Jindal to endorse Perry

mug.preston

Tampa, Florida (CNN) – Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal is backing Rick Perry for president, a major endorsement for the Texas governor as the campaign for the Republican nomination enters the crucial fall stretch of the primary calendar, a source tells CNN.

Jindal is on his way to Florida and will be Perry's guest at Monday night's "Tea Party Republican Debate" broadcast on CNN from Tampa, the source said. Jindal is expected to formally make the announcement prior to the debate.

On Monday, Sept. 12th, CNN will broadcast the "Tea Party Republican Debate," live from Tampa, Florida at 8 p.m. ET. Follow all the issues and campaign news leading up to the debate on CNNPolitics.com and @cnnpolitics on Twitter.

Jindal released a statement Monday saying, “Rick Perry is the candidate who can lead our party to victory in 2012."

“His record on job creation simply cannot be beat, and the one million jobs he’s helped create as governor is a stark contrast to the 2.4 million jobs lost on President Obama’s watch."

Earlier in the day, Tim Pawlenty endorsed his one-time rival, former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, for the GOP nomination. Pawlenty, a former Minnesota governor who dropped out of the race last month, will be Romney's guest at the debate.

An interview with Jindal will air exclusively Monday evening on CNN's "John King, USA."

It sort of looks like a Blue vs. Grey contest is starting to shape up in Florida. Interesting.

Jindal is another deceptive conservative, just like most of them. Does anyone remember that disconnected rebuttal he gave a couple of years ago? It pretty much ended any chance he will get to run for POTUS.

Would this be the same Perry whose donars pay his $10,000 a month rent, send him on pricey vacations, buy his cowboy boots, and on and on and on? Sure hope he doesn't talk about personal responsibility.

    The Big Oil Brothers !

Bobby Jindal knows how to grease the pole !

The both take stimulus money , then disagree with admitting why they took it !

Perry will be our next president unfortunately , he was chosen by BIG money along time ago , bought and paid for !

Yeah yeah...big suprise...Booby Jingle, southern conservative GOPernatorial ideologue who is trying to raid the Lousiana's state employee health care program for the $500M surplus it's last manager created by managing it so unbelieveably well (he was promptly fired for opposing Jingle's nonsense)...all under the guise of privatizing it because government "can't do anything right"...shows solidarity with a fellow southern conservative nutjob. Color me shocked.

Who cares what a washed up never-was like Bobby Jindal thinks about the candidates or who he endorses? This race has already scraped through the bottom of the barrel and is now just digging up earthworms and bugs. After all, until very recently it was all a primary about who wanted to get their brains beaten out by Obama in the general election.

One do nothing Southern Governor endorsing another. Both states have high numbers of uninsured citizens and rank as two of the worst. Texas dropped from 39th to 40th in heath care (United Heath Foundation). Both states have high debt. Texas went from surplus to approx $27B in debt. I would think the rest of the country would want to strive for much more than what Texas and Louisiana achieved for it's citizens.

Making it illegal for women to go to school. WIth any luck at all (although Pyush is not really what the Tea Baggers view as one of them) Pyush will run as Perry's VP and we will be rid of him in Louisiana.

The moron endorsing the idiot, isn't that swell. The thing that I like about this being a TParty sponsored debate for Republican Candidates is it finally removes any doubts that the Republican Party and the Tparty are the same and that the Republican party has now fully shown itself to be the party of lies, hypocrisy, ignorance, stupidity, hate, and exploitation, while favoring tax cuts to the rich and corporations and tax increases for everyone else. The real slogan of the Republican/Tparty should be "Making the World Safe for Exploitation."

Here’s a funny: the Republican/Tparty claims to hate what they call bailouts to business but don’t mind giving tax cuts to business. In other words they don’t mind giving money to those who don’t need it but they can’t stand helping those who do. And what did the bush tax cuts get us: millions of jobs and industry sent to China.

How did Perry ever get elected to anything? Did the voters never see him, hear him or talk to him in person? Go ahead and make him your candidate, and you will be utterly destroyed. The government is for the people in the middle, the idea being to keep extremism out of people's lives and government policy. Imposing your religion and beliefs on everyone else is the definition of tyranny, not a fitting trait for the supposed "leader of the free world".

The Govenor of Louisiana endorses the likes of someone who believes creationism is valid enough to teach in our schools and Social Security is nothing but a Ponzi scheme. Pyush aka "Bobby" Jindal, thoroughly embarrassed about his own heritage, now wants to hang with the "big mouth and wide strut" guys from Texas. Best bet is that Jindal knows he's so much smarter if not any less unethical that the bubbas that he could be angling for a Dick Cheney type vp bid where he really gets to run the show since Jindal can at least figure out where all those other pesky countries are located. Then again, Rick "the Hair" Perry might just have Pyush washing the White House windows should the country go into a full blown psychotic episode and elect Perry.

Progressives want to drown america in their immoral, unethical, atheistic cesspool. They use the word 'science' as if science agrees with their ideology (most are not scientist). Have they ask the pertinent questions or are they just parroting the mantra, talking points of their political masters. They speak of education or the lack there of- history will tell you that education in america was championed not by progressives but by religious conservatives- how's that for fact. Progressives you are being brainwashed even hypnotized by the progressive talking heads. Wake up to freedom.

  113. Voice of Reason

DrSheilahere – I'll tell you what i dont like about Perry. He has time and again taken a position that science doesnt matter, that ideology trumps reason (see his stance on global climate change or intelligent design for details). He's flip-flopped on many many issues, including his stance on social security (which he apparently hates in his book, but defends in interviews, but lambasts again in debates, and will aggree with just enough to keep from alienating senior votors). He continually blames the current administration for issues that any reasoning person would dig into and see are the result of many years' worth of bad decisions. He not only approves of the recent unprecedented redistribution of wealth from the middle class to the rich, he advocates more of it – see his positions on taxes. He publicly prays for rain in a packed stadium because there are wildfires burning for the last 400+ days in Texas, yet HE is the one who cut the forest service budget by 30%... The Texas jobs miracle he keeps going on about is anything but – Texas has one of the lowest literacy rates in the nation, and has the highest percent of the workforce in jobs that are at or below minimum wage – Some miracle.

In short – you could fill bookshelves with what this guy doesnt know about running a country. Does that answer your question?

Why can't a liberal ever state what they are for or against? It is always name calling. It does not move the discussion anywhere. If you do not like Perry, say why. State your case against him.

I don't like Perry because he is a fraud, he campaigned on us not having budget issues and guess what.....we do to the tune of 27 Billion, more that California, I don't like Perry because he sold our highways to a private Spanish company (from Spain), and took land under eminent domain to do so. I don't like Perry because he mandated 12yr old girls get vaccinations after being paid by the company to do so. In a nutshell, I have just shown you that Perry is not a fiscal conservative, does not respect private property and madated we buy something. Everything that the tea party says they are for he has done completely opposite. I'm liberal, so that should make it even worse, Perry used to be liberal for Gore in the 90s. Perry is a fraud just like Bachmann and her government handouts and Romney and his Romneycare, all of which make these 3 pledge signers unelectable based on tea party conservative values, which is why we wonder how truthful that movement is if any of these 3 frauds get the nomination.

  125. Timothy Bladel

I dream of a day where there is no fear mongering liberal sadist left in government, who has no idea what this country is, or what made it as great as it is. Liberals either spew ad nauseam rhetoric that makes no sense to any objective observer, or they start to show what egoistic brainless drug abusers they really are. Not one of them can see straight enough to examine an issue clearly enough to see the whole picture. They claim to be the altruistic bunch, but show their futilitarian ways with every bill they either ask for or push towards legislation. No doubt Obama is good with the cadences, chalked with inimical rhetoric, but other than blaming others for the lack of shovel ready jobs, he has no new solutions. If liberalism was so superior then they would not need these canards they call arguments. Each and every premise on this thread from a lefty is erroneous, and lacks any valid arguments, with deductive logic. They are claiming all the wealthy are Bourgeoisie, but then deny their Marxist tendencies. The lefts obsolescence is near, which is good for the rest of the world. Maybe after we will see the generations of minorities finally see the fruition of all their hard work. The left will not have the constant message of hopelessness, and finally use the opportunities that have been offered to them. There will be no more liberal conjecturing, and policy can be based off of empirical data that is not manipulated by the very forces that see monetary gain when they are in power. Look to Goldman Sachs when you wonder why those who helped destroy the economy are sitting free. The unwarranted loans that ending result was wide spread economic panic. This led to the candidate of hope and change, but reality gave us fear and endless hopelessness.

Wow! That is a shocker. Governor Jindal is moving even farther to the right. Coming from an Ivy League education to supporting Rick Perry is quite a road to travel. Going from a Governor who needed tons of support after Katrina and the oil spill is now joining forces with Perry, a man who would do away with the money.

Governor Jindal, like most TEA Party members and those who are very conservative would like us to change immigration even though their ancestors were most likely immigrants and arrived here in many different ways. They have issues with Social Security which would help to put an end to that money for those who are retired and those to follow. He is an advocate for closing down FEMA, for lowering the amount of money going to social action programs, health insurance rules and regulations, and more.

When I read some of the comments I began to wonder why they keep writing that this is just liberals speaking. I am not a liberal, I do have very strong values, I am religious, and my family is very precious to me. Please comment on the story and stop spending so much times pitching battles.

There has to be something he is working toward on the national level. After the debate tonight, Jindal's gotta be regretting that move. Don't jump on an untested horse, it might throw you.

Piyush Amrit Jindal and his ridiculous exaggerated accent would make a perfect running mate for Perry, that's probably the deal, we'll have to wait and see.

Being from Louisiana, I couldn't vote for either of these to buffoons in their respective political races. Most of Jindal's war chest for his re-election campaign has come from supporters from other states. He has not done much of anything in the state of Louisiana, except cut healthcare and education. And from what I've seen from Perry, he hasn't the sense to lead a bunch of goats across the plains, much less a whole nation. he's filled Texas with minimum wage jobs, and empty prayers for rain and economic health while his state burns from wild fires and is going deeper and deeper into an abyss of a deficit. You actually want this man as the POTUS????????

ONE QUESTION: What percentage of jobs created in Texas, since 2009, were public sector, not private?

I like Gov Perry. However, Obama has done so much damage that the next President of our nation is going to have to be a smart, savvy, tough, problem solver, able to stand up to the special interests. That person is Gov Chris Christie of NJ. It will require a huge sacrifice from Gov Christie and his family, but the nation needs that sacrifice like never before. I think Gov Christie is a true patriot and will make the sacrifice The nation truly needs Gov Christie! Christie / Rubio 2012!!!!

Reason #200 why I'm proud I voted the way I did in 2008, and why I'm voting for Obama AGAIN in 2012. None of the GOP candidates have ANYONE who is even halfway decent enough to run, since all they know how to do is argue and fight amongst each other. A party with no sense of solidarity is a broken party. There's no way any of these candidates can even come close to winning, even after they win the nomination. Obama 2012!

For an outspoken critic of President Obama, he must really want to see him back in the White House after making an endorsement like that. Just goes to prove what I've always said, who gives a toss what Bobby Jindal has an opinion on. He sure doesn't have any problem taking Federal money when that earthen bowl New Orleans gets flooded. Didn't bother to turn down stimulus money either.

Jindal has NEVER endorsed a winning candidate. He probably wants Perry to lose.

I thought Jindal had some thoughtful thinking . But looks like not. That is why he is done with LA governor. May be Perry can pick him for VP.
