Washington (CNN) - The reactions range from gloom-and-doom predictions to big countdown parties and smaller celebrations to ho-hum business-as-usual as the U.S. military changes its rules Tuesday and allows gay men and lesbians to serve openly.
A minute into the new day, 12:01 a.m., the old "don't ask, don't tell" rule that has been in force since the Clinton administration is gone.
If the men and women in the armed forces don't have a problem with it, then why should I? Who am I to tell them that their comrade who would die for them is not a good soldier because of their sexual orientation. It is not my place to do so, but some believe that it is their *obligation* to make them conform to their world view; and they call themselves conservatives.
If the service men and women in the armed forces don't have a problem with a gay comrade risking their live to safe theirs, why should politicians have a problem with it?
Congratulations to my Gay brothers and sisters. Thank you for enduring, persevering and serving our nation.
We are ALL his children. God bless.
Oh, and thank you too Mr. President!
There is not a gay perso alive, including those "Log Cabin" Republicans that does not OWE the Obama Administration their vote in 2012 & 2014.
The GOP has been and CONTINUES to be hostile to gays. They may not openly beat them to death like Matthew Shepard, but Republicans are still the Party that COURTS the people that would, if they could get away with it, hurt, hold back or kill homosexuals. Where is all that patriotism that the GOP pays lip service to? "All men [people] are created equal – Ha, that`s a joke!
If gays vote Republican, they are an ungrateful bunch that would sell their souls to the devil. What matter`s more? Your life & freedom or your Tax Break? I guess now that your life is safe, you can ditch the Liberals.
