Rove's Palin prediction

(CNN) – Karl Rove predicted Sunday that former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin is likely to run for president and will make her decision known soon.

Rove, the former top political adviser to President George W. Bush and co-founder of American Crossroads, a conservative political action committee, said Palin's upcoming trip to Iowa and recent web video are evidence she is gearing up for a run.

"I'm not much of a gambler, but I'd put a little more money that she gets in than if she doesn't," Rove told "Fox News Sunday."

If Palin, who was the vice presidential candidate on the 2008 Republican ticket, doesn't make a decision shortly, people will assume she is not running and withhold their support, Rove said.

"You can only tease so many times in the political process, and I think she is getting to the end of that," Rove said.

Palin has flirted with a White House bid for months, even launching a bus tour in early presidential contest states.

Most recently, she attended the Iowa State Fair on the same weekend as the high stakes Ames Straw Poll. The video her political action committee released Friday showcased her trip to the first-in-the-nation caucus state.

Palin returns to Iowa to address a tea party group on September 3rd.

So, if Palin gets in, she splits the Tea Party & "Mama Grizzley" vote with Bachmann (and any other candidate pandering to those right-wing nuts jobs). Meanwhile, Romney has to duke it out with Huntsman until he drops out. Perry has the cowboy vote to himself. And Ron Paul has the libertarian nut-job vote to himself. Should be fun to watch.

Palin actually sat in the governor's chair, what – maybe a couple of months before she messed everything up and racked up hundreds of ethics charges, before she finally decided to quit not even half way into her first term? What's the rest of her background? It took her 6 years in 5 different colleges to get and UNDERGRAD in Communications. Not that is not surprising....About as not surprising as Rick Perry carrying an iffy 'D' average in getting his undergrad in Animal Sciences. Both of these people – JOKES, pure JOKES!

WOW...Big brainer for Rove huh? Everyone's suspected Palin was running for months. Slow news day I guess.

I agree with Tom. The title "Governor" is an honorific that is appropriate for someone who honorably completed a term as governor of a state. She didn't.

She needs a day job and that seems to be as good a reason as any other right-wing nut seems to have to run for president.

If she's smart she will wait until the last minute to announce her running. That way she won't have time to stick her foot in her mouth and there won't be time for people to realize she is all smoke and mirrors. Right now she's keeping the mystery and anticipation there. But her handlers know she is best kept OUT of the spotlight.

Here's the part of the prediction Karl didn't provide.....If she does run, it will only be to light a spark under the butts of her followers who have moved on to the NEXT BIG DUMB THING. Palin's run for president will purely be designed for ego gratification, book sales, movie ticket sales, and anything else connected to her bank account. Then, after growing weary of the actual work it takes to run for president (let alone govern a state with fewer people than Nashville), she will suspend yet another bus tour, declare herself THE UNDEFEATED again, withdraw from the campaign, "write" another book, and laugh all the way to the bank, as her gullible audience stuffs her pockets again. Only in America baby.....

She won't run. She didn't like having an actual job and actual responsibilities. She has found what she likes... being a presumed candidate or simply a pseudo-political celebrity. It has no real responsibilities, no tough decisions, no voters to think about, and a whole heck of a lot more money.

I have never understood why Sarah Palin is such a lightning rod for such raw hatred. There is no accounting for carisma. When Bill Clinton commits adultry and lies about it under oath and on national television, people rushed to his defense in droves. Unfortunately, there is no accounting for its opposite either. No matter what poor Sarah does or says, people rush to attack her in droves. But any fire she draws will not be directed at Romney or Perry. So, if she does run, she may serve the role of a false target.

Reading these comments tells me that the "lame stream" media did their job well....they destroyed Sarah Palin and convinced the rest of you to do the same. Repeating their "talking points" is all you can do. Wise up! She can beat Obaha if you'd think for yourselves and realize she tops all the candidates.

Never mistake popularity for votes, Sarah Palin and Kim Kardashian may be able to get a crowd going but no one is going to actually vote for them to have the highest job in the land. Palin is a celebrity with some fans but not many would put their future at risk by voting for her, just wont happen.

God I hope so. If either she or Rep Bachmann win we'll have a Democratic President for another 4 years. OR, if they should win the day then the people who voted for them will get what they deserve and the rest of us will sadly suffer along with them.

What is true in the macrocosmic sense is also true in the microcosmic sense here: On the greater level, she's a vapid waste of flesh displacing valuable air that the rest of us could be breathing...and on th elesser level, her entry into the GOP priary would suck oxygen away from the other candidates, particularly the two or three with much better chances of beating Obama when it comes to the general election. She's going to anger alot of people if she gets on her high horse and rides into the primary pretending to be the savior of what is already a frantic, feeble, fumbling effort to offer someone who can be considered even remotely legitimate and possessing the intelligence, thoughtfulness, non-ideological problem solving skill, focus on helping the middle-class instead of corporations and the rich, etc., that will be necessary to beat Obama. She's a latent disaster for them just waiting to happen and I hope she suffocates the GOP lineup when she jumps in for her own benefit.

There are NUMEROUS reasons why it is in Sarah's best interest to make it look like she's running, not the least of which is to elevate her brand to garner larger advances in book deals and greater pay in her job at FOX News. I seriously doubt that she will run for president.

  21. Rove? Really?

Karl Rover said he's not "much of a gambler?" Wish he would have said that before Bush sent US troops to Iraq. Nice of him to gamble the lives and well being of our soldiers for the non-existent weapons of mass destruction (tell me, Rove, did you have investments in Halliburton?), but too scared to gamble whether or not Sarah Palin will run for president (I hope she does though...it'll be a fun campaign!).

Oh please...quit the drama, betting odds, and bold predictions. Of course she is running...she will always be running. You would have to be a profound idiot to think otherwise. Palin is a slop hog for attention. It was never a question about whether she would run. She tried to create drama and build up leading in to her announcement but it flopped because most of us knew it from the beginning. She may have some of you folled....she does not have most of us fooled. And now with Perry in the race, Bachmann, Romney......she will get in now. I predict by end of week.

Surely Palin has at least ONE smart aide who didn't fail 6th grade math and can read poll numbers that show she would get completely obliterated in a general election matchup vs. Obama.

I say, if she does run, and happens to get the nomination, then any state she wins in the general election should automatically be forced to secede and form a new country known as the United States of Stupid.
