Rep. Joe Wilson released from hospital

(CNN) – South Carolina Rep. Joe Wilson was released from the hospital Saturday after being treated five days for an extended fever and "chronic viral-type infection," according to information released by his staff.

Last week, when Wilson's office announced that a series of appearances in his district would be rescheduled, they initially attributed his illness "to his recent possible contraction of Lyme disease."

Speaking to Kevin Cohen's radio show from his Lexington Medical Center hospital room Friday evening, the Republican congressman said, "Initially I thought it was due to a tick bite in the yard – I love working in the yard – but that wasn't it."

What Wilson thought was a tick bite turned out to be a little rash. He said he started feeling ill two weeks ago after spending a lot of time in the sun, first at the Pelion Peanut Party with his grandsons followed by a funeral in Orangeburg.

"I just thought that being in the sun all morning that I'd gotten overheated. But then I realized I had a fever, it's a low grade fever, and then I went to our family doctor," Wilson said on WVOC-560 AM.

Wilson was admitted to the West Columbia hospital last Monday and started undergoing a battery of tests to diagnose the infection that led to the fever.

"I'm learning things that hopefully will be helpful for other people. That is, it is not unusual to not be able to identify what the problem is and that after a period of time it will simply go away," Wilson said.

Wilson, a conservative Republican, is perhaps best known for shouting "You lie!" at President Barack Obama as the latter addressed a joint session of Congress in 2009. Wilson later apologized and was formally admonished by the House of Representatives.

W. Eric Dell, Wilson's chief of staff and counsel, said the congresman was released from the hospital in the early afternoon Saturday and is feeling better.

Wilson said on the radio show he anticipates a speedy recovery and is looking forward to his annual district bus tour rescheduled for September 26-30th. "I truly enjoy fulfilling the pledge I made to be accountable and accessible," he said.

Glad to have you back keep finding all the lies Obama continues to tell like his father served in WWII that would have made his father 10 years old when the war ended.

Keep up the good work and you will get my vote.

Remember term limits, balanced budget, and no retirement programs unless it's a 401K like all the rest of us have to get buy on.

The doctor asked Joe if he'd recently had sex with a prostitute and when Joe said "no" the doctor yelled, "You lie!"

Congressman Wilson, "it" wont just go away! Or it may for a while, but if you have Lyme Disease like your symptoms suggest, it will be back with a vengance. PLEASE consider saving your life by watching "UNDER OUR SKIN" free at hulu.com this month.
It is too soon for antibodies to show up on the Western Blot Test. The test is very unreliable. You really need to treat at least a month or more of antibiotics and treat the coinfections through a LLMD (Lyme Literate).

Congressman Wilson I'm glad you are feeling better, but I assure you "it" will not go away! If you have Lyme Disease, as your symptoms strongly suggest, it will be back with a vengence, if not treated properly now. PLEASE watch "Under Our Skin" free this month on hulu.com. It could save your life! It's too early for antibodies to show on the Western Blot. You need to be retested and seek a Lyme Literate Doctor right away! Dont let the uneducated medical powers throw your life away too! There are thousands of us out here.. 19 years for me without treatment, because of misdiagnosis.

I apologize, but I cannot find pity for this sad little man. However, I do hope he gets better. I also hope he is rethinking his behavior and learned something useful from his deplorable behavior toward the POTUS on national television, no less.

Lest we forget, there was another Joe Wilson whose wife (CIA operative Valerie Plane) was outed by the Bush Administration because he dared to question the lead-in (excuse) for war with Iraq. Perhaps Congressman Wilson was also made ill by "yellow cake" (or lack thereof).

Maybe being out in the sun too long is the reason he is such a Republican liar. Of course, they all are so I guess that isn't the reason!

  20. Down with hypocrisy

Hey, "New Age Independent," if you're so independent, how come you didn't condemn "Ed's" nasty comment about Obama? Hypocrite. And what's that about "liberal comments?" Only one such comment could be interpreted that way. Can you not count? Did your school not teach you about plurals? What's the problem?

Ed, his GRANDfather served in WWII, not his father.

    >>"I'm learning things that hopefully will be helpful for other people. That is, it is not unusual to not be able to identify what the problem is and that after a period of time it will simply go away," Wilson said. <<

Sheesh. Notice how this rich congressperson immediately runs and checks himself into the hospital as soon as he gets a fever? How many regular people would do that, when they know it would cost them a few thousand bucks. We would at least wait a while and see if it got better or worse, then if necessary visit a regular doctor at the office.
