Buffett to host high-profile fundraiser for Obama

NEW YORK (CNNMoney) - Warren Buffett will host a fundraiser for President Obama next month in New York City, the Berkshire Hathaway CEO told CNNMoney on Thursday.

With the 2012 election season just around the corner, the campaign to put Obama back in the White House for a second term is well underway - and it's not unusual for the campaign to boost the president's drawing power by allowing him to share the stage with a well known benefactor.

Oh, this should bring in about another 30 million, which would put him right on schedule to hit $1B.
(Just trying to stoke the conservative ire. They're really dumb when angry.)

Where else should the millionaires put their money! GOP doesn't allow them to pay higher tax while they are willing to do so.

Huh, this most successful investor must think the President is on the right track...... what a punch in the gut to CONServatives to have the Oracle backing the guy THEY say is killing our economy.
I would believe Mr Buffett's opinion, not so much the Republicans.

Mr. Obama, keep on hanging with Buffet becasue he will give you money, Obama, since 100 CEO's will not be giving you any. I wonder if they will share proceeds of the fund raised to poor people in America as Obama had preached SPREADING WEALTH.. Oww, it is only SPREADING WEALTH FOR HIS OWN benefit, ELECTION TIME!

"Oh, this should bring in about another 30 million.."

You think so Rudy? I guess you didn't read the full story – where the base price is $10,000. Do you really think there are that many people running around with a spare $10,000 to throw around? Well, except those that actually control these useless puppets that we call "elected officials."

I'm really surprised by Mr. Buffett's decision, I would have thought he would go the route that some CEO's have and not contribute any money; especially since him and others have been coddled long enough by a billionaire friendly congress already. I guess he's just returning the favor though.

  7. Thin skin.........?

Speaking of thin-skin...whenever Pres Obama was confronted with his thin skin he came out with one of his
thick skin speeches...making America believe that this man is smart and a leader...Well, America knows you now..?
"is he or isn't he" all the hope and change Obama preached...? All the money in the world won't buy Obama another
    4-years in the White House....!!!

    Here`s favorite "Conservative" refrain:

We are all for tax reform. We support eliminating deductions & loopholes, lowering tax rates, BROADENING THE BASE, thereby bringing in MORE revenue.

I have an MBA from Columbia and even I`m not sure what they mean when they say this. "BROADENING THE BASE" sure sounds like Republicanese for: tomorrow we will tax lower income people that don`t get taxed today.

Republicans have a great "svengali" line with "lower tax rates" – – my God, how could anybody be against that?!

Well, we see what tax cuts with borrowed Chinese money gets us, don`t we? Fed Chairman Greenspan has pointed out that folly.

Watch the GOP like a hawk WHENEVER they want to monkey with taxes. I suspect they are planning yet another redistribution of wealth from the middle class to the rich when they talk about "broadening the base".

  10. Democrat Class Warfare - Destroying the economy, destroying the country

Isn't it all makinbg sense now? Buffett supports Obama with his money, Obama awards him one of nations highest honors (price is negotiable), Buffett backs up Obama on his class warfare tactics and raises money for him. Makes you wonder what else ol' Buffett is getting on the side for his efforts. How is this any different than lobbists buying influence? Answer: It is NOT. Sleazy, sleazy, sleazy...Poltics For Sale to the highest bidder. Obama is just as corrupt as everybody else.

I'll take a Buffet over a Koch any day, at least with Buffet you know your water won't be poisoned, The Koch's are the sole driver of ridding this country of the EPA, and this is where you get the whole "government out of the way" mantra from the GOP.

@Lynda/Minnesota who previously wrote in part in reference to “American female politicos top power list”
“[Just when you think you've read it all, an article such as this jumps up and hits you in the face. While the results are meaningless to me personally, the story behind the story IS noteworthy. Kudos to CNN for it's blatant hypocrisy in trying to promote one political party over the other while choosing to leave out entirely our First Lady…”]
Michelle Obama came in #8 – “Lady Gaga” even beat the three women shown in the above mentioned Ticker. You are right Lynda – it all boils down to the media setting the stage for a CAT FIGHT rather than tell REAL stories that are true to heart and offer positive uplifting… Shame on CNN!!!

Michelle Obama – you are a classy lady and in my opinion, top everyone listed in this “Forbes’ Most Powerful Women” list!!!

@Rudy NYC – You are right – but at least we know where the money is coming from – unlike those from the other side whose donors are unknown!!! This also will be "in your face" to the Republicans...I know they are "gritting their teeth" with envy.

Obama/Biden 2012 – including our "classy" Michelle Obama!!!

  18. Democrat Class Warfare - Destroying the economy, destroying the country

I wonder if the New York Times knew Buffett was on the Obama re-election staff when they published his op-ed about taxing the rich in suppoirt of Obama??? Of course they did. Looks like the Lame Street Media is up to the same game they played in 2008. The packaging and sale of Obama. Problem is the American people have test driven this Obama Edsel and are NOT impressed with the results. Time to elect somebody that actually knows something about our economic system and that doesn't attack and demonize every business in sight.

I dont care how much money Obama camp raises. The GOP contenders are all weak or outright crazy. We are in serious trouble if any of the teapublicans win the presidency. Big time trouble.

You might to think about getting about getting out of NYC before Irene hits. The sight of Liberals sitting on their rooftops waiting to be rescued is not a pretty sight. And I am sure you will blame Bush for it.
