NEW YORK (CNNMoney) – Warren Buffett will host a fundraiser for President Obama next month in New York City, the Berkshire Hathaway CEO told CNNMoney on Thursday.
With the 2012 election season just around the corner, the campaign to put Obama back in the White House for a second term is well underway - and it's not unusual for the campaign to boost the president's drawing power by allowing him to share the stage with a well known benefactor.

I'm really surprised by Mr. Buffett's decision, I would have thought he would go the route that some CEO's have and not contribute any money; especially since him and others have been coddled long enough by a billionaire friendly congress already. I guess he's just returning the favor though.

I have an MBA from Columbia and even I`m not sure what they mean when they say this. "BROADENING THE BASE" sure sounds like Republicanese for: tomorrow we will tax lower income people that don`t get taxed today.
Republicans have a great "svengali" line with "lower tax rates" – - my God, how could anybody be against that?!
Well, we see what tax cuts with borrowed Chinese money gets us, don`t we? Fed Chairman Greenspan has pointed out that folly.
Watch the GOP like a hawk WHENEVER they want to monkey with taxes. I suspect they are planning yet another redistribution of wealth from the middle class to the rich when they talk about "broadening the base".

I wonder if the New York Times knew Buffett was on the Obama re-election staff when they published his op-ed about taxing the rich in suppoirt of Obama??? Of course they did.
