Bachmann: Don't pass Obama's plan

(CNN) - Minnesota Rep. Michele Bachmann said she felt "deeply disappointed" by the president's jobs speech Thursday and called on Congress to avoid passing his plan.

"Clearly what we saw was just a sequel of all of the failed policies that the president has put forward in the past," Bachmann said in a post-debate speech.

While Republicans typically deliver a party response whenever the president addresses a joint session of Congress, the GOP passed on an address Thursday, giving no official reason for the move.

But Bachmann, who said she listened to the speech in the car while stuck in traffic, gave her own response in the House gallery in the Capitol Thursday.

She said she was offended by President Barack Obama's opening remarks asking Congress to "stop the political circus" and do something to help the economy.

Specifically, she blasted the president's plan to prolong unemployment benefits, calling them poor incentives for people to get jobs.

"Not only should Congress not pass this plan," Bachmann said. "I say, 'Mr. President, stop. Your last plan hasn't worked, and it's hurting the American economy'."

The GOP presidential candidate laid out her own nine-point plan, which included measures such as repealing Obama's health care reform, repealing financial regulation reform, and increasing exports.

She called the president's policies acts of "generational theft" that take money from future generations.

"The president has embraced solutions that are temporary gimmicks," Bachmann said. "They come and they go. That's what we saw tonight in the president's remarks."

what is funny to me is this is a person who says she can bring back $2 gas all by herself. then she said because we have no interest in Libya we should have let 1 million people be slaughtered??? Now she has a 9 point plan, what she plagerized Herman Cain cause she had nothing to say at debate.....

I think Michelle should get off her 1 term president kick and actually look after the American Public she says she represents. I have heard nothing out of her mouth except criticism of others trying to get people back to work. I'm glad she is failing in her bid for the presidency, she would undoubtedly destroy our nation as her agenda is only political and not productive. I'd like to see her as a one term Congresswoman.

How can she make a statement like that without looking at the bill herself? She wasn't even in the chamber...

The president's plan will fail. The GOP will make sure of that. Isn't that their stated purpose?

Enough with the negative attitude. Get out of the way and allow progress.

Michelle buchman does not want the president to succeed. She wants him to fail so it will be easier to replace him. She does not really care enough about the couintry. She wants the political circus to continue, because it keeps her in the news.

I listened to her speech, her heart and soul just wasn't there. I could of read this speech that someone else wrote, just as she did.

Why is it that Republicans always want to repeal regulation reforms? Seems odd.

Of course she says it will fail. Why should her negativity surprise anyone?

And your promise of $2 gas will fail too! Instead of keeping up the political circus Michelle, Don't you think it is time for the republicans and democrats to work together for the good of the American People. People are seriously hurting and this country needs for congress to do it's job! Obama Biden 2012

of course it will fail! There are no reason to create jobs because no one has money for goods and services. Her plan, which she doesn't understand, is cut taxes and regulation for the upper class and industry. Will that create job, a few in the short run, but in the long run without regulation greed will destroy entire system. Do you think China does not have regulation? If an executive hurts the stock holders for greed in China, he is rewarded with a bullet to the back of the head. That is a system that works!

She's right. President did not have any new plan or can't think of one so he re-used old plan that failed to create jobs and increase national deficit. This plan is just like welfare program to give out money and when the money ran out we'll be in deep hole again.

How irresponsible of her to make a statement like that. The American people are suffering and all she thinks to say is some self serving, party serving unhelpful nonsense that we do not need. She will not be president. She is headed for the born again circuit and that is it. So go away, michellle.

And here I thought the lower pay and lack of benefits, including health insurance were big reasons to not stay on unemployment. Thanks for pointing out the flaws in my beliefs Michelle.

The people collecting unemployment should be made to work 20 hours a week at some kind of community clean up or other work, leaving them plenty of time to look for a job. Get something for that money.
