BLITZER'S BLOG: Romney & Perry go after Obama on national security

(CNN) - The economy will be issue No. 1 in the presidential contest. But national security will be important, as well, and we just got a preview of the political debate that will unfold between President Obama and his Republican challenger – whoever that will be.

Texas Gov. Rick Perry, the front-runner for the GOP nomination according to our latest CNN/ORC International poll, didn’t mention Obama by name, but his target was clear when he addressed the Veterans of Foreign Wars convention Monday in San Antonio, Texas.

That's too funny! Obama has done more to bolster our National Security in the last 6mos, than Bush/Cheney did in 8 years. Romney and Perry have not demonstrated they have a clue about what to do.

These cut and slash TEApublicans can criticize the Commander In Chief all they want, but what are they doing to support the families of our wounded heroes. I don't see any of them at Dover AFB carrying caskets off of planes. I don't see any of them at Walter Reed consoling our troops. What have they done to assist military families? They're all just a bunch of talk. BLAH BLAH BLAH!

"When a president sends our men and women into harm's way, he must first explain their mission, define its success, plan for their victorious exit, provide them with the best weapons and armor in the world and properly care for them when they come home," Romney said. "Anything less is not befitting a great nation."

Yeah, well, Bush did all of that stuff and then some. He even had a well planned victorious exit. In case you missed it, it was called "MIssion Accomplished". We already know what the Republican war monger mind set is Governer. It is a fantasy world. Did you forget that your party rejects facts? Thank you for reminding us.

Romeny and Perry are complaining just to complain. I don't see either candidate strong enough leader to lead a group of dog catchers in an amusement park let alone our brave Men and Women in uniform. I don't see how either could have caught bin Laden or lead much better than Bush/Chaney which was pretty awful.

Good luck with that you two. Who got Osama bin Laden? Who helped to liberate Libya for very little money (and no soldiers)?
Now, for extra points: Who got the U.S. caught up in two endless, pointless wars, causing 6,000 American deaths, and perhaps hundreds of thousands of innocent Iraqis?

    Yup- you guys loose (Again!).

The US has no security, as long as the Mexican border remains an open illegal crossing.

Let's see, who got Bin Laden? Oh that's right, it was Dubya Bush. The GOP loses the argument when it comes to who is stronger on national security. Try something else guys.

There's a difference between chest-thumping bully-type shoot-from-the-hip tough-guy rhetoric and tactics that make you FEEL safer and thoughtful, deliberately planned, coalition-building strategies that actually accomplish it. If you need a rifle and a blanky to hide under, then elect one of these two muttonheaded goons. If you want an international community standing behind us helping us try to build bridges and generate actual lasting progress, then elect Obama. It's that freekin simple.

I hate to be the one to rain on the media parade, but no matter who runs against President Obama, it just isn't going to bring in the huge viewership ratings that Hillary vs Obama brought in during the 2008 campaign. Dress 'em up as you will CNN - the GOPer candidates are what they are: a group of unexciting, lackadaisical fools, spewing political nonsense for the benefit of the very few. Fact is most voters have probably already made up their minds one way or another - no matter who actually becomes the republican nominee.

President Obama has taken the whole foriegn policy line of attack off the table. These two would be wise to concede that to him.

The whole . . . "Democrats are soft", "Democrats are weak" and "Bush & Cheney kept us safe [ehem - after they didn't]" lines of attack have been obliterated by Obama and most thinking Americans realize that.

Romney & Perry are praying – I'll bet – to their respective gods that America is hit by another terrorist attack on/around the anniversary of 9-11. In their twisted, sick, DeMinted minds, that would help contribute to the GOP mission for the President to fail.

Mr. President, you've got my support.

GTFOOH morons! You ought to be ashamed of yourselves for the way you are carrying on against this man with nothing but an arsenal full of discomfiting lies intended to keep your uniformed voters shaking in fear while you scam their votes, ship their jobs overseas, and destroy what is left of our economy.

SHAMELESS TRAITORS, SECESSIONISTS AND HUCKSTERS VYING FOR THE PRESIDENCY OF OUR NATION.
    BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!

    Obama 2012. Get serious America.

The most consistent threat to the US are 293 active American Al Queda supporters, who can be precisely named and should be investigated by the US Justice Department for treason, as defined by Article III of the US Constitution, in that they give the enemies of the US aid and/or comfort. The announced strategy and much practiced tactics of these American supporters have been to (1) obstruct all effective government and (2) cripple the nation’s economy-exactly the actions most helpful at this time to the new leadership of the recently disrupted Al Queda.

These 293 supporters, who can easily be found in Washington, are the Republican members of the US Congress.

These mental midgets in comparison to President Obama are laughing ALL THE WAY TO THE BANK at your gullibility America! How are you liking those apples? They spit in your ignorant face brazenly while cutting more deals to ship more jobs overseas (what the hell was Riomney doing campaigning ABROAD again?!?). They are writing books and pitching them on the trail while you line up at the unemployment office. They thrive off of denying this President the fact that he's kept us safer than we've been before, and they enjoy your FEAR.
    How long America?
How long will you let yourselves be duped by these people?
Haven't we been there and done this already with Shrub & Cheney?
    MOVE FORWARD AMERICA!!
    FEAR NOT, MOVE FORWARD!!!!!

This would be funny if it wasn't so sad. Under which president did 9/11 occur?

So far (thank God) we have not been attacked on our soil. OBL was KILLED, the pirate hostage crisis ended as it should have and Libya was handled without American lives being lost. These leeches are truly embarrassing. Neither of which have ANY foreign relations experience whatsoever and yet they want to offer advice? Romney of all people is speaking about the military when his sons thrive off the deaths of others for their riches and freedoms. If the American people are stupid enough to elect either one of them – then you get what you deserve.
