Obama slammed for vacation, but that's nothing new

Hyannis Port, Massachusetts (CNN) - After returning late Wednesday night from a three-day bus tour of Middle America, President Obama left Washington once again Thursday afternoon - this time for Martha's Vineyard in Massachusetts and a 10-day vacation with his family.

Obama's vacation comes at a tumultuous time for the country, domestically and overseas. The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed down 410 points just as the president boarded Air Force One. He is set to release a new job creation proposal in early September, and a U.S.-led call from the international community for Syrian President Bashar al-Assad to leave power was publicly released the morning of Obama's departure.

Well, compared to the last vacation he has done more than he ever could in one year than Bush did in eight. Obama, you can get the deficit down and then have the rest of the time off of this term. You are quids in next time for the nomination for a second term.

I'm still waiting to see the picture of him with a hack saw and a pile of branches while wearing a cowboy hat for 8 full months at the beginning of his first term.

President deserves time with family, regardless of the state of the economy.

I don't see anything wrong with Obama taking a vacation now. I'm sure in 10 days he will pick his 2012 campaign up right where he left off. But as for the family, he will have lots of quality time to spend with them starting in January 2013 when he joins the swelling ranks of the unemployed. Poor Michelle. She will get an earful of woulda coulda shoulda then. I'm sure she will encourage him to spend plenty of time on the golf course then.

Obama should stay on vacation. In fact he should go back to Chicago and get back into something he knows about, what ever that may be, while America still has a chance to recover from the two years of his experiments.
Every decision Obama has made has lead to chaos!
At least don't let him make anymore decisions.

He's taken LESS THAN HALF THE NUMBER OF DAYS THAT SHRUB TOOK AT THIS POINT.

Get a life, people. Take a vacation yourself. I have, and I will again. (nutjobs) Even your princess paylin takes vacations. She's the one that needs to spend time with her retarded children (all of them).

Every time someone comes on TV and slams the President for taking a ONE WEEK vacation the first question a good journalist should as is why it was fine with the Republican party for Bush to SEVERAL WEEKS of vacation every year. The fact that this question hasn't been asked AT ALL to these bozos is evidence of bad journalism.

Multi-tasking everybody. Doesn't appear like the Party of NO is able to do that as they obstructed as much as politically possible and then went on a 5 WEEK break! Since the GObP has divorced themselves of any responsibility for the current state of the economy, once it begins yet another rebound, they won't be able to take any credit either. HA!

isn't ALL of Congress on vacation? If that is the case why should the president not have one as well. And he is spending time with his wife and two young children so you would think that the party of "Family Values" would acknowledge that. But the GOP decided to SLAM this president no matter what he does, if he had stayed back in DC and worked on problems I am sure they would have slammed that as well. So I don't blame Obama, if you're darned if you do, darned if you don't then why not DO!

He's taken far less vacation time then Bush had at this same point in his presidency so I'm really not concerned. Obama could be in DC at the drop of a dime should he need to be but frankly I'd like for him to rest up because when Congress comes back "Give em Hell Barry!!" We need him to get in the trenches and fight for the people who elected him as long as he does that he will have his job into 2016.

It's a shame CNN didn't clearly post the vacation numbers to make comparisons easy. Bush had WAY more vacation days by this time in his presidency, as in three times or more. Reagan had almost twice as many vacations as Obama at this time. Only Clinton had fewer. This has been a public service to educate GOBPbaggers everywhere.

All Presidents are entitled to their vacation time.
Just because The Shrub abused this does not mean that Obama should not take a well-deserved vaca.
Enjoy Mr. President. Decompress, relax, play golf, and surround yourself with family and friends.

I have no problem with the President's vacation.
But when he attacks rich people or people who go to Las Vegas and then he goes to vacation it makes him a hypocrite.

Obama will get more done in his short vacation the the entire congress will in five weeks, it is well known he is a hard worker and always available. The Republican Flash Mob will be out there lying in every state while President Obama takes a little break with his beautiful family.

It is hard to comment. He is paying in rental more than I make in a year, plus he and the missus went in separate taxpayer paid planes and I cannot get a vacation. I have to work to pay an ever increasing level of taxes and fees brought on by this inept, incompetent president and watch my savings (I am considered rich by Obama because I took peronal responsiblity for my life and actually work and pay taxes) erode away. I reflect that I may have been better off hanging posters on telephone poles for a corrupt union like the SEIU, like our president, than trying to make an honest living. He loves and protects the drug addicts and the illegal immingrants. But then I have ethics and morals unlike democrat liberals.

Well, the President can rest easy now, the great Defender of all that is Tea Party, warts and all, has stated that they
"don't see anything wrong with Obama taking a vacation now". How generous of you. Now tell me how much
"quality time" our illustrious Congress has already had with their families during their one month vacations. Quite a
time-off calendar Eric Cantor set up for "his people". When you view the world through only tea-stained glasses,
your vision becomes blurred, your arguments become repetitive, and your lack of knoweldge hangs out there like a
    used tea bag.

Is it only this President who isn't allowed a vacation, a birthday party or a game of golf. It didn't seem to be an issue with any of the previous Presidents, you have to ask yourself why. Obama has taken 61 days vacation at this point in his term, as opposed to Regan's 112, Bush's 120 days and Clinton's 28. I can't imagine that anyone on the right can complain, when their heros took twice as much as this President has. Of course the right is filled with hypocrites, so I'm sure we'll still hear from them. They're just not smart enough to keep their mouths shut.

Even IF he is not re-elected in 2012 (and I doubt that will be the case) HE WILL STILL BE ABLE TO TAKE VACATIONS. Get it. He will still be ABLE TO TAKE VACATIONS and where will the rest of you be? Still STUCK in your situations and unable to face reality. So get over it. Having said that – I'm glad our president has decided to IGNORE those of you and the media who want to slam him for taking a vacation. He is the president and does not have the luxury of passing his work over to someone else in his absence. It seems a lot of people feel just as I do. Look at the crowds. These people are intelligent and understand he has children and a wife and that he DOES NOT have to be at the WH all the time to get things accomplished. For those of you who will find any reason to criticize – go ahead. I'm sure he has something planned to shut all of your mouths up. Just like he did when he CAPTURED Bin Laden.

    Enjoy your vaction, First Family.

The only good thing I can see to come out of Obambi's presidency is it has elevated Jimmy Carter & James Buchannan to the Second & Third worse presidency in the history of the U.S......No one can be worse than Barrack Hussein Obama!

    @Hammerer -

It's not two years of Obama we're recovering from. It's the previous eight. You wanna know what the consequences of voting republican are? This is it – a Democrat left to clean it up. If it's not fast enough for you, don't vote republican.

  24. Country Above Parties

Do GOP and Teabaggers have an ounce of shame? Logic absolutely defied their reasoning. Bush and Regan took more than twice as much vacation as Obama up to this point in their presidency. Next they will complain that Obama is spending too mcuh time in his bedroom with Michelle.

It's not as if the Obamas get off a plane, check into a hotel, and have 2 weeks of uninterrupted fun in the sun. No sitting President ever takes a vacation. It's simply a matter of moving locations for a man who is never "off the clock". Obama has taken less vacation time than any President in recent history (Reagan to date). I daresay we won't see any photos of him flying over an American city decimated and helpless from a hurricane. Flying home from vacation, no less.
