(CNN) – Rick Perry's GOP presidential campaign blasted as "blatantly false" a new ad put up in South Carolina by a pro-Michele Bachmann "superPAC," in a press release Thursday.
The Texas governor's campaign said the ad misrepresents the governor's fiscally conservative record in his state. Veteran political operative Bob Harris is behind the 30-second spot through "Keep Conservatives United," the so-called "super PAC" he founded in July in support of (but independent from) Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann's run for the GOP nomination.
The commercial, much like the group's first web video, takes aim at Perry over his Lone Star state record.
"Rick Perry's spending more money than the state takes in, covering his deficits with record borrowing. And he's supposed to be the tea party guy?" the spot says. "There is an honest conservative, and she's not Rick Perry."
The Perry campaign released a statement Thursday afternoon that broke down the ad and refuted its premise, saying the Texas governor has signed six balanced budgets and created jobs.
"Congresswoman Bachmann's front-group ad is patently and provably false," said Ray Sullivan, Perry's communications director. "Unlike Washington, the Texas budget is balanced, does not run deficits and limits spending, even as Texas added jobs and population in big numbers."
Harris has not provided the size of the ad buy but originally indicated he had bought local time in Columbia to run on CNBC, Fox News and CNN for a week. He said the size of the buy would eventually be disclosed in a "Keep Conservatives United" FEC report required of a super PAC.
– CNN's Candy Crowley and Shawna Shepherd contributed to this report.

Don't believe Perry. He will say, and twist, and decieve anyone to get his way. I'm a Texan and I have NEVER liked him as our Governor, and I was a strict Republican until the last Governor election when I voted for Bill White. Perry has not been the great jobs person he says he is. He is riding on the fact that oil and medical in Texas have been doing well for a long time and will continue to no matter who is Governor. By the way, does Perry say anything about Texas leading the country in outsourced jobs to foreign countries?
Perry balanced part of his budget using "Stimulus" funds. Yes THAT Stimulus. He should at least have the common decency to send President Obama a thank you note for helping to bail him out.
Perry has a $27B budget shortfall now and only balanced last year's budget with over $6B of stimulus funds, part of $25B he grabbed from the federal government while blasting stimulus funds as wasteful. Of course, Bachmann is just plain batsh*t crazy. The dialogue between these two flat earthers can only get better in terms of entertainment.
this idiot never becomes any closer to POTUS, Sooner he gets into it, he will make Texas as a nation by itself. Pathetic idiot. with no brain......
How is the add "blatantly false" Rick? The ad is accurate. Perry is a Perry is a career politician and total flip flopper. Texas went from surplus to approx $27B in debt during his time in office. As Gov of Texas he has taken stimulus money for a variety of projects while criticizing President Obama's stimulus package. He continues to borrow money from The Federal Government & still criticizes the Feds for spending the money Texas is borrowing. You can't run from it Rick! As Repub Congressman Joe WIlson said "you lie."
I don't know if this is news worthy. By the time the primaries are over, all skeletons and false claims will have been exposed, and it won't be pretty. The last man standing will be punch drunk and hardly able to mount a viable campaign. A little talk about policies and programs- now that would be news!- and I don't mean $2 gas!

-------------
He signed "six balanced budgets", but he's been Governer of Texas for more than six years. Seems like there some truth behind the Bachmann ads that Perry wants to deny. I still say Perry is cutting and running on his state's current $20B+ deficit and running for President. Perry has no one but himself to blame for the deficit, too. His increased jobs should have meant more state revenue through sales taxes, which means a large deficit is inexplicable.
Hey Ricky -
Where's your jobs plan? Jon Hunstman is talking about his [even though it's just a tax reform plan not a jobs plan]. Willard (Mitts) is talkin' bout his [also a tax reform plan designed to shift the burdent away from the rich and onto the middle class. Even Buddy Roomer has one. Ricky, where is yours – - and how about you Michele?
How did unemployment fair in Texas? I'm sure if the media plots jobs in Texas over the past 4 years and going forward for the next 12 months, we'll see that your Texas Miracle is really a mirage. You got the benefit of the stimulus spending and government jobs at Ft. Hood to help you but NOW we're watching closely. What are you going to do to demonstrate you can solve America's jobs crisis. The world is not one big oil field, you know?
How can the Texas budget be balance unless they borrowed from next year, there is a 21 billion dollars short fall for next year.
Rick Perry like many Republican Governors are balancing their budgets on the backs of our children by packing our children in classrooms like they're sardines and firing teachers, it's disgraceful. But Perry found millions to rebuild the Governor's mansion and while that's being done Texas taxpayers are footing the bill for he, his wife, cooks, housekeepers, etc. live rent free in another luxury home while he's not paying one cent. If you think Rick Perry is good for your children, then good luck, Perry is all about Perry and the rich.
Unsheath the knives, Michele – inflict as much damage as possible...............
Advertisement and paper need not lie, idiot...Pathetic idiot....Texas is having 28 billion dollar shortfall....with idiot....o.k, All minimum wage jobs, without Health Insurance. o.k,
Keep telling the truth about that Rick Perry, Bachmann good job. Also, Parry should stay in Texas with all those wildfires,
signed Romney!
Round one !!!
A GOP candidate who suggests Texas secede from the Union blasts a fellow GOP candidate who obeys husband who wants to cure gays. It just don't get no better than this!! (Or maybe it will!)
Great, the battle of the Luddites, duking it out to see which one can prove THEY think the world is flatter. I hope they both dry up and blow away in the wind.
..........I love it LET THE repuks/KKKers/teabeggers mudsling-fest begin........................hate to tell ya'll but each and everyone of em are as FAKE as that dumb-chick's face and nails (Bachmann).
Rick Perry / Sarah Palin 2012
Dancing with the stars / Pardon Tom Delay !
Straight form Perry Election Central in TX: Anything anybody says bad against P.Rick Perry is a lyin' socialist commie – And we can prove it!
Where are the details the prove that Perry is borrowing lots of money to run Texas state government? Any politifact review of the ad yet? I'd like to see that.
What's funny about all the republican presidential nominees is that they all are lobbying for the Tea party's approval and claim to be conservative and against government spending. Each of them have had their hands out to the government and taken either bailout funds or medical payments from the government in the form of "healing" gays. I smell hypocrites a mile away.
To the GOP/TP: Where are the adults? We need real candidates. Not these fools.
So they fight amongst themselves, and tell you just how crap the other person is and then once the party finally decides on who they want to represent them, they will then all come out and tell you just how great in fact that person is.
This ad proves that the PAC and Bachman are concerned that Perry is stealing their thunder AND actually has executive experience. They are scared!
Texas's budget is balanced by all the money it receives from the federal government. Now if we could just find someone to give the federal government all the money it wanted, its budget would be balanced too. Now where can we find someone dumb enough to give the federal government all the money it wants? Hey Perry got any ideas.
