Washington (CNN) – As it considers President Barack Obama's $447 billion jobs plan, many members of a divided Congress appeared Friday to be in a compromising mood, seemingly eager to placate voters sick of infighting and inaction when it comes to jumpstarting the economy.
Top House Republicans - who have butted heads with Obama and his fellow Democrats on most every major policy effort since taking over the chamber early this year - went into the speech reserving judgment, and struck a collaborative tone after listening to the president's laundry list of proposals.
The only reason they've decided to ACT like they're willing to compromise is b/c their afraid they could get voted out of office Not b/c they really care one bit about America's ppl What do the Repubs do w/ the Teaparty who refuse to have it any way but they're's period
I`ll expect EVERYTHING to be paid for in real time – that means NOW. At the top of this list is TAX CUTS.
Republicans will have to quantitatively answer the question; is there a net BENEFIT to the things they propose? There can be no SIMPLE MINDED assumption that tax cuts are good and spending is bad.
Now maybe small business does create most of the jobs but isn`t that because they LOSE MOST of the JOBS? Small businesses FAIL. They are more volatile than larger firms. Also I know many sole proprieters whom the Republicans refer to as a small business that don`t hire ANYBODY and yet they exploit the tax system while adding no societal value. If the GOP wants to be taken seriously, where is the accountability on these fronts?
Perhaps the Republicans should give in to prove to the country what a horribly, disasterous dunce the libertards stole the election for in 2008. So far this incompetent, inept, union toady president has stolen billions of dollars to give to the corrupt union thiugs and now he is asking for another half a trillion more to compund his failure and intensify the theft of funding from hard working Americans who have accepted persoal responsibility for their lives. When he says share the pain on taxes does that mean his lazy, welfare fraud supporters who can't and won't get jobs because they can't pass a drug test will start actually paying taxes? Remember this is also before the big theft and huge tax increases for Obozocare kick in. Another giveaway to the lazy, irresponsible constituency of this Kenyan village idiot.
if nothing else perhaps the GOP is starting to look at their approval ratings with the American people and have finally decided to act. It had continued to appear that after the Republicans won the House in 2010 after promising jobs, jobs, JOBS they have done little to nothing to help produce some. It looked as though they cared more about party than the pain many are feeling here and the president on national television called them out on it. Sure he won't get all he wants, not the 98% like Bohener claimed he got in July, but at least it's a start to end the No..No No the Repubs have done the past 2 years.
Rick Scott in FL said he is not sure he would take the money if the bill passes. I hope the people in FL got what they voted for.
You're either WITH us or AGAINST us. Right?
They're lying. They will amend, stall, then vote HELL NO.
They may fool YOU, but they don't fool ME. They want back in the white house so bad they are willing to kill the country to get in.
Vote straight Democrat in 2012. Or lose the U.S. you've known all your life - TO CORPORATIONS AND KOCH BROS.
Boehner – just a few weeks ago "I got 98% of what I wanted". Under the "I". He's not one of us – he's FASCIST.
@CB FLA – we Floridians got our criminal governor because people stayed home and did not vote. The republicans are using this a a model for their 'suppress the vote efforts,' as that is the only way they can win.
Boehner – just a few weeks ago "I got 98% of what I wanted". Underscore the "I". He's not one of us – he's FASCIST, and cares ONLY for his pockets and his corporate buddies.
@laura – I agree with you 100%. Tantrum boy cantor's district might be hit by a bigger earthquake and he is going to need big government money. His rant about not giving money to hurricane striken areas, same as for the tornadoes, has not gone over that well even with his followers. I just hope the people in VA wake up and throw his skinny butt out next election!
GOP is bunch of idiots...o.k, I hate this Erick Cantor, he is the bastard, VA please get rid of this idiot.....I think we need stringent immigration, and esply to India, and Pakistan, o.k, These idiots know how to through grenades...bombs...
They can not afford repeating the same mistake as they did during the debt ceiling in summer. People were very annoyed and still are. No one is happy to strangle themselves!
