.
WOW ! With grades ike that I would never have received my degree. My Major would not accept anything less than a "C". The man is an idiot and I didn't need his academic records to tell me that. All I had to do is listen to him speak and to express his ideas.
Obama cannot fill the federal reserve positions, same as treasury appointments and about 500 advisory committees because the republicans and tea bags have put holds on the nominations so they never get voted on by congress.
this kind of systematic attack is crippling govt, as it is designed to do.
it is unamerican, and shows their real allegiance not to this country or to the people.
Perry is no better or worse than the rest of them. He just says what all the rest are thinking. Instead of being a wolf in sheep's clothing he is just a wolf. Bachmann dresses all pretty and has the stepford wife smile all the while thinking how if she gets elected she is going to bring holy war on everyone who does not agree with her. Cain is living proof you can be a goof and still be successful in the United States. Santorum was drummed out in PA and now has a respectable chance of becoming the republican candidate. How did that happen? Romney couldn't drum up enough votes from moderates so he has to cozy up to the tea party and their crazies. We don't hear enough about Huntsman to really get a read on him.
Couldn't vote for anyone in the bunch. And this is an independent that was looking for an alternative to Obama. Go figure.
I agree with his "idiot" label, and am glad to see the posts here don't really challenge Bartlett's assessment of Rick Perry.
I only hope that there are enough intelligent moderates and independents that will do what they need to in the "red" states to make sure Perry doesn't get the nomination. It is also a good that another potential "G W Bush" disaster must go through the 2-step process instead of one–he's not the nominee yet. Keeping it that way would be the largest public censure of Perry and his evangelical, lunatic, dictatorship politics.
Bartlett is from the old GOP, back when they told the truth most of the time.
Since Republicans in Congress impeached Clinton, the GOP only puts out think tank-generated poll-tested propaganda designed to deceive people.
Rick Perry is proof-positive that ignorace should be painful
Maybe this is a sign that the mainstream GOP is waking up to the fact that the Tea Party led Perry, Cain, Palin and Bachmann political freak show will sink them in 2012.
Yes, he's an idiot....I know I live in Texas! Unfortunately, he's been elected governor for his third term which is absolutely ridiculous, even if the good ole'boy's club of Texas got him into office for a third term....it only goes to show that in politics ANYTHING can happen. So beware, there is a slight, scary chance he could make it to the oval office....I just hope and pray that doesn't happen!
A member of the GOP speaks out, nothing new there Except, he told the truth! Perry is indeed an idiot. His line of BS may play well in TX (not sure why), but it sure doesn't on the national stage. Perry is nothing more than a legend in his own mind. He'll soon find out that just because he hears all those voices in his head doesn't mean there's a crowd behind him.
Texas is just beginning to burn. How do you know Rick Perry has been to your house? All the lights are on, the refridgerator is empty, and the Cat is pregnant. Going to be alot of angry Texans looking Rick Perry's way come this next year.
Rick Perry told the truth about Bernanke. Refreshing to hear a politician tell the truth. Only trouble, once they get inside the beltway, all truth telling turns to lies. Very sad.
The word "treason" just rolls off these people's lips too easily. Idiot's the word.
Perry and idiot? Well, he did not fare well in academia. That only means that he is not well educated, which of course, we would like our presidents to be. Now some uneducated folks do quite well. It wasn't that many years ago that a good high school education was enough. But, Mr. Perry's education (or lack thereof) is not an issue with me. What is troubling is his evangelical religiosity, his naive approach to economics, his propensity for stretching the truth with respect to job creation, his crackpot ideas like seceding from the United States (which if in jest still shows a lack of maturity) and his bombastic 'my way or the highway' Tea Party mantra on raising revenues.
OK, I guess he is an idiot.
The truth shall set you free
Jonsie... Now HOW can you argue that a Treasury guy under REAGAN and HW Bush when he says that GW caused the problem – not to mention the OBVIOUS – that the recession was caused by elements that happened in the financial sector that we in place BEFORE Obama was even ELECTED????? – and the PREVIOUS DEM government – CLinton – left with a SURPLUS... These facts are BLINDINGLY obviuous – and no rational person is even trying to refute those facts...
If you want to argue about the recovery... well, there are all sorts of opinions and certainly for 2 years this government was in charge.... However – Economies don't turn on a dime – they never have – and it would be improper to blame any government – DEM or GOP – for not dragging us out of the recession yet – Even blaming GW Bush for not fixing it before he left office is dumb – (although most people forget it started while he was STILL in the WH) –
As for the Defecit... don't you remember the meetings between Nov. and Jan. after the election?? – Obama gave input (and agreed with the idea)... but it was again 'technically' GWs watch when the balout package was initiated...
Why do people forget this?? – Simply to hate?? or to be obtuse –
We need to STOP listening to politicians and media pundits and find the information ourselves – it is out there – but we are ALL constantly swayed by the propoganda machine – and we ALL fall for its lies at one time or the other....
To: Rick McDaniel
Herbert Hoover tried that way of doing things. Are you willing to be the first resident in a Perryville (the modern version of a Hooverville) and which public park will your tent or shanty be in so I can come and say "I told you so" You and obviously Governor Perry need to study history. Maybe a little less Bible thumping and a little more reading would do all of you some good. Herbert Hoover and the newly formed Fed did nothing to help the economy after the 1929 stock market crash. The left the "free market" to fix itself. Typical Republican response to the situation (yes Hoover was a Republican). Eventually, this policy created tent cities and shantytowns in the public parks called Hoovervilles because of the huge number of homeless, unemployed, people. They had no money to spend so the businesses began to fail because of lack of customers which meant even more people who were out of work. Then came FDR and fixed it. Now some economists think he prolonged the Depression and maybe he did but hwat he accomplished that no other President has accomplished for this country was a slow steady recovery. FDR did not allow the wall street tycoons that created the Great depression control the country's recovery from it.
Is it a jab if it's the truth?
@ Jonsie – this is coming from a Republican/conservative, not the Democrats. This guy served under George H.W. Bush and was an advisor to Ronald Reagan.
Rick Perry is definitely an idiot!
to LM:
Well that may be right, but keep in mind that the more people who move to TX from other areas, puts in jeopardy your status as the "biggest red state". When demographics shift, so does the voting.
Texas is drying up, is hot, and Perry does not believe in global warming. He asked Texans to pray for rain, and the drought got worse. Rick Perry's politics are not easing the suffering you Texans are facing because of lack of water, and a drought will pretty much dry up an economy–and may cause an exodus of people if it goes on too long.
Additionally, Perry is not well liked in his own state, and other major contributing factors have allowed Texas to flourish–not by the intelligent, thought out policies of your governor. Also, regardless of what kind of wages you offer your employees, the majority of Texans are not getting those types of jobs from most other employers, so singling yourself out, although it is commendable to see that you support your employees, there are so many other employers that don't, and it's not enough to make up the difference.
He is the worst kind of snake-oil salesman. Dishonest, fake, corny, stupid and totally without any talents.
Exactly the type who appeals to naive, religious, old, southern fools.
The GOP is so desperate they're letting all of the idots come out of the wood work starting with Sarah Palin etc. Perry is an Idiot, cowboy, 2010 rumors were he's George & Jeb Bush's cousin-strong resemblence too, for years people bragged what a great State Texas is "Don't Mess With Texas" blah blah blah. Thank you Rick Perry running for POTUS 2012, now the world knows what a greedy money hungry idot you really are; what a horrible govenor you are lying about creating jobs in 2008 when in fact the minumum wage jobs you created came directly from President Obama's Stimulus Bill.
To: Jonsie
Actually he did not have the Congress he wanted. If you understood how the Senate works then you would understand that if the House had bulldozed the Republicans then therepublicans would have filibustered the house and nothing would have gotten done. So they had no choice but to try to work with the party of resistance and destruction instead of simply doing what they wanted. Obama, unlike Franklin Roosevelt is not scary enough to threaten Congress with using Executive orders to do things. Congress refused to implement Roosevelt's plans fast enough for him so he started implementing them through executive order. Eventually Congress did pass laws to support most of his orders after the people, their constituents, began to praise Mr. Roosevelt for making their lives better and those congressmen realized that they would be put out long before the people would put out Mr. Roosevelt.
Remember, he is the president that the people of this country elected 4 times to that office. He must have been doing something right.
2009 jobs....either way you lied
Why does the GOP keep pressing the self-destruct button?
Who knew!!!! A republican that knows the truth and is not afraid to say it.
Oh hell, GOP'ers and TP'ers will just accuse the guy of being a RINO even if the guy is EXACTLY right in what he says.
Perry believes the Earth is less than 6 thousand years old. He considers the Bible to be the only textbook student really need. He asks for federal aid omn the same day he publishes an essay critical of States receiving federal aid. He is in fact an idiot. He is exactly what conservatives tend to support. Can you say "W"?
All of the posters crowing about a repub denouncing a repub , you may want to watch the latest interview with congresswoman Waters . I know that I really enjoyed it .
Well Jonsie....quit pointing fingers yourself! If it's blame you want look who started this mess. The Bush administration left the country in ruins. It took 2 more years to manifest itself. If someone throws a match out a car window and the forest catches on fire don't blame the fireman for not putting it out fast enough.
It's refreshing to know that SOME Republicans can see the Truth!!!
If the shoe fits! and btw, Jonsie, yes, we're still blaming bush, because, guess what? it's still his fault! just like the Holacaust is still Hitler's fault. time doesn't change history. and as for the congress Obama wanted for two years, were you off the planet while the repugs blocked just about every attempt he made to fix their mess? and they're still doing it, even worse now that they have control of the House.
I wonder if this will also be reported on Fox.
Anyone not ideologically blinded can see that Bush came in with a surplus and left America in the worst shape. Obama inherited this and still the blame seem to be on Obama. If Obama inherited a surplus or at least an even economy, we could blame Obama. He has been trying to fix the deep hole dug by GWB for his friends.
No doubts, only those who plant their heads in sand (for listening to Rush) will not see this clear picture.
Perry is NOT good for this country, neither was George W. Bush!
"If the shoe fits, wear it"
LM... I accept your challenge: Texas is the place to be if you want to earn minimum wage or worse. 9.5% of Texans earn that amount.. tied for the highest rate in any state on minimum wage.
Texas unemployment ranks 26th among states.
So a lot of people are still unemployed and a lot of the employed are at minimum wage.
Not the place I want to be.
READ MY LIPS: NO NEW TEXANS.
Bartlett has always been about self promotion and making money for himself by enticing liberals with exaggerated and asinine comments. Granted Perry misspoke and I am no fan but records count and Texas leads the country in job creation. I do not think Americans are interested in more economic and job losses in the name of social and political justice that our current President has implemented. Moan and scream all you want but people are not stupid enough to elect Obama again who has been and is the poison pill for any economic success.
Bruce Bartlett is totally correct in labeling career politician Rick Perry an idiot. This is something we've known in Texas since he was first elected Texas Agriculture Commissioner over 20 years ago. Perry has threatening to secede Texas from the Union and believes evolution is "just a theory" If you want to take America back to the dark ages, Perry is your man.
To: LM
Well I have seen numerous Texans across your state say that they wish they could afford to leave the state because Perry is a bad governor and he has destroyed Texas. Texas Rep. Garnet Coleman has even publicly stated the exact opposite of what you are saying. He said, "If you want a bad job, go to Texas. If you want to work at Carl's Jr., our doors are open, and if you want to go to a crumbling school in a failing school system, this is the place to come." Now when your state legilators are saying that about your state there is a problem. Maybe if you left you elitist office and actually drove into the slums of your cities and looked around or visited the welfare offices in your city you might get a reality check on what is going on in Texas. I have family in Houston and they agree with their representative that Texas is not a good place to be right now. They also happen to agree that Perry is an idiot.
"I challenge anyone to say Texas hasn't been the place to be during this recession"
ACS/xerox in dallas just placed all of ITO on 1 week furlough with out pay.
One week later 10 percent staff cuts in ITO
These measures were taken for US staff only. and have been on going for the last 6 years.
Actions speak louder than words. Rethoric and liberal theologies won't put money in your purse or get you jobs. Don't judge a book by it's cover but look at it's results. Objectively speaking biased opinions on Perry are toothless. Why are people all going to Texas if Perry was an idiot? Jobs ! Jobs! Jobs! Perry has set a conducive environment for people to get jobs. People don't care whether they are high paying or low paying jobs just give them jobs . If that is what an idiot does then being an idiot must be a good word. Bartlett has not created any jobs so he should just keep his mouth shut.
Well done Mr. Bartlett! He is an idiot, it'll just take time for others to see through the phony tx tough guy schtick. He's the male version of sarah palin.
If you haven't seen it yet, I highly recommend googling perry's video explaining the success of abstinence only education funding. TX ranks 3rd in the number of teenage pregnancy, yet rick perry thinks the money spent on abstince only is worth it – and that the results are good. We need higher standards – and we don't need rick perry.
Perry must have a "D" in science too. He believes evolution is just a theory. He believes creationism and evolution are equally valid, that the earth was created in six days 6000 years ago and dinosaurs and man lived together at the same time. Proof that that wasn't the case is that we are still here instead of having been a food source for dinosaurs. Oh yeah, we must have killed them all off like we did the mammoths. He must have thought the "Flintstones" was a documentary.
Further consider how we arrived at 200+ breeds of dogs from the common wolf, or all the breeds of domestic livestock or all the domesticated crops adapted for man's use, or how bacteria develop resistance to our antibiotics, or how bugs develop resistance to our pesticides.
Yep, evolution is a myth alright. We need more creationists. Let's do all we can to stamp out any remaining intelligence in this country before it really goes to the dogs. We can do alot for the deficit if we just have the churchs teach science instead of wasting all that money on science classes in schools and universities.
Finally a Republican that is willing to say out loud that the emperor has no clothes. I have not seen a Republican leader with any real appeal since Reagan. There is not a chance in heck I could ever bring myself to vote for Perry or any ticket with him on it. Romney is a sleazy liar but at least he has some intelligence.
Add Palin and Bachman to the list of idiots.
Objectivity

Then perhaps Perry should keep his mouth shut too because he's not responsible for job creation – the majority were government jobs. Perry is a placeholder on employment in TX – home to the oil industy and the military. We actually lost jobs, not gained them.
Rick Perry is a corporate evangelical right wing extremist tea party terrorist from texas. Bush on steroids, right wing nuts must love this man.
tempting . .but not necessary to resort to calling people names. I do think that Perry would not make good president for many reasons, but I also think he is right about it not being a good idea to print more money.
this isn't a monopoly game where we can all play pretend. . . . or maybe we can–but it's not a good idea.
Chris Matthews on MSNBC is right, President Obama should create a Jobs Bill for all of the GOP/Tea Party leaders who asked for money to create jobs in their district, put it out there for them to sign it, if they refuse to sign the jobs bill for money that they asked for to creat jobs in their district, not just the voters but the world will see who's not creating jobs...the GOP/Tea Party. Their mission to make President Obama a one term President/make him fail is going to back fire on their ***es!
Michael Steele is the only Republican I can stomach these days. He's the only one that argues for Republican tenets without misrepresenting the opposition.

@ Jonsie
George Bush's fault, George Bush's fault, George Bush's fault – grow up kids, at some point the Dem's have to stop putting the blame on everyone but themselves
__________________________________________________________
The man being quoted served in the Reagan administration and worked for Bush 41: care to explain how this is the Dems blaming Bush 43? He simply stated some hard facts that you can accept, and he did not get Obama off the hook either. Stop laying all the blame at Obama's feet, and start accepting the fact the GOP is responsible for this mess as well.
@LM:
No one disputes the population growth, but your experience cannot be used as an accurate gauge of how the TX economy is doing. Private sector job growth in 10 years is 9%, public sector is 19% and largely funded with stim money. Those Public sector jobs will disappear as soon as Perry's budget cuts kick in: who is going to want to move to a state with lousy schools and no services? You are servicing companies relocating: how much of your business comes from longtime TX residents? Sorry, but you sound like a soundbite, and you are the one who does not want to face the truth.
Rick Parry with an A, slowly? Self-destructing? I have to disagree with that. Before he even declared he was running he had openly discusseed cessetion from the US & held his Prayerapaloosa in Reliant Stadium in Houston. The guy's Texas A&M transcript clearly indicates he's a dim bulb. Then, he declares & within 3 days publically states the following: 1. Ben Bernacke would esssentially be tarred & feathered if he came to Texass; 2. He doesn't "believe" in global warming! & 3. He believes evolution is just a "theory" with holes in it & that's why he's proud they teach creationism in "his" state. Clearly, if he flaps his mouth so indiscreetly in the first week of his run, we can look forward to a fun Fall. I'm so happy someome of some import had the stones to state the simple truth: the guy IS an idiot. Now about Bachmann.....any takers???
Thanks Bruce for that, hmm, I wonder how the new GOP will try to spin this, since it comes from a member of the Reagan's administration. I will take sensible words over McDonalds jobs anyday.
Perry is no more of an idiot on economics than our current President. Lawyers are definitely not masters of the economy!
Team Perry includes: Ronald McDonald. Yogi Bear, Booboo Bear, Wiley E. Coyote and The Roadrunner
To: Charlie in Maine
You are absolutely right about how to go at them but maybe we have different reasons why. They are such idiots that if you go at them using historical facts about a different President that tried their approach and failed you can stump them because they don't know their history. Of course that means that the Democrats need to know their history and the reality is that the only one that seems to know that is Ben Bernanke over at the Fed and he is the very person Perry is attacking. I would love it if Ben would come out and challenge Perry but then the Dems would fall in line behind him and life would get interesting. This Independent would love to watch that whole scenario unfold. Perry scares me because I can see the next series of shanty towns and tent cities being called Perryvilles instead of Hoovervilles.
The Dems are obviously really scared of Perry. They are quaking in their shoes, that he will defeat them.
Well to be honest the man looks like an idiot if he not.
Bartlett is hardly an impartial "Republican" source. He has been off the GOP reservation for a long time. While calling Bernanke "treasonous" is an overstatement, countries that start "printing money" often do get in trouble and it is perfectly rational to criticize that practice, no matter what the outspoken Mr. Bartlett might think.
just look at practically ANY picture taken of Rick Perry and tell me if this guy's elevator goes all the way up to the top. He is not very bright but shrewd.
@LM....I live in Texas too and if I had a company that could come here, pay lower wages and benefits and make a good profit for myself despite what my workers may suffer I guess if I had that frame of mind I would do it also. But don't look to get employees from the area unless you don't mind having droputs or folks without highschool diplomas since our state is near the top in not graduating our kids. And GUESS where Gov Perry is going to start cutting next...education of course. And the "evil left wing media" is not lying about that.
@ LM, Lets hear some truth, Perry didn't create those jobs, as you said those jobs came from companies moving to TX., one of those reasons you gave was lower taxes....Perry didn't have to raise taxes in TX. because he took billions of dollars from the Obama stimulus package to pay down the states debt.....TX. lost around 50,000 private sector jobs, and added 115,000 federal, state, and local jobs....This is the same TX.GOV. who is going around saying the stimulus package failed, and we should reduce more of the federal gov., while the state is benifiting from those same policies...... if you want us hear the truth, you need to know the truth...
The religious right just love their idiots; all of them.....
palin, bachmann, perry, rush, hannity, beck, koch boyz, murdoch..... oops, murdoch and the koch boyz are behind it all but they are certainly not idiots
Rick Perry's GPA out of A&M was 1.9583. His last semester he received two B's....if one of them was a C he would not have passed. All that said, this doesn't make him an idiot, but it does show he isn't the sharpest knife in the drawer. And I personally think we need some pretty smart folks getting this country out of the mess it is in.
And btw, Perry does say some things that put him in the "idiot" category. Such as doubting the theory of evolution.
Perry thinks his "national" campaign is like his "Texas" campaign....he cant say the idiotic things he could in Texas on the national and international stage..can you imagine the embarrassment he would cause overseas? Bush put his big Texas foot in his mouth many times...I was there...and heard it...unbelievable. Perry might sell in Waco or Van Horn, Texas, but not in the real world...they would eat him up...his silly Texas bravado will wear thin. I am a lifelong GOPer and I would never vote for him. I would vote Obama before Perry...he is truly rude and crude and we deserve better. And Bachmann? Well her own words seal her fate...promising 2.00 gas and no teleprompter? She is a fool!!
A REPUBLICAN is calling this guy an idiot...interesting. That should ENSURE he is elected.
One moron calling other an idiot! now this is GOP!
Looks like GOP is seriously fractured! Team bush, Team perry, Team teaparty, Team Karl Rove and Bartlett!
A Moron Bartlett calls other an idiot! We all know what happned under GW bush! anyone working under him and contributed to this state of affairs is absolute moron!
Anyway congrats Obama! on more term! Thanks to seriously fractured GOP!

Truth be told, I cannot wait to see how Texas balances its' budgets now that Perry has decided to cut and run on the deficit disaster he's created in Texas.
One major reason why some states have higher taxes, lower taxes, or even no taxes, has to do with the cost of living in those areas and how much in way of federal dollars they receive.
Every state "pays" tax revenue to the feds through their residents filing federal income taxes. Some states pay out a lot more than what they get back.
And, some states experience high costs of living, which translates to high cost of doing business, because prices are set higher for goods and services. Don't blame the states for that because high prices can be chalked up to good old capitalism, which says charge the highest price the market can withstand. So, places like NY are expensive because you have so many folks making millions hand over foot each year. You might be awed by the McMansions around here.
If you hit him in the head -forget it; it was a wasted blow. You NEVER hit a Texan in the head! Never!
Super to see Perry get hammered for being a cheap, hypocritial flake.
What choices Republicans have! ROFLMAO!!!!!!!!!!!
Yes. thank you. Finally someone calling a spade, a spade. Perry has destroyed his once promising candidacy by idiotic comments in just a week!
Bartlett is one of the precious few conservatives left, it seems, who can use their brains to actually reason.
I see a pattern forming. All my comment about Rick Perry vanish while "awaiting moderation". What else may out there awaiting moderation I ask myself. Hoffa? The second gunman? Weapons of mass destruction perhaps?
I'd have to agree with Mr. Bartlett. "Idiot" sounds about right. Probably why Perry's handlers whisked him away soon after he made the comment.
I could not stop laughing.. here you have one of the most conservative, and highly intelligent men, who served under multiple Republican presidents, flat out call Perry an idiot.. I only wish they had split camera in the studio to catch the expressions on the on the set. I think the American public, other than the rabid right, religious zealots, who will argue that cavemen rode dinosaurs, finally .. I repeat finally, understand that we have to have intellect, education, and capability to govern. If the Tea Cuppers actually force him on to the ballot, I just hope that the electoral college and the independents can save us from the movie “Idiocracy” becoming a reality. Incidentally, the google search for the story about this morning “truth will out event” on CNN was found by typing in to the search box “Perry idiot”.
Mr. Bartlett, thank you. As a republican, I cannot support the fools in the GOP right now. You have the Palins, Perrys, Bachmans, Walkers...all fools that make the GOP look like idiots. It's nice to see there are still some sane republicans out there.
blackness in this guys eyes??? About the same as "The great White Shark, except a great white is very particular about its "Pray"!!!
-------------------------------------------------–
Wow! I noticed his eyes also derek, and I too was struck with how much they resemble those of a shark.
Nice play on words with 'prey' vs 'pray' and on point.
Perry is nothing if not a big, boisterous, bullying predator. And just like a shark he is rigid in his positions.
Obama 2012
An honest man Bartlett, bravo. You are independent and not beholden, how refreshing the truth can be
Interesting that Perry actually gave some reasoning behind his statement, but all Bartlett did was call Perry an idiot without justifying the namecalling, but at the same time, agreeing with Perry that there is politics being played at the Fed. Don't know what to think about someone that calls someone a name and then turns around and at least partially agrees with them.
The real problem here is that ALL of them are idiotic, spoiled, children! If you think they are truly interested in helping US, the American People, I wil eat my hat! I will continue to say that the ONLY way to correct these "elected childrens" agenda, that of putting as much money, from us, in their pockets as they can, is to VOTE everyone of them out of office and start with a clean slate! And keep voting them out until they get the message!

Wow. I guess the new GOP only believes in what Herr Goebbels, I mean, FOX tells them what to believe. You love the Dems who agree with you ( remember the lovefest for Joe Liebermann?), but if the shoe is on the other foot, you see the charges of disloyalty and questions of sanity begin to arise. Look at Perry's record with budgets and jobs( not to mention his mouth), and tell me with a straight face if you are really comfortable with him being the front man for your campaign in 2012. I would be petrified if I were a member of the GOP, but I'm in hog heaven as a Democrat.
Yeah, Perry's an idiot.... and?
Who didn't already know that?
This guy already burned down one executive mansion in Austin. Now he wants to burn down the White House. Please stay in the once great state that was Texass.

Nice try, though.
@Leo – Thank you!
Spoken like a true Obama puppet.
Obama is really running scared of Perry.
Hmmm, former Bush I officials agreeing with my assessment. Of course, the only reason right wing maroons like this Perry guy is his Dominionist Christianity and "Texshis" personality, which seems to comprise mostly of saying dumb things. Sorry, seen this show before.
@ Rick McDaniel......
yeah the Dems are scared to death of Perry but a Republican called him an IDIOT...and Karl Rove is calling him out. Just shows some people don't read before they hit SEND.
"Team Perry" did not immmediately return request for comment...." Well, it's hard to deny the obvious, so they are looking for a positive spin. How about this: Yes, Rick Perry is an idiot, but so are most people who vote for him...
Republicans eating their own. Love it!!!
Its Team Edward for me!
Leo <=== I really liked your post. I agree wholeheartedly!
Open seats on the Fed? It couldn't be because the Republican MINORITY in the Senate keeps putting blocks and holds on most of his nominees, just like his judicial appointments. That was why the Republican Controlled House refused to allow the Senate to go into Recess only into Adjournment, to prevent these from going in as recess appointments.
That being said, I am pleased to see an Intelligent Republican (yes, I know you exist despite what Fox and Roger Ailes try to present to the world) recognizes Perry for the uneducated fool that he is. Perry has no understanding of Macroeconomics, Foreign Policy, Constitutional Law, or anything else a real Presidential Candidate should understand. However, he is an Evangelical, Fundamentalist Christian, which makes him an ideal Tea Party backed Candidate.
I'm not for name calling and see it as "stupid" when used in political competition, yet in Perry's case it does seem well justified with all that he has been saying. It is actually hard and really meaningless to try to respond to someone in an intelligent manner when almost everything they say is ridiculous and without thought for other than getting attention ... so in this case, maybe calling Perry an "idiot" is rational and justified.
To: rapierpoint
Perhaps Bartlett expected too much of the American people. Perhaps he expected you to know your history and know that Andrew Mellon, Secretary of the treasury under President Hoover along with President Hoover had Perry's mentality or rather he has the same mentality that they did following the stock market crash of 1929 which drove the economy into the great depression. Go read the Wikipedia article on Andrew Mellon and you will see how he took this great nation from what it was under Theodore Roosevelt into the depths of the Great Depression as the secretary of the treasury under Warren G. Harding and Herbert Hoover. Ben Bernanke seems to be the only person in this country that understands that concept but he has studied the causes of the Great Depression as part of his graduate studies. Dr. Bernanke is actually a great deal more qualified than Rick Perry or even Barack Obama to decide how to deal with our financial crisis in this country. Unfortunately his powers are limited by the very people that are pretty clueless about how to fix the problem and they are not listening to him. Those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it.
Well, it's not like this is the first time Perry has heard that adjective directed his way... He's probably heard that every day of his 61 years of life on this planet.
Perhaps he should have tossed in global warming and what Jesus really said along with his criticism regarding the Fed Head. It's doesn't take more than an elementary school student to understand that if ice is disappearing, the planet is warming up and, it even takes less education that that to understand that nobody is lying abut Jesus worse than the Republicans, except of course the lying ass tv evangelists, who like to pretend he was some sort of supply side capitalist and otherwise, justify to the mega millions flowing into their stain-glass coffers.
If an idiot is running Texas for over 10 years then why isn't the state collapsing like California. I am an independent and reading the bias approach in these blogs is unbelievable. People have differences in their governing styles and beliefs. That is what makes America great. If someone is Christian and isn't liberal it does not mean they are idiots. If someone doesn't get good grades at school it does not mean their idiots. The richest men in the world like Bill Gates, Michael Dell and Richard Branson dropped out of school. There is a thin line between name calling. Perry may not be be perfect but he has tried to do a good job in Texas. Give him credit.
Atleast someone is speaking the truth from Fed side! Yes, we all know how idiot is Perry, Palin, Bachmann. Huckabee. A ddeck of cards have 2 jokers, GOP has four!

If he is running scared it is only because he realizes that the school systems in this country have deteriorated to the point that a huge portion of the American people are uneducated enough to vote for this moron just like they voted for Dubya!
Yes, what we in TX have known for a long time. Perry is an IDIOT!
Only one way to get out of recession stimulate the economy freeze wages and basic good and work our way out it over time. We would not have a treasure department if not appoint a man who uses his mind eyes to see far into monetary situation of the country. Bless.
WOW... A Republican calls a TeaPublican "An IDIOT". Republicans can't hit back at Democrats on this one because it came right out of their own backfield. Since he is not the only one tagging this Perry dude from the backfield, I would think there must be some truth in what they say. We'll all know soon enough. Some reporter covering Perry will ask him to comment on the accusations sooner or later and if he dodges giving a direct answer that he is or is not an IDIOT then we can assume he did not want to admit to it.
A former high-ranking Republican official in the Reagan and Bush I administrations has called Governor Perry an idiot? As a registered Independent voter who votes primarily along Democratic lines, my faith in the traditional Republican Party has been restored. If we could see similar action from sitting establishment Republicans in Congress, I would believe that there is still hope for America!
To: Jonsie
RE:typos in my previous response
This is the corrected version of what I was trying to type at the beginning. Had a kid in my lap needing attention and I lost my train of thought for a few minutes.
Actually he did not have the Congress he wanted. If you understood how the Senate works then you would understand that if the House had bulldozed the Republicans then the republicans would have filibustered the Senate and nothing would have gotten done. So they had no choice but to try to work with the party of resistance and destruction instead of simply doing what they wanted.
I must admit, however that I do not think Perry is an IDIOT. Most IDIOTS I know are much smarter than this guy comes of as being. For him to be an IDIOT, he would have to be as smart of an IDIOT as Sarah Palin and I don't think he has reached he level yet.
Ben Bernarnke does not know what he is doing and is causing this recession to linger. Regardless of how Perry said it...there is no question that Ben Berarnke NEEDS TO GO!!
To Ray E. Georgia: Are you blaming President Clinton for printing money with nothing to back it up? If you had bothered to do any research you would know that it was President Nixon that took the U.S. off the gold standard(i.e. our money was actually backed by gold reserves). Once we were off the gold standard the value of our currency was determined solely by faith in our government, which the GOP and the tea party destroyed by holding our economy hostage till the last minute and not backing any sort of tax hike(i.e. increase in revenue which S&P specifically called for in its press release defending the downgrade of U.S. debt)
It's like this people, if you are behind on your bills, what do you do? You stop spending so much money on things you don't need, but you also pick up extra hours at work or get a second job! It's not that hard people...
Clearly, the man is and idiot but what is even more troubling is his and Bachmann's connection to a religious movement called Dominionism. Check it out...very scary! Perry spends a lot of time talking about the "jobs" he created in Texas during his reign but Texas under his "leadership" has gone from 4% unemployment when he took office to over 8% now. Texas is one of the lowest states in spending for education and investing in education. Over one quarter of the population has no health insurance. A large portion of the "jobs" that were created in Texas were created by the Stimulus monies that he took and now he spends a great amount of time railing against the stimulus. Ah, Republican/Tea Party...they just don't know where the truth begins and the lies end do they!
I think the Democrats are scared that Perry has what it takes to take on Obama...I am independent. I feel we would be better off with Hillary Clinton than Obama(that was the Democrats mistake). Hillary had far more experience than Obama did. Look...Obama has been talking about what he is going to do about jobs since 2009. Yet unemployment remains at 9.2%. He is ineffective as a President. People just need to wake up and smell the coffee!! Obama is the real idiot!
You cannot hate Obama so much that you lets the good things that might this country great go down. Let Perry, Bachman and other remember that!!!
Apparently someone stocked the pond with GOP gusto this election cycle and it wasn't necessarily the best or the brightest either. Damn these people are scary....
To Objectivity:
And how was these jobs created, through Obama's stimulous package, not through any private sector....Go figure!!!!!
This is not news to a Texan! Listen to the man for 10 minutes and you can see where he is coming from. He was just lucky he made it as far as he has and that being because the is so conservative and Texas back woods people love that! Man does he have them fooled!
"He [Obama] has had open seats on the fed almost his entire presidency and I think that this sends a signal that he just doesn't care very much about what the fed does," Bartlett said.
You have got to be kidding me. The REASON there are so many vacancies is because of Republicans blocking confirmation of people like Peter Diamond. Mr. Diamond won a Nobel prize for his work on unemployment but was deemed unacceptable by the GOP. Yeah, I guess having an expert on unemployment on the Federal Reserve right now would be a bad idea. How pathetic can you get?
What I don't understand about the Secessionist governor is how can you tax a state with a tax surplus to have debt of around $27B with an oil based economy and have to borrow millions from the federal government then criticize that same government for over spending......I have to agree with Mr. Bartlett.
Vote NO on Incumbents. Rick Perry is one but (hopefully) not for long.
Another town in Texas has lost its idiot. Maybe the fence needs to be placed around Texas not the Mexican border.....
Does Slick Rick have a brain? It's a theory that's out there, but no one can prove it!
The shocking thing here is how little people know about the Fed, why it exists, why is MUST remain independent. Elected officials like Congress and the President decide fiscal policy (taxes and spending). But the Fed handles monetary policy (how much money is in circulation). That is what decides the level of inflation and the lower end of interest rates that financial institutions charge for loans. The Fed is a bank's bank. Would anyone really want the likes of an ignorant politician deciding monetary policy? God help us! Gov Perry doesn't know the least thing about it. For him to threaten the Fed Chairman displays his abject ignorance. Also the crime of Treason was much abused by dictators and monarchs. So in our country we reserve that to aiding and abetting the enemies of the United States. Gov Perry should be ashamed of himself for trying to politicize that grave crime.
There's already a "Rick Perry Is An Idiot" page. Wonder if Bruce Bartlett started it.
Obviously! I saw video of him yesterday in NH talkin to an 8 year old boy about science. He told this kid when talking about evolution or creationism that he was smart enough to figure it out for himself. UM HELLO that's why kids go to school to LEARN THE FACTS! An 8 year old isn't smart enough to know! Perry is an idiot.
No truer words have been spoken. Now, start digging deeper into Perry's campaign & see the ties to big corporations that are using Perry for their puppet. He's been a puppet for a long, long time. The push is on in Texas to bribe people to vote Republican. Wonder how widespread this disease is?
Bartlett is truly irrelevant. It is clear that he is seeking attention, and the easiest way to get that is to bash your fellow Reps, because the liberal MSM will sniff this out and make it headline news. There are PLENTY of Dems who think that Obama is a disgrace and leading us to disaster. BUT you will NEVER hear about them in the MSM. In other words, HO HUM...
We are in this mess because of Bush and Perry makes Bush look like a genious.
To paraphrase Bubba Gump's momma, "Idiot is as idiot does."
Actually, there is a long string of adjectives that should preface the term "idiot" when it is applied to Perry, but if I posted those adjectives, my comment would be blocked. Unfortunately, the need for polite speech sometimes prevents honest speech in the public realm.
Perry is distinctly UNQUALIFIED to be President of CITY DUMP let along President of the United States. I thought He seceded already!
Having a "brilliant" Harvard elitist and his academic cronies run our country hasn't worked out real well – give me a Texas A.M. idiot who served in the military.
Bruce who? His former government positions aside, he reminds me of many of today's leftist pundits. He calls Rick Perry an idiot, and then doubts anyone would argue with it. Of course they wouldn't once it has been spoken as fact by the Great "Bruce". Not only that, but spoken by the Great Bruce on CNN. Kind of like global warming... I mean climate change. "All debate is over." If you disagree with Governor Perry, so be it. Show your perceived brilliance and explain why he's wrong. Rational people will listen.
All hat and no cattle!
Geitner seems to fall into the category more than Perry does. Two reasons , 1. he's fumbled the job and 2. He doesn't know when to quit.
We ALL think Perry is an idiot!!!
Thank God the Senate Repubs are putting holds on BHO Fed nominations. Just what we need – more Federal Reserve people with this Administrations economic priorities. These Senators should be given medals.
Just what is this Republican affection for idiots? Is it really necessary? Are there no prominent Republicans, educated and capable, willing to seek office?
Mona2010 That is where you go wrong. If the stimulus worked in Texas then Perry must have had conducive policies for it to work unlike other states. Private sector work and stimulus will work in places like Texas because of their policies. As long as policies are wrong in other states the stimulus won't work .Go figure that too!!!
Perrys' best chance for the Republican nomination was before he opened his mouth. The more he speaks the more he distances himself from ever gaining the White House. For that matter why would Texas even want him back?
@ Jonesie:
Babe, I noticed that no one thanked you for playing, so.....Thanks for playing!!
Obama 2012
I'd rather be governed by the first few hundred people in the phone book than by any incumbents or aspiring candidates.
While Rick Perry calling Bernanke "treasonous" is insulting and obvioulsy not true, Mr. Bartlett's use of the word "idiot" is equally insulting and equally untrue. Anybody who has gotten elected as often as Rick Perry in rough and tumble Texas politics is clearly no idiot. On the one hand, it is hard to understand why anyone would care what some has-been minor official in some past administration has to say. On the other hand, Rick Perry should remember he is not in Texas anymore. He would do well to cool his rhetoric when he addresses his new national audience.
Only in America that an "idiot" can run for president. And only in Texas that an idiot can be a governor. Mr. Barlett are you sure he is an idiot?
Calling Perry an idiot is pretty mild. I'd call him something much, much worse. He can't tell the truth; doesn't believe in science; calls for secession, but thinks the Fed. Chair is the treasonous one. This guy is GWB all over again. He wasn't an idiot he was a moron. If the GOP/TP thinks so little of us that this guy is presented as a viable candidate (along with crazy Bachmann, and the rest of the uber right rabble), then they don't deserve winning elections to higher offices... dog catcher parhaps.
Rick Perry Is a Idiot. And so Is most of the people the Tea Party Back. Just look at there track record. You have O'Donnell ,Angle , Palin ,Bachmann, Perry ,Cain and the List go on.
Don't just LOVE how the lbtards trying to paint all of their political opponents as "idiots" while all of their "progressives" are Einstein level geniuses?!!
Yet here we sit, mired in record unemployment, for record time, with record foreclosure, record debt, record deficits, sky rocketing food and fuel prices, while the man they proclaim is a genius runs this country into the financial abyss by trying to spend and borrow our way to properity. All while the markets crash, his signature healthcare "reform" is judged unconstitutional and he takes a nice long vacation in between campaign fund raisers. Golfing while Rome burns...
I'll take my chances with the "idiot" thank you!!!!!!!!!
Why isn't this man running for President? Why are we stuck with the religulous and unintellectual?
This is what needs to be done. Enough of calling the Tea Party and every conservative politician terrorists or hostage takers. Call them what they really are, plainly and simply: IDIOTS.
According to CNN, The Republican Party has steadily become the party of idiots.
Strange man that Perry. While on the one hand shaking his fist at federal stimulus, with the other pleading for, AND accepting, Fed funds WHICH rendered Texas ahead of the game. THEN bragging about his personal "job" accomplishments. He's following the example of his hero Ronald Reagan who was "in uniform" the whole of WW2.
Both bogus braggards. Both men are clueless as to the existence of historical paper trails.
Hey. What about the porn allegations?
I think Bartlett just proved HIMSELF an idiot.
@spydyee: to further your point, that's exactly what the christofascist right has long sought to do... diminish education so there is a perpetual uneducated segment of the population that they can manipulate... Bush and Perry are prime examples! Just look at education in Texas! nuff said!
I don't know much about Perry, but I do know that what he said is not far off. I think most of the people calling him an idiot don't even know what the federal reserve does or how monetary policy works. He is right about the bug mistake printing more money would be for our economy. He words were poor, but he is right. Some people need to learn some common sense before they start bashing people for the correct idea
Perry's language language may have been too harsh regarding Bernanake, but the substance of his remarks were completly accurate. Printing more money and further devaluing the dollar is wrong headed and dangerous.
Mean time the newest Gallup poll shows only 26 approve of how Obama is handeling the economy and only 24 percent on how he is handling the deficits. Given those poll numbers, you could conclude a majority of Americans think Obama is an idiot when it comes to the economy and fisical policy.
Obama is going to be releasing his new jobs and deficit redution plans soon. He is calling for Repubicans to put country ahead of party and support his plans. Given Obama's track record, a majority of Americans are not going to support his new plans especially if they are more of the same policies he has already supported. If the jobs plan is no more than just stimulus two it will be rejected by a majority of Americans who remain opposed to the first stimulus that did not work as advertised. Republicans would only be idiots if they supported Obama plans that will not work and were not supported by a majority of Americans. Ultimatly the deficit reduction will be up to the super committee and Obama will have to compromise on his job plan with Republican ideas if a new jobs bill is going to be passed.
United States of America....what a joke...never was a people so devided...
United you stand devided you fall....and its falling...!
Since everything in texas is always compared to size. Perry is actually the BIGGEST idiot!
I am interested to hear specific details of the assertion that the Fed is extending the recession. For instance, did the Fed not make enough money available to get the engines of industry geared up to increased demand? Has inflation reached new heights?
Nope.
The only thing I am aware of is that the standard treatments for recession have been effectively blocked by Congress, presumably to keep unemployment high and wages low for the benfit of their corporate benefactors.
Is that treacherous or treasonous. Maybe it is just idiocy.
Fool me once shame on you. Fool me twice...uuh. Fool me butcha caint get fooled again! Can we?
The real irony. Between Perry and Bush, W was the "smart one"!
Cant argue against truth.
Heck, not that it will make a difference to Republicans if their leaders are idiots or not, as long as God talks to them, they walk with a Texas swagger (AKA gimp-limp), talk tough, and send other people's kids to die in unnecessary wars...that is good enough for the good ole' Republicans...
Did anyone else see the apology from some Texans for unleashing Rick Perry on the rest of the US?
Have we received one from Alaskans yet? lol!
Bothe Perry and Bachman are destroying their chances with this open mouth disease.
Spend, Spend and Spend more. When that runs out Print, Print and Print more money. When we run out of trees from printing money raise the debt ceiling and start the spending cycle again. Hey it worked great for Greece and what Greece does we can do better. That's the smart way of economics. You have to be an idiot to be responsible.
An insult to sentient idiots everywhere who do not wish the likes of Rick Perry among them.
So Perry is an "idiot" but this clown who calls him that in the same breath says "the politics at the Federal Reserve are a serious problem".
So, Perry is basically right but he is an idiot. I think the idiot, the blowhard, the attention-getter is the guy who slams the Fed but slams Perry for slamming the Fed.
And to all of you who eagerly bash Perry at the expense of this country, great job. Way to prop up the man-child we have as our current President who is making the Jimmie Carter presidency not so bad. This country, its values, its principles, its exceptionalism (most of you don't even know what is truly meant by American Exceptionalism), are all being thrown out the window in favor of a dumbing down of "the masses". In your America, whether you are smart or not, whether you work hard or are lazy, whether you take risks or sit on the sidelines, you will be provided with the same amount and type of food, shelter, healthcare, automobiles, etc. This dumbing down of "the masses" in a European Socialist way (i know, I've lived in Europe for years) is precisely what inhibits growth, innovation, development, creativity and wealth. Wealth on which taxes are applied. You are shrinking the tax "pie" and increasing the number of dependents on the taxes applied to the pie.
Great job my fellow Americans, great job. Keep bashing anyone that wants to return America to its core principles and go ahead and keep bankrupting this country with your failed policies, and failed leaders. Bravo – IDIOTS!!!
Paltel Slubinski
I saw that one coming, yet I feel sorry for him.
"He [Obama] has had open seats on the fed almost his entire presidency and I think that this sends a signal that he just doesn't care very much about what the fed does," Bartlett said.
Is Bartlett aware that's because Obama's nominations are continually and continuously blocked by the GOP? Peter Diamond, a Nobel Award winner with expertise in labor and unemployment, finally withdrew his name after 14+ months of Republican opposition stalling his appointment.
I agree with the "idiot" description of Perry. I'm certainly not voting for someone who doesn't know the difference between science and religious beliefs (i.e., so called "intelligent design" which is just another word for creationsim!). He's just another politician trying to get elected. Personally, I don't know why any sane, intelligent person would WANT to be president today!
Momma said " Stupid is as stupid does, just like Gov. Perry."
Perry desires for America to get its fiscal house in order, he exposes the Fed's corrupt actions, and he gets called an idiot for it.
First off, that's real constructive, Bruce. Secondly, Rick Perry is only trying to help save the country.
Perry is following the lead of the other Repub. candidates.......not knowing when to keep his foot out of his mouth. It is really amazing, but the Republican candidates have a way of talking themselves into a corner., very often with exaggerations, mostly with outright lies. They must think that we voters out here are really stupid. They don't seem to know that we READ, LISTEN and THINK!!! Our eyes are wide open and we aren't missing a thing!!!!!
@ no Objectivity ~ No matter how much fox spin you spew, facts can't be denied (or science & history) Obama's stimulus worked by the simple fact we are not in the Bush/GOP Great Depression, but are recovering from the Bush/GOP Great Recession.
Well damn I guess then next thing im going to see is a Hockey Team from Hell, cuz its all frozen now..
Mr. Bartlett...that's nothing new....
This article is an insult to idiots around the world. Idiots my be stupid, but they are not anywhere as corrupt as this cookie cutter GOP sound bite of a politician. I say it again. Sell Minnesota to Canada, sell Texas to Mexico, and let America become America once again. If Canada and Mexico refuse to make an offer, threaten to kill NAFTA.
mike – Too bad most real Americans realize Bernanke is a traitor, so Perry's got my vote.
-----
Yeah, you and the other 18% of the population that makes up the Tea Party gang. Good luck trying to convince anyone with half a brain with your Fox News talking points.
Bartlett you had me at Rick Perry is an idiot. I have to agree given what I've read about him so far.
However you lost me with: "He [Obama] has had open seats on the fed almost his entire presidency and I think that this sends a signal that he just doesn't care very much about what the fed does," Bartlett said.
Mr. Bartlet would those open seat perhaphs be for nominees before the House of No, which has done their level best to hold up appointment hearing while blaming the President for government ineffeciences.
Bruce Bartlett is a former advisor to Reagan in the sense that Ann Coulter is a former MSNBC employee. This guy's livelihood is based entirely upon ripping the ripping the free market, then hiding behind the caveat "...and I worked for Reagan!" Read his NYT columns. He's left of Krugman. Oh, and he doesn't even have a degree in economics.
Sadly for the country, this whole bunch of people are quite sad. The state of Texas may think he is the right man for the job down there, but most of America has moved way beyond the days of the wild west. We don't need a leader that walks or talks like John Wayne. And his empty threat directed toward Ben Bernake was laughable if it weren't so serious. He's perfect for the tea party, but not for those of us that truely want to move forward from where we find ourselves. What people forget is that it took years of poor leadership and incompetency to get us into thiss mess, and it will take a few more to get us out of it. But to think of handing the reins over to this buffoon would be a bigger joke than George W. Bush was.
Very well stated Leo!
There are PLENTY of Dems who think that Obama is a disgrace and leading us to disaster.
---
Just like all those PUMAs that were going to tank the 2008 election because of what happened with Hillary, right? Keep at it with those Fox News talking points.. you are only fooling yourself.
LMBAO................................it true, but what is too funni you actually have people thinking this "idiot" is another "leader of the white world"................LOL.......LOL............LOL. STUPID is another word that could used here.
"Rick Perry's an idiot, and I don't think anyone would disagree with that,"
I'd venture to say that there are probably plenty of people who would disagree with that.
Now who is the idiot Mr. Bartlett?
If Perry is an idiot then what do u call the moron in the WH who thinks we should just keep spending to fix the economy as the country is bankrupt? How about dumb as a box of rocks? Or Insane!!!
Please CNN, send people to look into the scandals associated with Perry!!
Yes, Perry is an idiot. As are most of the reality-TV style politicians the Republicans have pushed into the spotlight over the past few years. What happened to the Conservatives of the past – stodgy, serious, number-crunching penny pinchers who may not have reflected the social consciousness of our country, but certainly held the side of reason??? Today, we are presented with weird, uneducated bozos as the Republican choice. It's really disheartening.
I used to like the balance we had between those who want to take care of everyone and coddle society (Dems) and those who argued (reasonably) that capitalist business focus would create a better way of life for everyone (Republicans). Today, there is no such balance. Dems still want to take care of every little underdog and the new Republicans are just a bunch of bizarre goofs without any solid facts to create real debate against the other viewpoint. Instead, they use bully tactics to render impotent an administration they disagree with.
Never before have we seen a minority group in congress use so many fillibusters to block MOST of the presidents' nominations to key posts, to block MOST attempts at legislation, to block ANY progress at all.
Why doesn't Obama have the Fed positions filled? ASK THE FOOLS WHO HAVE FILLIBUSTERED MOST OF HIS NOMINEES TO THOSE POSITIONS!!!
Perry is just one more of this looney group.
An idiot Perry is but wait, that's not all he is, the best is yet to come and Perry will dropout.
We already had an "idiot" ex-governor of Texas as President and look where it got us. That's quite enough.
It's nice to see a Republican exposing other Republicans. Perry is an idiot. So is Palin, Bachmann, Paul, Cain and Gingrich. But they all now how to collect free money, fly first class, eat well, and spend the money other idiots send to them.
The next thing Perry will say will be something about smoking them out!!!
Perry turns my stomach inside out. If you want to remove your state from america and now your want to lead america, what does that say about your intelligence, sincerity, humanity? You are a moron who does not deserve to lead our nation. I'd vote for romney, even ron paul. But not for perry.
Both Perry and Bachmann are going to self-immolate shortly. You can't make the crazy statements that these two do and expect to win a national election. Their religious zealotry also scares alot of people...me for one!
He is indeed and idoit. Ask the President of Texas how much was the surplus we had in 2009 and the deficit of 2011?
From what I have seen of the current administration and Bernanke they are the ones that are idots.... they have not done a thing. There focus is way off... and Bartlett has no business talking about Perry..... there are simple rules...you don't spend more than you take in and bottom line.... neither Republican or Dems are worth anything.... they have all voted themselves pay increases when we are in a bad economy...while the rest of us are out of work... I have been for 18 months... and others want Perry or others to talk respectful about the administration.... give me a break.... time to grow up... this country needs some tough talk and action. right now none of the parties are capable to do anything.
So some one else thinks that Perry is trying to emulate Elmer Gantry. One of the big newspapers wrote an editorial stating this. the only difference is Perry is worst of a scam artist than the original.
Perry is not an idiot, he's a corporate stooge and will pass any and all legislation for money in my opinion.
Perry is an idiot and worse. He's evil. The man really believes everything he says. Heaven help the people of this country if this moron becomes President of the United States. My God he would be worse than George W. Bush.
Bless you, Bruce Bartlett. Rick Perry IS an idiot. He proves it every time he opens his mouth. Republicans – stop with the crazy already! If you were serious about anything other than "winning" this ridiculous sissyfight in the media, you'd be supporting Huntsman. Or even Paul. Or even an orange traffic cone – anyone but the clowns you're supporting now.
He is an idiot. This isn't anything new.
Perry may be an idiot, but more importantly, he is easily swayed by the power of money.
Everyone with a daughter ought to take the time to learn about the deal he made with Merck (giant pharmaceutical company) in Texas. He exchanged Texas's daughters for cash – pure and simple.
He agreed to sign up every young girl in the state for a new Sexually Transmitted Disease (STD) vaccination sold exclusively by Merck (Gardisil) in exchange for a very hefty sum paid to the state.
And, so now, every young girl in the state is required to be injected with this vaccination – a wildly unprecedented move by a governor to take the health care decisions about teen girls away from their parents and put into the hands of an uneducated governor in cahoots with greedy Big Pharma. He was duped into this agreement because he really is an idiot. Truly scary.
This is the kind of "freedom from government" Perry wants to bring to the entire US. How about instead of focusing on protecting us from big government, Gov Perry works a little more on protecting Texans from the motives of Big Corporations???
Close your eyes and listen to Parry talk. The word choices, the thought process, the pronunciation all sound EXACTLY like Bush. So i guess if you want George Bush back for a third term then vote Parry.
i disagree. perry isn't just an idiot, he's a blithering idiot.
Perry an idiot!! Well, that's the least that can be said for this creature. He's not only an idiot, but ebven worse, he's a racist BIGOT. In any other era of American history since 1787, this type of political scum would be ignored as a joke, but with the anti-black backlash of the hate-mongering, racist, "Tea Party" crypto-fascists, "things" like Perry can come along and even get some attension - so long as the ratings-craved media is willing to grovel in the dark corners of trash-heap demented politics!!
Rick Perry responds to "Idiot" remark: "I are not a idiot!"
obama should have another chance..why give bush pt 2 another 4 yrs???
wow....If it weren't for lies the GOP candidates would have nothing to run on. I have to say, in order to support republicans, you have to be really stupid....facts be damned
This guy is major trouble for this country. George was a sweetheart compared this guy. Ignorant, self righteous, self important, about money and removing all rights from people to support corporations doing whatever they want, world killing by killing the EPA goofball!! People need to get smarter if they think this guy has any intention to server the people. He tells people what they want to hear but will do nothing to back it up. But that the GOP say one thing to get support then do what they want that is the opposite of what they said. If you dont know this by now, please leave...
"Anybody who has gotten elected as often as Rick Perry in rough and tumble Texas politics is clearly no idiot"...
clearly..... lol.
On this ship, you're to refer to me as 'idiot', not 'you captain'. I mean, you know what I mean.
The last thing we need is a financial idiot at the helm that holds prayer vigils to solve this country's problems.
Mr. Perry is outspoken, true. Something the beltway crowd isn't used to. A man of confidence. Perhaps Perry was a "C" student at A&M. So tell me again, what was Pres. Obama's GPA in school? Oh that is right, his scool records have never been released. Even if Obama made straight As, it is RESULTS that count and it is obvious we elected a man who speaks well, but wasn't properly vetted, and based on his dirth of real experience before taking office (other than voting present a few hundred times & voting NO to increase the debt ceiling,) Our current Pres. probably wasn't qualified to be president.. Most of you know that, even if you vote for him again knowing what his tenure has been like. Even if we was qualified he has been an abject failure -think Jimmy Carter. No wonder so many of you are filled with anger and FEAR over Gov. Perry's entry into the field. A good familly man who presides over one of the largest and most economicallty booming states in America. Obviously that was all luck! No doubt your retort will be the same tired old excuses for why our sitting President has a 16% job approval rating and we have 14 million out of work three years later. I keep waiting to her Obama say "the dog ate his homework," along with the Tsunami, the Arab spring, the lunar phase, etc. as reasons why we are STILL in a recession. So go for it – call Perry dumb. If I get a choice between "smart" Obama hope and change, and "dumb" like a fox Gov. Perry. I guess I will vote for the dumb successful person over the smart failure. I suspect a whole lot of people will do the same thing. This is what really scares you: Obama will be a one term president.
Given the Republican field calling Perry an idiot could be considered legitimizing him as a candidate.
George Bush And Rick Perry are Brothers they both hate all races except white people and woman and they both are treasonous to all american people and Perry an idiot
Rick Perry is an idiot. The only reason he's even being considered is because he pays a lot of lip service to religion, and the Republican Party has turned into a radicalized theocratic party at this point. I live in Mississippi and I know a lot of Republicans, and few of them actually understand the issues - they vote entirely based on religion. That's why we got stuck with Bush.
It's dangerous. If this country goes down, it's going to be due to evangelical ignorance.
Rick Perry calling Bernanke "treasonous" not just insulting, he is accusing Bernak of a criminal act and thereby deliberately undermining the integrity of the Unites States of America, which is clearly an act of sedition.
Also, lies are not covered by the 1st Amendment and slander of this magnitude by Perry is properly remedied by Perry being sued.
The work “idiot” is being tossed around a lot lately because it is a favorite word by Boss Rush to dismiss liberals. So in GOPese, “idiot” is a really bad thing.
HeII, calling this insect an idiot is insulting to idiots
I heard the idiots have complained about Perry being included in their ranks... they've suggested he be referred to as a moron. However, after numerous morons complained, we're now just going to refer to Rick Perry as just plain stupid.
I'm looking harder and harder at Ron Paul. Unfortunately he doesn't have the pretty looks to get the nomination. Switching from Republican to Independent a couple of years ago made me feel good, but I don't know what it got me, then, now, or in the future. Can't win for losing.
I hate to tell everyone this buttttt, unemployment was higher under Reagan. You have to think Global. I voting for Obama
Perry is an dumb idiot, I know I live in Texas.
amazes me how the middle class and poor vote in Republicans, when Republicans only help the top 5%. Americans want to think they are rich so they go with the Republican party and it only hurts them. It is so stupid. Ronald Reagan was the one who really did a lot of damage to the middle class and poor
it was BushJR and his rethugs. who tripled the debt. They tried hard to destoy America by spending with tax cuts for the wealthy, of which I am sure you are not, and they spent on two wars OFF THE BOOKS, and a prescription drug plan that was not paid for. When are you ignorant repugs. going to realize that the people in this country are waking the MESS up and this crap won't go on much longer. May the rethuglican party sleep with the fishes!!
There's no exaggeration when the Republicans want to take away "entitlements" that we have been paying for all our working life's. What they are exaggerating is that the rich are not going to create jobs (they haven't in the last 10 years with their tax cuts so why know when they want the President to fail and be a one term President); they are not going to have to declare bankruptcy, or lose their homes, or their cars or not be able to put on the table for their little darlings and they will still be able to invite all their rich friends who fly in on jets to their lavish parties while the rest of us, seniors, poor and the vanishing middle class scrape to get by.
My oldest friend been duly paying his fair share into social security for 30 years. In fact, all of us in the middle class paid in a $3.2 trillion dollar surplus. And where did that money go while Republicans oversaw the "surplus". Poof gone – tax breaks for the wealthy and corporations to create jobs. I guess they meant in China. And now, when the time to put it back comes up, NO not the corporations and wealthy who took the surplus will repay, WE IN THE MIDDLE CLASS are supposed to repay ourselves. What shills for corporations and monied interests. Remember in November folks. 2012, the elderly and MIDDLE CLASS VOTE!!!!
Well, now you know Republicans will vote for him!
The use of the tactic of labeling candidates as idiots, nutcases, or anything else has no place in the race for the White House. Find legitimate reasons for joining or supporting one campaign or another. Calling names just shows the immature manner in which some people view candidates.
Surprise, surprise, there are empty seats on the Fed. What about all the appointment that are languishing in the Senate because one senator or another keeps the name from a vote by the whole Senate. There needs to be a way to stop this practice. The committees should have just so much time to study and/or release the name of the candidate to the Senate for a full hearing. The idea that anyone can stall nominations is outrageous and speaks to the manner is which the Congress does business. Why do we allow this to happen?
The only bigger idiots than Perry are the fools in Texas that elected GWB and Perry to office. Texans are just plain stupid.
I have a feeling that Rick Perry may have suffered oxygen starvation on several of his flights as a fighter pilot. That's the only explanation I can come with concerning several of his statements this week.
Thanks Bruce Bartlett for having the courage and respect for this great country to say it like it is.
here is the deaL/ Right now we have lots of idiots out there. So many that when some one makes sense like Perry they can't tell the truth when they see it. Yes to print more money is stealing from the unborn and grand children, Now it don't take science to figure that out. Just Plane Common Sense.
I agree with Perry the FED is an idiot and should quit now!
It was plain to anyone watching that Bush was a dim bulb, but that didn't stop him from getting elected. Big money knew they could control him, and the religious Bubba majority saw someone like themselves. A perfect republican canididate.
Perry will be a big player and for the dems to bad mouth him shows how scared they are the Bamster has not got a chance in the world.
This should come as no surprise to reasonable people who have suffered through that blowhard in TX. Recent events clearly demonstrate that the Republican party continues its shift towards the extreme, putrid right of the political spectrum: a small cross section of the American political landscape that devalues education, glorifies ignorance, views quitting as a virtue and takes pride in blatant hypocrisy. That is the only explanation for their revelry and excitement with the "D" student, "job-creating" TX governor/preacher idiot and the bona-fide ding-a-ling sporting a law degree from an unaccredited, "intellectual powerhouse" with a storied 6-year pedigree, O.W. Coburn Law, aka, Cracker-Jack U!
How could two dunces, who just a few years ago would have been roundly dismissed by their GOP counterparts, suddenly become mainstream in Republican politics? Well, this is what happens when a political party launches an all-out sustained assault on anything related to education. The modern-day Republican party is now reaping the fruits of their calculated strategy to maintain power through ignorance by attacking, undermining or subverting things from Head Start to Pell Grants; from the Department of Education to the National Institutes of Health; from textbooks to school lunches; from the science of stem cells to the science of climate change. Anyone else (Republican or Democrat) who is more educated, who advocates the vital importance of these things is branded as "elite" and subject to ridicule. Then, after the neo-Republicans create a significant underclass of ignoramuses that hew to their ideology but who are incapable of higher order thinking or basic computation skills (thus requiring companies to either seek foreign talent or offshore jobs to a smarter, cheaper labor force) they cry foul.
That is the thinking and warped mentality that has brought us the twin cancers of Perry and Bachmann, the fanciful, lunatic rants of the remaining GOP wannabes and the stench of the Republican Tea Party. If left unchecked, they will no doubt take America back indeed–back to a time when all decisions were made through the prism of religion; when the earth's roundness or polarity or scientific facts were dismissed by “learned” clerics; smart "elites", submissive women and minorities knew (and stayed in) their places; and education was optional. We all know how that turned out but, alas, a generation of fools who have failed to consult history (let alone read it) embark on a repeat performance with hopes of a different outcome!
The truth is a powerful thing. Never met a republican yet that had any appreciation for the truth, but never failed to lie about opponents to achieve their thought of success. According to Dant'e, there's a ring in hell for these people. Hope they get there soon.
Personally I thought his secession comment was more stupid than the one on Bernanke. Funny how it took this long to figure him out.
The Republican party of Texas should never have left him go past the borders. They all know his limitations and they can control him inside the borders. Outside, all bets are off and he is proving that everyday he opens his mouth. I am starting to think more highly of Bush. A Perry, Palin ticket would permantley lower the collective I.Q. of presidents.
Your choices this election cycle will be dumb, dumber, or that lamp post over there...
"He [Obama] has had open seats on the fed almost his entire presidency and I think that this sends a signal that he just doesn't care very much about what the fed does" Bartlett said. – doesn't he know that the repubs have blocked EVERY nomination to the fed that has been submitted?!
Let me make it crystal clear: Tea Party Republicans oppose raising taxes for millionaires, but have no problem raising taxes for the middleclass. The total tax burden on Americans in 2010, as a percentage of GDP, was 24%, lower than it was in 1965. In comparison, Canadians paid 31% of GDP in taxes, Britons 34%, Germans 37%, and the French 42% (and all have successful single payor healthcare), yet Tea Party Republicans backed by the Koch Brothers are pushing to lower the tax rate for the top 2% to a mind-numbing 14% of GDP, while increasing the tax rate for middleclass Americans to 36%. Corporate taxes are at their lowest point in 60 years, yet Tea Party Republicans are pushing to lower the corporate tax rate to 12%, even as cash-soaked corporations are sitting on $22 trillion in revenue and continue to close US factories, pink-slip Americans, ship jobs overseas, bilk Americans via Republican create tax loopholes, and conspire with lobbyist to keep lucrative taxpayer funded subsidies in place. Revenue is at a 15 year low, leaving many states unable to pay for the replacement or repair of aging bridges, roadways, and sewer systems, yet, in an effort to defeat Obama, Republicans continue to throw gasoline on our current economic crisis they created by calling for deeper reductions in revenue, even though Obama offered $4 trillion in cuts for $1 trillion in tax increases aimed at closing tax loopholes for corporations and millionaires (Buchman opposes exempting the first $20,000 in income from payroll tax, a move uniquely designed to benefit the middleclass). 72% of Americans support raising taxes on the top 2%, also known as the Republican base, yet Tea Party Republicans keeping promoting baseless claims that reducing taxes on millionaires will create jobs, which failed to happen from 2000-2008, when Republicans controlled American politics and 11 million jobs vanished, outsourced overseas. Under Bush 43, spending increased 241% ($11.6 trillion), while revenue decreased 442%, due primarily to cuts in income and capital gains tax for the wealthy (under Reagan, the capital gains tax was 28%, under Bush it was 14%, accounting for billions in loss revenue), which led to massive teacher lay-offs and a 93% loss of total wealth for middleclass Americans.”
Texas has a $26B budget shortfall – this despite receiving BILLIONS in Federal Government spending to help them.
Texas unemployment – at 8.2% – is higher than ANY of its surrounding neighboring states. If the media focuses on Texas` job creation/ unemployment data over the next 6 months, Americans will see things get worse [laid-off teachers, firefighters, etc.] as the stimulus money runs out.
Moreover, Texas ranks very low in education and other key leading metrics for the quality of life.
Rick Perry, you are not doing very well in your DAY JOB. Don`t you think that before trying to land the next big promotion for yourself, you should solve Texas` $26B BUDGET GAP?
Either that or quit, run for President and let someone else handle the FULL TIME job of being Governor.
*************************************************************************
The GOP blocked/obstructed/fillibustered a record number of bills/proposals that the Dems put forth. Then you tea partiers have the audacity to say Obama didn't do anything when they had control of congress? It was and continues to be a concerted effort on the part of the GOP to ensure Obama fails and does not win re-election. I believe the majority of Americans are on to what the GOP has done and what they truly stand for. You can blame Obama all you want but I believe history will portray correctly who is really to blame.
If Perry got voted for "often" it's because the people who voted for him "often" are idiots too. Bartlett called it right – Perry is an IDIOT! He won't win a general election with his 1700's ideology anyway.
I'm not stupid. You're stupid.
"He [Obama] has had open seats on the fed almost his entire presidency and I think that this sends a signal that he just doesn't care very much about what the fed does," Bartlett said.
The GOP has blocked almost every apointee Obama has made. So whose fault is that?
Watch Faux Gnus get all righteous about how the left is calling the new darling of the Tea Baggers an idiot. Idiots of the world will protest also. Actually Perry is a moron, at his best a bit player in a Grade B western.
Truth hurts doesn't it repugs?
In Texas, don't they call that "All hat and no cattle"?
Michelle Obama and President Obama traveled to Martha’s Vineyard just hours apart, costing taxpayers thousands in additional expenses so she could have just a bit of extra vacation time.
Mrs. Obama and her daughters arrived just before 2 pm Thursday on a U.S. government jet, according to the Martha’s Vineyard Times, which got its information from the local airport. The first lady’s office has been silent on her travel. President Obama arrived in the evening along with the family dog Bo.
The extra costs related to Mrs. Obama’s solo trip mainly include the flight on a specially designed military aircraft she took instead of Air Force One, as well as any extra staff and Secret Service that had to be enlisted to go with her. She would also have had her own motorcade from the airport to her vacation residence.
Mrs. Obama’s separate jet travel sends the wrong message on a host of issues, from global warming to the budget deficit to the economy – in which currently so many people can’t afford to take a vacation at all.
This is not the first time Michelle has gone on vacation ahead of the president on the taxpayers’ tab. Last December, she racked up what was likely more than $100,000 in expenses leaving early for their Hawaii vacation.
Thanks to one of our readers, who goes by Lizzy, for noting the double dip.
That Perry is idiot is indeed indisputable – unless you a brain washed evangelical, a CEO pal pulling in $50 million + a year, or an easily led, working class FOX type viewer who will always be persuaded to vote against their own and the nation's best interests. Unfortunately even when it's clearly stated by a respected conservative who was a Bush snr advisor, these people still manage to stick their heads in the sand. Sad.
I am voting for Rick Perry for President.
if all the RepubliCANTS produce is Perry and Bachmann, who can't keep her foot out of her mouth, then it is laughable to think things will improve.
I cannot recall a time when so many inconsequential people were taken seriously by a large segment of our population. Palin, O'Donnell, Perry, Bachman, etc. are all fringe candidates who 1) make up stuff or don't have a clue to the real facts 2) Have a good dose of narcissism 3) Align themselves with corporations/big business against the middle class 4) Appeal to the disenfranchised right wing nuts who would decimate the Constitution and our way of life. 5) Claim to be Christians but have no clue as to what that really means, because their greed is all encompassing( "It is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to attain the kingdom of heaven") If you look closely, it is a philosophy of "I got mine, want to keep it, and the hell with you".
As an ardent supporter of the president, I'm going to work as hard as I can to help Perry to win the GOP nomination. He would be even a better opponent than Palin or Bachman.
@ Trevor Adams
Bruce Bartlett is a former advisor to Reagan in the sense that Ann Coulter is a former MSNBC employee. This guy's livelihood is based entirely upon ripping the ripping the free market, then hiding behind the caveat "...and I worked for Reagan!" Read his NYT columns. He's left of Krugman. Oh, and he doesn't even have a degree in economics.
_____________________
No, he does not have a degree in economics, and Rick Perry was a C student in Animal Science who denies evolution: how is that really relevant to making policy? What you miss is the fact that Bartlett has the practical experience of having helped make policy at a national level, while Perry is only experienced at taking money from DC and his corporate masters, and lodging blame with others. There are no real "Perry initiatives" unless you count taking Stim money to balance a budget designed solely to benefit Big Business. BTW, you don't have to be Paul Krugman to read jobs data and realize the jobs Perry 'created" were largely min-wage in the private sector, or Public sector jobs, which outpaced private sector by a factor of 2 to1. Bartlett is not ripping on the Free Market, he recognizes the practical limitations of it to produce jobs, something you would understand if the GOP had not pulled over so far to the right that fascists are getting crowded off the roads.
Bruce isn't in lockstep. Wingnuts still blame the liberal media. Rick Bush was sent from heaven to help President Obama.
He has the Snookie Palin foot in mouth problem.
We have those texas members of limited intelligence and idiot design like bush and perry!!!! Where people who think they are normal kill and institutionalize those who really are normal!!!!!
"I mean, printing more money to play politics at this particular time in American history is almost treacherous, or treasonous, in my opinion," – - Perry isn't just an idiot, he also needs to bone up on the meaning of big words.
If Rick Perry is an 'idiot' then he's my kind of stupid. Believe it or not, different people in this country talk, and act and posture themselves differently. If Perry's Texas drawl and straightforward frankness is described as idiocy, then perhaps it's time for this county to get stuck on a different kid of stupid than what we have now. One thing's for certain. He's not more concerned about getting elected than he is about leading.
If the shoe fits...
The only real idiots are those who actually think it would be a good idea if Bernanke printed more money and further devalued the dollar. When the dollar drops in value so does everyone's pay checks and that goes for unempolyment checks and food stamps to. It also lowers the value of the interest paid to those who have borrowed money the the US Government, causing them to be reluctant to borrow more in the future unless the US pays a higer rate of interest. If the US has to pay higher interest in order to borrow the money it needs to feed the Obama big government machine, then future deficits will be even higher than currently projected. All bad policy for the US.
Perry should have chosen less harsh language, but he was smart on the substance of his statments.
Since both the normal left and the normal right call Perry an idiot does that mean he is a tea party darling?
bartless obviously is jealous of the impact perry is making on conservatives and he's not a part of it. i'm getting pretty sick of the RINO's criticizing perry because he is speaking for the majority of americans who are fed up with what washington and some of the elected poi-poi are doing to us. we need to clean house and that is exactly what perry will do and that scares the crap out of these people who have been on the public dole way too long.
The Dems are certainly not great, but what bothers me about the entire GOP field, is their lack of substantive solutions. We have 16 months till the next election - What legislation exactly, will the GOP champion during that time, that will help the economy? My guess is they will obstruct, filibuster, and block anything that could possibly be construed as helping the economy get better - all because any improvement will help Obama and the Dems keep control. S&P said the Partisan bickering, along with the GOP's anti Revenue stance were cited as two of the main reasons for our downgrade. Sadly it is good Politics just to blame the other party for our debt, but in reality, both parties are culpable. The Tea Party represent the Hooverites of the 21'st Century, and offer the same Fiscal Austerity card, Hoover used during the Great Depression, which caused Unemployment to soar from 9 to 25%. It is not Rocket Science - If Govt. is the Countries largest employer, (Which it is) if you cut Trillions from the budget it will result in massive unemployment, and reduced Revenue. Fiscal Austerity, when implemented alone, will create a whirlpool effect of decreased GDP. That is the fact. Its all been tried before, during the Depression. The only true solutions to our debacle is to Lower Corporate taxes to 15%, in line with the world's lowest – Repatriate offshored money without penalty, and Revise the tax code through a VAT, Flat Tax, or National Sales Tax, with appropriate exemptions for the poor and elderly. A National Sales Tax would allow us to tax Imports, without breaking Intl. agreements that limit tariffs. The Tea Party( and their followers, will inadvertently create The Great Depression through Austerity. This is the Unintended Consequence of Fiscal Austerity without fundamental tax Reform. We don't have just a spending problem ( IRS stats prove the Bush Tax cuts substantially lowered Govt. Revenue from 18.5 to 14.9%) We have both a spending problem, and a Revenue problem - To address one without the other will increase both the length and depth of our malaise.
How is it that the great state of Texas get to pick such mediocrities, starting with Bush Junior, to lead them.
The ONLY republican with a brain is obviously Ron Paul, perry is a theif and is uneducated.
I hate it when people claim that Obama had congress for 2 years all to himself....
Its not true!!!! Obama had control of the house and in the senate he had 58 senators for 6 months including the 2 independents.
People seem to forget that Ted Kennedy did on August 25 2009.
We don't need another texas village idiot. It reminds me of Mrs Corleone telling Michael's girlfriend that her son was not what she thought of him being.
The US is number 45 in a listnof income equality. Nigeria, cameroon, evdn iran fard better than us. The pack of arse holes on faux news are incensed because a family of four with a salary of all of $22,000 a year have luxuries such as 99% have a refrigerator, 81% have a microwave,78% have a/c and, how dare them, 25%have a dishwasher. This is while calling Buffett a socialist. How dare poor people have a refrigertator while the richbhave a private jet.the bottom 50% control only 2.5% of the wealth in the US. Who is a socialist now???? Yes, the rich!!
Why is it that the great state of Texas gets to pick such mediocrities, starting with Bush Junior, to lead them.
Perry reminds me of schoolyard bully—calling names, strutting around. God save us!
While his choice of words could have been less controversial, the message was that the US should NOT print money, as a short term fix of the economy, because.........there is no long term benefit to doing so.........quite the contrary.......devaluation of the dollar, would be the result, and that would be damaging in the long term.
I totally agree with that, and anyone who truly thinks this economy is going away any time soon, is going to be the idiot.
I LOVE this GOP sparring!! The left of the right of the right of the left are ALL in a quandry!! The Republican Party will NEVER be as we once knew it. They have gone so far right they have fallen off a cliff! And not even KARL ROVE can save them!!
An idiot indeed,.. a puppet president much like George W. Bush was,.. to serve only as a figurehead,.. and manipulated by the Koch Bothers,.. big oil, Halliburton , and the likes. Be careful America,.. don't make the same mistake over again,.. at least Obama , can think for himself, and is not in bed with the special interest crowd.
"He [Obama] has had open seats on the fed almost his entire presidency and I think that this sends a signal that he just doesn't care very much about what the fed does,"
I'd be very curious to see if these unfilled seats are appointments that can/are being held up in Congress.
Well, Texas politicans have not been a lot of help. Think maybe another Texan as President would not be a good idea. Then, again, choices must be made. When you have a boat full of idiots, the choices are limited. Looks like the boat may sink in 2012!?
If all the idiots who vote in Republican primaries vote for Perry as one of their own, he wins the nomination in a walk.
Once upon a time when I was a Republican, people like Mr. Barlett were people to admire. They were gentlemen, they were willing to cross the aisle and work with the Democrats for the good of our Nation.
The Teapublicans (aka GOP) have turned into extremists, of a kind that would destroy our Nation so they can score political points with the Teabaggers!
BRAVO to Mr. Barlett for calling-out Perry! Perry IS an idiot, a very dangerous one!
PS. America, reject FEAR! Wall Street IS making a boat-load of money on YOUR FEAR! STOP IT!
Obama has open seats on the Fed (and Treasury) because the GOP-bullied congress can't confirm anyone! There hasn't been a head of the ATF confirmed since 2006 because of Congress's stalemate. Absurd.
the leaders we elect reflect the level of education of a nation. If you elect idiots, dont blame the candidates, the real idiots might be the voters!
There are open sets on the Fed because the GOP won't approve any of Obama's appointments.
Idiot or not.
Unless the economy turns on a dime (and it won't, because it's both TOO BIG and being steered to make the incumbent look as BAD as possible so they can get the "Friends" who will set them up at the U.S. Gov't feeding trough and let them eat till their fat and not make them pay even a TIP on the BILL)
In 2020, you and I (the Class formerly known as Middle) will be broke, starving, and homeless because the Class formerly known as Middle got lined up and robbed by the EXTREMELY RICH.
And the IDIOTS will be the ones who elected the guys who held the door for the robbers.
Well, all I know is that the Harvard educated self proclaimed "genius" in the Whitehouse has been nothing but an unmitigated DISASTER in just about every way. given his track record for the last 3 years, I'd swap him out for this "idiot" ANY DAY of the year!!!
Nice to know that the old GOP isn't completely dead or silent! They used to be respectable. Their opinions used to be worth considering, and every once in a while, they were actually right about something. It's sad to see what they've become. My father, a lifelong republican, voted for his first democrat before he died and was proud to help elect Obama.
We in Texas who didn't vote for Perry (or Shrub) have known that for years.
@ Rick McDaniel
While his choice of words could have been less controversial, the message was that the US should NOT print money, as a short term fix of the economy, because.........there is no long term benefit to doing so.........quite the contrary.......devaluation of the dollar, would be the result, and that would be damaging in the long term.
I totally agree with that, and anyone who truly thinks this economy is going away any time soon, is going to be the idiot.
______________________________________
Devaluation of the dollar would be devastating, but so is rabidly partisan politics, and we are experiencing the consequences of that right now with the comments Perry is making. What is he is saying is obvious, but to suggest the Fed is committing treason is the kind of polical theater that led to the downgrade. Perry has got to act like an adult, or he won't be taken seriously, either as a candidate or as president.
He's an idiot in my opinion, but not THAT stupid. If the Fed stimulates the economy Pres, Obama's a slam dunk despite the right's strategy. Perry knows that his only and lonely shot is a bad economy. What would you do if you had a shot, however remote, to become President and that shot was tied to getting whatever money he would get in CORP America, Founding fathers be damned! They're dead and we want to change the constitution for our own social and fiscal reasons
If anyone wants to get a good idea of the kind of person Rick Perry is, just go down to the Texas A&M Campus, where he went to college and was a member of their Corps of Cadets. Just stand around campus and watch these moronic, jack-booted, brown-shirts strut around campus, promoting & controlling the university's military, Christian-fundmentalist agenda. This weird little subculture on the A&Mcampus is the laughingstock of other universities everywhere, including West Point. With a few exceptions, most of the products of this odd ROTC cult are certainly not fit to be president of the United States. Mr. Perry, BTW, is NOT one of the few exceptions.

Blah, Blah, Blah. Whatever. Mrs. Obama and her daughters will get to go on more trips adhead of the President when he's re-elected in November 2012. So eat your hateful heart out!
OBAMA 2012!
"More recently he attributed the economic recession to the former president and Republican Party."
I don't even know why anyone would be stupid enough to debate that fact. OH WAIT MR. PERRY......
If the Fed stimulates the economy Pres, Obama's a slam dunk
=================================================
Because it worked so well the first TWO TIMES!!! Leave to Obama and his lackeys at the Fed to triple down on stupidity, while WE pay the price with high inflation. But what the heck, Obama will do what ever it takes to get re-elected. He's still hoping to put the final nails in this country's coffin during a second term.
@ Brian:
I agree wholeheartedly. Where are the good minds that once filled the GOP ranks, people who knew the policies inside and out, knew their pros and cons, and were willing to work with Democrats for the good of the nation? They are gone, as extinct as the Dodo, forced out like driftwood in a rip tide. What is left behind? People who question science, ridicule bipartisanship, who respond to only lobbyists for multinationals and megachurches, and bow to the whims and ravings of radio talk show hosts who babble the sort of nonsense you only used to hear in a dive bar at closing time. This is so sad, that someone who speaks out is blasted as a RINO, a traitor, someone who has "...strayed off the reservation", etc. I truly fear for this nation when this level of ignorance is viewed with respect and admiration rather than the disdain it deserves. Since when did real Americans celebrate mediocrity on this scale?
Objectivity....Gates may have dropped out of school but he did not have pathetic grades like Perry. I keep hearing uneducated people keep throwing that up but they keep forgetting that a dunce would not be accepted into Harvard nor would they have the foresight and ideas to start their own companies!!!
Unfortunately, as much as I wanted Perry to be a viable Republican candidate, I have to agree. Perry is an idiot. *Sigh*
Just one more in the string.
Aren't there ANY level-headed responsible Republicans we can run for President next year?
Like Lee Iaccocca said: "Where have all the leaders gone?"
He should be used to getting called that by now anyway.
Rick Perry an idiot. Don't you love how stating the obvious becomes a news item?
Of course he is an idiot. That's why he is a tea bagger.
Real AMERICANS know the GOP is full of selfish prostitutes who will do anything and everything for a buck. The Dems are not perfect and some of them have been bought by the Koch Bros, etc., but at least most have a conscience and a work ethic. The Speaker of the House Boner set up Congress to be in session two weeks and then off for one week. You won't hear that fact on fox TV or the Jabba-the-butt (Limpball) hate radio show.
They Repubs keep putting up the lowest of lowest freaks knowing that Obama will win – that’s why we are continually plagued with narcissistic imbeciles like Parry, Palin, Bawckman, Santanourum, O’Donnell, etc.
Rick Perry Is a Idiot ,he know It and so does the American People. The Republican field they are more Idiot.
A breath of fresh, cogent air from a [R]? Wow. Then again Bartlett is from the old [R] party, the one that was still largely controlled by real conservatives. The one today is controlled by rightwing drama queens and delusional theocrats, whose fond hope is that modern America fail so that they can lead it back into the Dark Ages.
As a Texan myself, I wholeheartedly concur, Perry IS an idiot. If prayer worked I would've tried to pray for his idiocy to disappear.
People wake up. The Republican Party should be blamed for America’s demise, no matter how you look at it.
1. Start with President Bush inheritance of surplus that turn into deficit.
2. The wars that President Bush started that were never accounted for in the book
3. The tax cut that is suppose to trickle down -that is pure money off the table
4. President Obama came in with ridiculous deficit, a 1929 type recession and had no choice but to spend. Understand that businesses (GE, Banks, etc) and rich folks that got most of the president bush's tax cut and recovery money had stopped spending. And somehow, they blamed President Obama for spending too much, doing nothing, etc. The house republican stopped cooperating with the other branches of government.
5. All GOP candidates blame president Obama, but not the GOP Tea party that is hell bent on destroying the country under Obama's presidency. Sen. McCain was decent enough to assault this Tea (Terrorist) party.
6. Think people, the country is still running Bush’s economic policy -tax cut for the wealthy and it was renewed twice or so already, the war on terrorism, drug program, etc. that were never paid for. The Universal Health Program, President Obama major policy is not in effect until a few years. Yes, Obama has spend money to revive the economy, but this is same (if I remember correctly) money that was passed under President Bush.
7. Plainly, Obama has been scared to doing nothing by the Terrorist party.
@ For 15 Million People to Fond a Job:
Record unemployment for a record period of time?
Hahaha! Did Glenn Beck tell you that? So, the Great Depression....that, what? Comes in 2nd to our current situation? Is this the new Tea Party math? 9% > 25%?
Personally I like the Fed to print more money, I like the feeling of the new $100 bill, or is it a $10 bill? Now I'm confused!
Texas jobs were lucky. They had cheap living standards, so everyone flock there when the north was crippled.
Perry accepted most of the roughly $17 billion in stimulus funds allocated for Texas, the governor rejected $555 million that would have covered state unemployment benefits. the state's unemployment funds are depleted faster than expected, the governor eventually ask for a $170 million loan from the federal government,
CNN won't allow me to post the links, so you will need to research for yourselves Perry's association with the Green Party of Texas. This would answer many people's questions as to why Perry continued to be elected Governor of Texas. Plus, check the recent bill passed by Texas Republicans regarding requirements that must be met in order to vote and the refusal of thousands of voter registrations (Democratic). If you don't believe elections can or are fixed, you will believe it when you research what has happened in Texas under Perry's rule.
Bruce Bartlett is a Fired former Bush aide .Most disgruntled Fired people will do that, revengefully.CNN doesn't give you the facts and background of this guy.Look it up for yourself. He is the Idiot. The Fed pouring money in the way Bernanki did has a lot 2 do with the current inflation increase. Check your grocery bill.
"Idiot" is the most charitable thought about Perry I've heard all day. Unfortunately for all the other idiots in the world, Perry drags them down to his level.
If this guy worked under Bush and for Paulson then he was all for the bailouts I assume. Assuming this he is an idiot!!!!!!!!!
Blame game, getting old.
I take it back – Paltel Slubinski – is the ultimate idiot. Fox TV celebrities can be proud of the slug they have produced – No contest.
Obama and Democrats must be terrifed of Perry.
Americans are pleading for more jobs. The Obama/Pelosi/Reid policies have not produced them as promised and it does not look like they will going forward.
Yet Texas with Perry as Governer has produced around 40% of the new jobs that have been created in America. Under Perry's leadership and policies, Texas is doing what Obama and the Democrats have not be able to do.
Yet instead of celebrating and learning from what Perry and Texas is doing, Democrats are attacking, making fun of and trashing Governer Perry and Texas. Talk about stupid. America is pleading for jobs, only 26% of Americans approve of Obama's handling of the economy in latest Gallup poll, and Democrats are trashing the state and Governer that is producing by far the most jobs in America. Exactly what Americans, especially the unemployeed, will be impressed with this strategy. It does not get more stupid than that.
Help me help you
Bruce Bartlett is an idiot, and I don't think anybody can disagree with that.
@ Brad
Personally I like the Fed to print more money, I like the feeling of the new $100 bill, or is it a $10 bill? Now I'm confused!
__________________________
Should work well in the min-wage world the GOP wants for you. Does it have Glen Beck on it, giving you the finger and laughing at your stupidity?
Hey, if it's true, it's true!
Bartlett's comment that Governor Perry is an idiot is right on! George W. Bush was an idiot for show; RIck Perry is an idiot FOR REAL!!!! Get over it Republicans!!! Nominate someone who's actually qualified for the job for God and America's Sake!!!
Labeling that nincompoop an idiot is an insult to idiots. He (Perry) is a mere whippersnapper in this world, but he has bull-sh!t on his expensive boots so he thinks he sounds better than he smells. He's BENEATH AN IDIOT. (I lived in TX twice on contracts since 2001, and the man is laughed at by common people). Perry must have fixed the voting machines in that state.
Everyone is entitled to an opinion. Unfortunatly his has about the value of a day old turd.
A "D" in college economics but the Yell Leader. Sounds like great qualifications to be an idiot. Next he'll probably one up Bachmann's $2/gallon gas promise to $1.99/gallon.
It is very clear that Democrats and the left can not stand Perry, and think he is and idiot and want him to go away.
But I feel very safe in saying that the majority of Americans who do not believe that the Obama policies have created jobs and especially the millions of unempolyeed Americans, are very interested in what Perry has done in Texas to create so many jobs when the rest of the country is struggling to do so. Americans are desperate for jobs and Texas under the leadership of Perry has been very successfull in creating them. Americans are looking for leaders who can deliver, not leaders who have failed and then blame others for their failure and on top of that trash someone who has succeded.
It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure this one out. Common sense tells you Perry is an idiot...just listen to him....only problem is that there are a lot of other idiots out there that may vote for this loon...That's what you have to be concerned with!
Well, heck, he is just telling the truth, Perry is an Idiot, a corrupt idiot, but still an idiot.
Yes, Rick Perry is an idiot, and we need him to leave Texas ASAP. He actually prints his name, rather than signs his name, on government documents.
An idiot, no. A MORON absolutely!
I don't know why people in Texas, didn't know he was an idiot and kept voting for him for Gov., what does that say for
Texas. I live in Texas, the jobs created in Texas were at Walmart, if you want them come and get them. You need to fact check when listening to the lie. Rick Perry is the one who has profited. Teachers, students, educators, and the economy has suffered during Perry's reign, he is only concerned for big business, corporations, he is not a leader but a puppet, who ever has the money, can pull his strings. We don't have a state income tax, just high taxes..property, sales and the new term a fee for everything...Read if you can Tea Party Mike...I live in Texas I know..He took stimulus money, then said, he didn't..but squandered away money while the mansion was in repair...failed to debate during governor's race..know you know why. i can't wait to see him debate..instead of speaking like Jimmy Swaggart..maybe he will cry too.
As Howard Stern is called "King of All Media", many Texans (including me) crown Rick Perry "King of All Idiots"! I can't imagine who keeps voting for this hypocrite.
Well, he's a guy even Republicans think is an idiot. That's sure to get him lavish praises on Fox News and win over the Tea Party base in the process
People with degrees in Texas are in the unemployment lines, where are the jobs Perry has created..stop telling that lie and prove it...Come to Texas and see for yourself..Minimum wage jobs at Walmart, is not going to get this economy moving. You sat by and let the republicans run our country's economy into the ditch..with greed, lies about the need for war,and said nothing for 8 years...made money off the middle class, hardworking taxpayers, who kept this country growing...now that we have lost our jobs (most have been shipped overseas) you can clearly see, when we don't work in this country it has a domino affect...around the world. Look at the world's economy..The middlle class exist no more, bring back our jobs..let the rich pay their fair taxes....stop funding other countries...let's take care of home now..Oil industries, corporations, insurance companies, banks and others have milked us dry...When we work, the economy works!
Perry and Bachmann should procreate and make idiot babies...... Name them George and Sarah
Bottom line here is simple. The Bushies hate this guy because he wouldn't bow down to them. He told them to quit calling him, that HE would run Texas, not them. They felt dissed, and that is the story. Carl Rove is pushing Paul Ryan you will notice...no love lost between the Bush and Perry camps.
"But I feel very safe in saying that the majority of Americans who do not believe that the Obama policies have created jobs and especially the millions of unempolyeed Americans, are very interested in what Perry has done in Texas to create so many jobs when the rest of the country is struggling to do so."
Parry has created a lot of low-paying, little or no benefits jobs. President Obama, despite the Republicans' every effort to stop him, kept our country from going into a Great Depression; his policies would do even more good if the Republicans and teabaggers would put our country's best interest ahead of their own political gain.
Isn't that pathetic? The GOP and teabaggers are willing to destroy our country in their efforts to regain power.
Not only is Parry an idiot, anyone who hasn't recognized just what his party and the teabaggers are up to are also idiots.
As an Independent it is very difficult to have to make real decisions about who's worthy of my vote, as no one person is a perfect candidate for any office. I find in most cases I have to pick between the better of two, and sometime more, polititions to place my vote with. However with this Gov. Perry individual I find that he has a great deal of growth to make before running in the highest office in the country. Frankly I don't know how he got elected. But as in almost all Governers
he 's proven the 'Peter Principle' for his constituents. They were looking at his glamor effect rather than anything substantially intellectual. I'd rather see a monkey get the presidency than this shell of a man. Where do these so called conservatives come from and why?: Perry, Bachman, Palin, and their ilk. Imagine what direction our country would head if they were elected? Although I have to say that I saw a picture of Bachman deep-throating a big sausage in the news. At least she could placate some of the leaders of countries around the world that are holding our bonds....I hope the Repuiblicans find someone better than these three before the convention
while he was at it why didn't he call Sarah Palin an idiot too for agreeing with Perry? And those of you saying the Dems are SCARED TO DEATH of Rick Perry...didn't you guys use that same line with the left being scared to death of Sarah Palin. I think the ones that are scared is the GOP of Obama since they can't seem to be happy with the field they have to challenge him and keep trying to get folks like Chris Christie to run. Oh by the way I live in Texas and Perry IS an idiot.
Perry is an idiot and he is a liar. His record in TX is horrible and the people of TX hate him. He has destroyed education there and they have the lowest high school graduation rate in the country. They have the highest illiteracy rate. Perry has not created jobs. He bribed companies to move to TX with only minumum wage jobs. He wanted to secede TX from the Union. He is fake Christian and a known racist. He is not only an idiot but a destroyer of his State and threatens people with violence who do not agree with him. Let the two morons- him and Bachmann keep ripping the Republican Party to shreds. America is sick to death of their extremism and NO JOBS agenda.
We do not need Mr. Bartlett to tell us that; we know it already. Rick Perry does not know anything about economics or for that matter any subject including religion. This guy is running for President and does not seem to know the role of the Federal Reserve. He is threatening Fed Chairman with treason for ...stimulating the economy. Federal Reserve was created to ensure that our country does not get stagnated and has the responsibility to stimulate the economy whenever there is a recession. We need the economy to be stimulated, we want jobs, we want growth.... and Perry apparently does not think so. He would rather have the country suffer just so that he can make a political point to win an election. Does this guy really care about the economy? He never really cared about Texas. All he cares about is himself. if Mr. Bernanke could put some money in Perry pocket, Bernanke would be his closest friend.
I seriously think this is part of the Republican plan to distance Perry from Bush. Dems are going to have a tough time painting Perry as BushIII when his entire circle keeps bashing him. All Perry has to say is, "Those guys hate me because I'm nothing like them".
well, he is an idiot!
Rick Perry can't handle the truth that he's a flaming idiot.
Vote for yell leader Supremo !
Perry il duce 2012
I love the photos of Ricky at Texas A&M , wow , he's gay as day !
Well....let's see..and idiot and a Blowhard.....
Sounds like another Texas Combination we knew..Can you spell SHRUB?
The Rick Perry campaign responded today to characterizations of the Governor as an 'idiot' by a former Bush official with:
"Nyah! Nyah! Nyah! Your mother is ugly and your feet stink!"
More on the 10pm news....
The title of this article alone is proof of CNN's political bias. I for one, am just plain sick of it. I honestly don't know why I even check in here. So much for journalistic integrity. One would have thought that a respectable journalist wouldn't resort to name calling. Of course, if you can't logically oppose a person's position, then you attack a person's character. CNN is great at this; however, interestingly they choose to attack Republicans versus Democrats 9 times out of 10.
Great! Another nobody refers to a Republican as an idiot. Quick, let's write a story and post it at CNN.
Everything's big in Texas..including their idiots.
Some guy who nobody's ever heard of called Rick Perry an idiot... front page news on CNN... Israel is attacked and 7 people die and you can't even comment on the story
he would have to raise his iq a few points just to reach idiot level, Dan.
@ sTACEY
You are such a Bimbo ! You never gave notice or concern when GW Bush traveled did you , He would fly his two girls , wife and himself on deferent aircraft time and time again. Look at the vacation time Obama has taken compared to Bush. Bush took more vacations right after 911 then most travel guides !
You complain about the Presidents Bus , his Car , Air Forse one , all you obstructionist dinosaur wackos do is complain .
All you morons who voted for GW Bush and followed his dumb ass into two wars lasting ten years , that shredded our economy. You need to pull your pants down and look in the MIRROR !
Everytime I see this guy or hear him I can't stop laughing. Did Texans elect him governor or was he appointed? He's like a cartoon character.
He must be a secret "liberal" in disguise! Oh, wait, Rick Perry IS an idiot. Instead of doing something to contribute to the economic situation, Perry blasts everyone and then his genius idea was to assemble a group of people to pray away the problems. Yeah, I'm talking to you GOP conservative people. If this is your idea of a leader, you guys are in a heap of trouble...if you manage to get him into the WH, and there is a nuclear attack...you morons better hope he doesn't ask you to pray the situation away.
By the way, how'd that prayer thing in Houston go anyways? OH yeah, NOTHING HAPPENED. Now grow up and vote responsibly for the country and not for your own twisted sense of reality/ideology.
Perry is no Idiot.Just look at how all the LIBERAL networks are trying to knock him down. He will have last laugh. Obama is the biggest moron of them all!He has ruined our country, His bielif system does not work in AMERICA ...mabe he should go to sweeeden . Hope he takes vacation and does not return!!!!Go Perry 2012!!!! Anybody but Obama.
This GOP member isn,t saying something the we all never new, just that I hope now it comes frome the mouth of a GOP AMERICAN would listen.
Does anyone else notice that Texas produces some really low IQ political leaders and then we elect them? I wonder what that says about the Great State of Texas and us?
@Teabagger Mike: If YOU and your drooling bretheren are truly interested in how Perry created all those jobs in Texas, GO RESEARCH IT, instead of demagoguing it. If you do honest research away from the believe-in-the-Tea-fairy lunacy, you'll learn that a majority of the jobs he created are directly attributable to government spending, if not direct gov't employment. That makes the Teatard Perry an unabashed hypocrit, not to mention a proven intellectual dolt! Looks like these are strict requirments to be a [R] govenor of Texas.
Now, your comment about "Americans are looking for leaders who can deliver, not leaders who have failed and then blame others for their failure" is then a first rate bit of personal and political hypocrisy. No wonder you worship political leaders that are brainless fools wearing tinfoil hats.
YOU are the very "mediocrity" that The Real Tom Paine (4:19 pm) was talking about. And though he hit the rightwing nail squarely on its empty head, he was being overly gracious to malignant nimrods like you.
Yeah good thing we have the Ivy League crowd running the country they're doing GREAT!
BTW what kind of grades did Obama get? Oh, that's right, he's paid a flock of lawyers MILLIONS to seal his past.
Nothing there I'm sure move along.
Well said and very very true.
Yeah, like your uncle tom house ***** isn't an idiot with his policies (obamacare, stimulus package, illegal immigration. Should I go on?). Most of you peons had never heard of bartlett until this article and that's just one persons opinion. The minstrel show ends Jan 2013
And having worked for Reagan and Bush, we can trust that Bartlett knows an idiot when he sees one!
Well, there you go.
Rick Perry says that if he is elected President, he's going to repeal all the laws with which he disagrees. The first law he's going to repeal is the Law of Gravity.
@Tea Party Mike-
Stop with the speaking "for the majority of Americans". The tea party is practically extinct (or just the butt of jokes) and if you are still in complete denial about that, the 8-1 ratio of people on here who are against Perry (ratio is even higher on the Palin/Bachman blogs) rather than for him should have clued you in that any tea party candidate is doomed. Also, drop "tea party" from your name and I promise, more people will read your posts rather than rolling their eyes at your name as they keep scrolling down....
I am a conservative and I want Obama and all his moronic cronies thrown out of office as soon as possible, but I cannot support any of the so-called Christian Right candidates. This country is in the most serious trouble it has been in since World War II. 61 trillion dollars in debt? If every American worker was taxed 100% of his/her earnings for the next nine years it would not be enough to cover it (and that's just the federal debt). We need a president who doesn't feel the need to drop to his knees and ask Jesus for guidance every time a problem arises. We need a leader, not a follower.
Oh and to the angriest guy on here, something about "15 million jobs someone only has to lose one", or whatever, we can't hear you yelling, so the nastier your comments are, the less effect they have.
And by the way, there are some really smart people on this blog who come prepared with factual statements, not just fox news sound bites. You better start your research buddy,or they will tear your comments to pieces.
Leo
Maybe now Obama will release his transcripts. At leat the GOP candidates agreed to do that.
Why at CNN does everyone name call? If you can't offer sensible comments instead of hate, then stay off the site. Our mess is a combination of all administrations. We need to stop spending money.
Oh, and since Washington created this mess why should any of us pay more in taxes to clean it up. It is time to cut the budget, cut the spending and because of this some folks may have to rely on their families to take care of them instead of the government.
Perry is an idiot?? So what else is new!!!
II love it. The treasury secretary for the GOP's hallowed and revered Reagan Administration calls it right and puts the blame for this mess squarely on the shoulders of GW Bush. Sensible people with half a brain who can do simple Math problems know this to be the case And then taggin' Gov Perry to boot (hand tooled leather even). It doesn't get any better than this – unless maybe the Gipper himself came back and gave a "ditto".
Unfortunately, American voters have a history of voting for morons from Texas.
Michele Bachman's husband runs a ministry that says you can turn gays straight. It cannot be done, just ask Rick Perry. This is the news story CNN.
I don't think of him as idiot as much as I think of him as a supreme DOOSH bag.
Absolutely right!
And from a Republican no less.
I can't say it any better than Mr. Bartlett.
Hot shots like Perry usually destroy themselves,he has a pretty good start. He still thinks he is running in Texas and not Nationally.it won't belong before one of his Girl friends or Boyfriends will come out of the woodwork and then this Overbearing Blowhard will have to answer some tough questions. He can not cover everthing up by taking a bite of food or trying to ignore the press. He won't last long.
***********New Flash*********Unemployment rate in Texas goes up from 8.2 to 8.4 %.....Where's the miracle
While my comment is "awaiting moderation", I am not awaiting donating to Ron Paul.
If there's one thing Republicans really hate – it's the truth – especially when it comes from a Republican.
Actually, Bartlett's comparing Rick Perry to an idiot is an insult to idiots everywhere.
The question is not how many jobs were created in Texas but did the companies bring their workers with them. If you look at the numbers of people who needed to be hired in Texas it leads one to believe that the workers did not move but were added to the unemployment rolls of other states.
Belittling the candidates does not do us one bit of good. Let's look at them as people and as candidates and decide who should be president. The adjectives that are currently being used show that our country has not moved forward at all. We have not learned that all of this name-calling and angry rhetoric can be destructive.
If we work at it we will get out of this mess. Right now we need to find ways to help the unemployed and make sure that those with low-paying jobs can feed, clothe and house their families. Perhaps those who wish to use the internet to put forth their own agendas are not helping at all.
Rick Perry....Smoke and mirror politician....and yes an idiot! And a LIAR also.
Thats the problem with the FED, they print money with nothing to back it up. They just print more money and loan it to the US for currency. The more money you print the more you devalue the dollar. I think Perry may have been a little extreme in his comments but it would be very dangerous to print more money with thw economy as it is. Beside , if he does print more money goods and services will just go up including gas prices. Heck look at the price of gold now, it closed over $1850 a troy oz. today. To bad we do not have anymore in fort knox to shore up our economy.
CNN as it again. Why don't vet your God King Obama ? You didn't do in 2008 and we got the Marxistsonfobitch that sits in the Oval Office.
When the pump fits, wear it!
And reasonable folks know he is one.
All he said is what everyone knows already. Same can be said about Bachmann.
Here in Texas we have known all along that he is an idiot! It is refreshing to hear someone with Republican and national experience say so. Spread the word to all the middle class folks who support Republicans (oxymoron) so that his flubs are well documented across the country.
And what exactly is untruthful regarding the notion that Ricky-poo is an idiot?
"Americans are desperate for jobs and Texas under the leadership of Perry has been very successfull in creating them". If you actually lived in Texas you would know that the jobs that were created are minimum wage jobs at best. I see on a daily basis people losing their well-paid career jobs under Perry's "leadership". Not only that, but Perry is taking credit for jobs creation when the policies that allowed for Texas to be so "successful" were in place long before he even thought about running for office.
They all have a bit of "idiot" in them ...
coolaid line starts here
For Bruce Bartlett to call Rick Perry "an idiot", is – in the words of my dear, wonderful, grandmother – like the pot calling the kettle black. Bartlett had the temerity to come before Congress – among other venues where he has professed his, supposed, expertise – and tell them that the Fair Tax would not work...and give absolutely no, zero, nada evidence to support his claim. The guy is a narcissist and an idiot. He is no one to be calling names.
There is a Tea Party utopia for Rick Perry and his ilk. It has an insignificant federal goverment. There are virtually no taxes. No IRS. No Dept. of Education. No regulators. No Social Security or Medicare. Where is this magical place? Try Somalia.
@Sandy:
Are you kidding? They won't even bother covering it–why waste energy covering the truth when they could be using it to mock the "lamestream media" (though the fact that they came up with that moniker helps us understand that, rather than being an insult, it seems to be their final goal as a media organization).
When will these conservative 'Christians' read the bible? Jesus was liberal!
Rick Perry= Mad Cowboy Disease-–Hoof and Mouth Disease too.
Perry is an IDIOT. Just listen to him speak.
Another Texas Moron running for President, just what we need. I can't believe the good people of Texas would even vote someone like this into public office.
As much as I hate to admit it, Rick Perry will be the next president. There is nothing we can do, he is unstoppable. Obama has had almost 3 years to make some kind of improvement, but he still blames Bush and Congress (who have only been in power for 9 months). I'll give it to him that he came in at a bad time, but still..... nothing but finger pointing, do something, anything, show us that you have a basic understanding of what your doing.
Rick Perry: The 2012 Fred Thompson model
Perry is an idiot! Big hat, no cattle.
Let's give'em the benefit of the doubt–he's an imbecile.
Now I know where all the uneducated democratic voters hang out. Thank you all for accepting our unemployment and welfare checks and i look forward to your continued useless voting routines in 2012. Go Entitlements!
Perry had better put one of the mega church preachers on his payroll, because he needs all the help he can muster. If praying is as strong as Perry thinks it is, he had better shoot for the moon and try to get one of the Grahams or maybe Pat Robertson. He needs a heavy hitter that's for sure.
I was thinking about a week ago,"I hope the GOP can produce a plausible candidate that I can consider voting for in 2012". Instead, I got Rick Perry. As much as it pains me, I might be stuck voting for Mickey Mouse or Eric Cartman. I love write-ins!
TP Mike, you are truly a Tea party idiot just like Perry
Perry is an IDIOT. facts are facts and thats that
The whiny Senator from Alabama, the one that appears to be dipping snuff when he addresses the Senate, would make Perry a good running mate. He is almost as dumb as Perry.
Tea Party Mike must be getting ready to run for something, he uses the phrase "going forward" like a good Republican. Just what in the hell does going forward refer to anyhow, as opposed to going backward like the Republicans want us to do and depend on Reagan's trickle down economic policy. What a bunch of do-dos.
For those of you not living in Texas all your life, an Aggie is a graduate of Texas A&M University. Their minds are generally ok before they went to A&M. Once they come out, their minds are generally unstable, and their IQ were magically reduced by a factor of two to ten, with the cadets being in the eight to ten range.
Rick Perry is a typical Aggie cadet which is very good to all the Aggies, but a trajedy to the rest of the population. If, God forbid, he ever becomes the US President, America will undoubtedly become the laughing stock of the world !
So, for the sake of the country, Mr. Perry, please be a true Aggie and withdraw from being a candidate for the President of this country. Just be the governor for another twenty years, ok ?
Sorry stacey , that was ment for Mark from Louisiana !
I agree, Perry is an idiot. So is Obama, only much more so!
I'm not agree with Rick's plan but he is right some one need to stop Bernanke's economical disorder..
So there IS an intelligent Republican in the country.....who would have thought???
No argument here
I love when these guys get rolling since it all but guarantees that any half sane moderates and independents will be back in the Obama column before you can say...Heehaw! Oh, and Dominionists like Perry are a disgrace to Christianity.
Bartlett supported Obama in 2008. He is obviously a much bigger idiot than Perry.
If you look at the photo of Parry that accompanies this article he looks remarkably like Josh Brolin who played "W" in the Oliver Stone movie of the same name. If you don't know the movie, it was a savage portrayal of him as a bumbling, dim, false-machismo Texan who was a puppet of his handlers: Cheyney (whose daughter is married to another woman!!), Karl Rove, et all. It's the same with every photo or interview I've seen of Parry. He's posing and acting how he thinks a Texan should act. Someone close to him needs to tell him that the Upper 49 are having a good old time at his expense and he should stop behaving the fool. He really is a moron. Fool me once (George W. Bush) shame on you; fool me twice (Rick Parry) shame on me!!
Count me as yet another Texan who certifies that Perry is a 24 karat, dyed-in-the-wool, no-doubts-about-it, take-this-check-and-cash-it imbecile that actually makes Dumbya Bush look smart by knuckle-dragging comparison. The only chance Perry has to get elected president is if he has his lips surgically sewn together and has both hands cut off; in this way he cannot speak like a brain-dead fungus nor write his vapid stupidities down on paper. Only in rabidly white trash, gun-totin', evangelical neo-con nutjob Texas could someone as incredibly and preposterously cretinous achieve a position of power. But after Bush, DeLay and Gramm, is there any criminal idiot we won't elect?
When do the bumper stickers go on sale? Sounds like an opportunity for someone out there.
Being an idiot is actually a positive for a candidate. Idiots can be easily manipulated, what we don't need is smart, honorable and consistent people as President, guys like Ron Paul should be ignored, he's even got integrity, a definite drawback. Perry has all the assets to be a model President for Corporate America.
I was visting my mom and stepdad who live in Waco. And bob told me the weather is changing.like what would be in a part of the country the weather is cold .now it's getting that way in texas. Are we ready for another teas president .dumb and dumber.Wake up and do the job you were put in office for.i dont take much stock in the tea party.it's their way or the highway.just ask any republican if you dont do as they tell you they will make sure you dont get reelected.me i dont want people like that to the country.they probley were all ways getting their way when they were growing up.
Another republican, religious, cowboy idiot from Texas with no clue, just what the country needs.
Much like W, Mr. Perry has the ability to kneel and confer with Jesus. It will all work out and some lame brain Americans will actually vote for him.
If he and idiot ,then he fits in Washington as of today standards.
No doubt someone who served under W would have experience spotting idiots.
Living in Texas for more than 60 years? I disagree with former President Clinton. Perry is NOT that good looking in my opinion, but I agree that he's a "Rascal" for sure! He has hurt the Children, Women, the Elderly, the disabled, and that's just the tip of the iceberg! Please folks, don't be taken in by this hypocrite, because it appears to this Texan that he's not of good character that he tries to portray. In my opinion he's hurt many here in Texas, and God only knows what damage he could inflect on this Nation! Please, beware of sheep in wolf's clothing, or should I say coyote's clothing?
definition of an idiot, "a person who can't see the forest for the tress". Yep Rick fits it!!
printing more money treasonous? what about outing a CIA Operative during wartime? Running a false flag operation to nationalize the country against an imaginary enemy and going to war under fals pretenses?
The Kneepad Media fears candidates like Perry because they know Obama is on the ropes and anyone who can excite the public into hoping (ahem) for real change (ahem) can beat him. So of course they're tearing down Rick Perry, just like they tore down Sarah Palin.
But my compliments on the acoustics in here. The echo is magnificent.
(Um, that means "really good" for you typical CNN viewers.)
I thought being an idiot was a prerequisite to being a GOP/Teabagger favorite. Its part of the package, willing to say anything to pander to those people living in their internet shaped world of hidden world conspiracy.
Finally, an honest, intelligent Republican. How refreshing. I am so tired of hearing these morons spewing the party line with no care for the impact on average Americans. The "I am right, you are wrong" attitude in today's politics is destroying the American dream. How about we try something new next election... VOTE YOUR OWN PERSONAL ECONOMIC INTEREST. If you don't let these morons distract you from what is economically important by speaking of divisive issues like gay marriage (REALLY? how about the 9.7% unemployment rate), God, Jesus or any other mythical creation meant to divide (I don't care about your relationship with "GOD" and seriously should we really vote for someone who hears voices?). Remember, there are more of us than them and if we vote intelligently and not be manipulated by fear or hatred we will get a government that serves the people.
Yes, I agree with you is Rick Perry is triple idiot and don't know why still have dump people vote for him 3 term for Texas governor. He screw TX big time same as Bush. Rick perry is a big liar before he re-election about the Texas budget with $820 million and unemployment still high. Now I will work for minimum pay without insurance Where he can said: "He is create job for Lone Star state?" Could you prove to us? Listen the CNBC or FOX or CNN idiot Rick Perry. Almost 50% uninsured for adult and children. Go back live under your wife dress same as Bush. Leave us alone. Sarah Palin please go back Alaska.
One of you called Bill Clinton an idiot his LOL. Bill Clinton's I.Q. is about 157, what is Rick Perry's 78? The man got a D in economics at Texas A&M and failed courses he majored in. Texas unemployment rate has doubled since he took office and most of the jobs that were created in Texas were government jobs the very thing he rallies against.
Of course Tea Party Mike hasn't read any statistics about unemployment rates in Texas that weren't made up by Fox news or he would know the only jobs Perry made in Texas are Government jobs and all you have to do to create them is spend government money.
I'm sure all of you criticizing Perry would do a much better job running Texas. We will keep Perry and our booming Texas economy if you do not want him.
Perry would have to work his way up to idiot. He says things like "Science, schmience! Bout as useful as curb feelers on a Brahma Bull!" and and yet some people don't think he's too stupid to be president? In that case, I have to wonder, who's the bigger fool, the fool, or the fool who follows the fool?
Bartlett is the idiot.....Maybe he should do some research on the Glass-Steagall Act and who repealled it and its effects. Also should study the Barney Frank, Chris Dodd regualations that fed the housing bubble.
Bartlett has just insulted every genuine "idiot" in the world.
Perry has done a great job in Texas. While many states have no new jobs Texas had many. It does not matter whether they are low paying jobs or not, THEY ARE JOBS. What has Obama done to create jobs? Unemployment remains high; dollar is greatly devalued, causing higher prices in almost everything; we do not have an energy program; and on and on. Meantime, Texas has become a most favorable place for new businesses, cost of living is low (2000 sf brick homes for under $200,000, etc.), no income taxes (just an 8% sales tax), highway improvement being made, etc. Only real problem is school financing, and hopefully that is being worked on. I am confident that the state will continue to grow; and he will have had a lot to do with it.
Rick GPA A&M 1.9583, isn't the what we need right now. As the rock band the Who said "meet the new boss, the same as the old boss....we don't get fooled again"......by the way unemployment rate in Texas just increased from 8.2 to 8.4. Is RP taking credit for this too?
Rick Perry for President!.....He will end this "illlegal" thing by opening the borders, so that our good rich citizens can take full advantage of our country's demise......He will decrease unemployment, by taking one U.S. citizens $15 per Hr. job and turning in to two Mexicans jobs @ $7.50 per Hr...... CEOs, who demand the value of good cheap 5$ a day labor in our country, love and support Rick Perry, So Friend, Why don't you? REMEMBER: Open Borders Rick Perry for 2012 !
