July fundraising numbers say a lot, RNC and DNC say little

(CNN)—The Republican National Committee boasted a fundraising haul of over $6 million Saturday, but didn’t disclose any details.

The GOP committee reported raising “over $6 million in July,” in a statement that highlighted Chairman Reince Priebus’ contributions to the organization since assuming leadership in January.

Perry's global warming position hurts GOP, Huntsman says

Rock Hill, South Carolina (CNN) –Presidential candidate Rick Perry stood by his belief Saturday that manmade global warming is an unproven scientific theory while another White House contender is warning that the mindset puts the Republican Party in a "losing position" in 2012.

Former Utah governor and U.S. Ambassador to China Jon Huntsman, who is trailing top tier candidates in most national polls, openly criticized Perry's position on Twitter this week. He stressed the potential impact on the party in a taped interview that airs Sunday.

Huntsman loses advance man

(CNN) - Former Utah Gov. Jon Huntsman lost another member of his presidential campaign team Friday when Lanny Wiles handed in his letter of resignation.

Wiles, who served as John McCain’s advance man during his 2008 presidential bid, also handled advance for Huntsman.

Obama balances jobs and fun on vacation

Vineyard Haven, Massachusetts (CNN)–A senior administration official said President Obama and his top economic advisers are “making progress” in constructing the jobs plan that he’s expected to roll out after Labor Day.

The official said it’s still a work in progress, with top aides “crunching numbers” and “weighing options.” “This is something that they will continue working on all next week,” the official said.

The president taped his weekly address from Alpha, Illinois-a town he visited during a three-day bus tour through the region used to engage small town citizens in dialogue about jobs and the economy.

Perry picks up South Carolina endorsements

Greenville, South Carolina (CNN) – Rick Perry received his most significant endorsements Saturday in South Carolina since jumping into the race for the White House one week ago.

Former U.S Ambassador to Canada David Wilkins will join the Texas governor at a campaign stop at Tommy's Country Ham House in Wilkins' hometown of Greenville, said Katon Dawson, former South Carolina GOP chairman who is leading Perry's campaign efforts in the state.
