Obama visits storm-battered New Jersey

Paterson, New Jersey (CNN) - President Barack Obama reviewed damage inflicted by Hurricane Irene in northern New Jersey on Sunday, promising residents, "We'll be there to help."

Obama visited the towns of Paterson and Wayne, where residents showed the high-water marks from the flooding spawned by last week's hurricane. The Passaic River and one of its tributaries, the Pompton, overflowed their banks through the area after Irene dumped heavy rains across the Northeast.

I have family that live there and are very happy he is coming. They also stated they were happy with the way Chris Christie is handling this emergency....it is the rest of his policies that are going to hurt the state.

Chriis Christie is seeing the light he very well know now that there are times we need government and he is going to be the Republicans worst nightmare because he needs help from President Obama for his State.

The people there should remember to go to the polls and vote during the next election and that will help solve some of the policies that are unfair.

President Obama is trying to do the best that he can but he can't do it alone Congress needs to step in and help and stop saying NO.

All of you are in my prayers.

I am from New Jersey and the total damages are around $10 Billion Dollars. My question is how is FEMA going to get $9.2 Billion Dollars from? They only have $800 Million on hand? Why hasn't nobody been following up with this? People in Vermont are still stuck because all our troops and helicopters are in Afghanistan! Why can't we spend that $2 Billion Dollars in Libya (Which is Undeclared and Unconstitutional War) and send them to those who need it the most here?

    Wake up America!
