CNNMoney: Poverty rate rises in America
Amid a still struggling economy, more people in America fell below the poverty line last year, according to new census data released Tuesday. The nation's poverty rate rose to 15.1% in 2010, its highest level since 1993. …The government defines the poverty line as income of $22,314 a year for a family of four and $11,139 for an individual.
CNN: TSA rolling out new screening procedures for children
Responding to the uproar over physical searches of children, the Transportation Security Administration is rolling out new procedures that should reduce, although not eliminate, the number of times children are patted down at airport checkpoints.
New York Times: North Carolina Voters to Decide on Same-Sex Marriage
It is already illegal for people of the same sex to marry in North Carolina. If the amendment passes, it will serve to reinforce that ban and make it more difficult for future legislatures to extend marriage rights to gay and lesbian couples.

CNN: Taliban attack in central Kabul ends
A nearly day-long Taliban siege on the U.S. Embassy and NATO command in Kabul ended early Wednesday, said Siddiq Siddiqi, an Afghan Interior Ministry spokesman. Six militants have been killed and the building they were firing from has been cleared, he said.
