Paul going back up on airwaves with million dollar buy

Washington (CNN) - Rep. Ron Paul is once again doing what the other presidential campaigns apparently are not doing: Spending lots of money to run commercials on broadcast and cable television.

The longtime Republican congressman from Texas is going up with a new sixty second ad that touts Paul's work supporting military veterans. Paul's campaign says the total ad buy is over a million dollars, and that the commercial will run nationally before Thursday night's presidential debate in Orlando, Florida, and then will run on broadcast and cable TV in New Hampshire, Iowa, Nevada and South Carolina, the first four states to vote in the primary and caucus calendar. The campaign says the "message will shift in 10 days to new creative and continue for a total of four weeks."

The ad points out that Paul is a military veteran and one of the veterans in the commercial says that "Ron Paul is a veteran's best friend."

Paul's new ad buy stands in contrast with the lack of paid commercials being put up on the airwaves or cable by the other campaigns, including those of Texas Gov. Rick Perry and former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, who are one and two in all the most recent national polls in the race for the GOP nomination. Paul places third in a bunch of those national surveys.

"Dr. Paul has consolidated his third place position in this race and we now looking to move voters now and challenge Perry and Romney in what has become a three way race," Paul presidential campaign chairman Jesse Benton told CNN.

This appears to be the fourth time the Paul campaign has gone up with a paid ad buy. In July, Paul ran a commercial in Iowa, New Hampshire and Nevada highlighting his opposition to raising the nation's debt ceiling.

In mid August, just three days after nearly winning a crucial Republican presidential straw poll in Ames, Iowa, Rep. Paul went up with a television commercial in Iowa and New Hampshire that grouped Perry, Romney, and Rep. Michele Bachmann of Minnesota with President Barack Obama and the top two Democrats in Congress.

Earlier this month, the Paul campaign said they spent six figures to go up with an ad in Iowa and New Hampshire that contrasted Paul's support for Ronald Reagan in 1980 to Perry's support of Al Gore's bid for the Democratic presidential nomination eight years later. Perry was a conservative Democrat at the time.

He had a chance until he said that Iran should be able to have nukes, that statement along with Levine and Limbaugh downplaying him, is what will make him fail.

His ideas go against the elite and are impossible to implement as that he won't be able to get the votes.

He won't be able to close guantanamo, he won't be able to audit or abolish the fed, he won't be able to legalize anything, and he definitely won't be able to end the lobbying.

So given the reality of how possible his ideas are to be implemented, Mr. Paul is finished, thanks for coming and drive safe.

So you prefer more of the status quo? I'll take my chances with a man that has a plan that will buck the establishment. Iran should have nukes because they can't cause the US any harm and will force Israel to fight for themselves. I don't hate Israel but if America just let them do what needed to be done Iran would never stand a chance at getting the bomb.

How could anyone in their right minds support this pagan of pagans? Evil is as evil does. He has no respect for the office or anyone in it. Why should he even be considered in the same breath? If he does all that he wants to do and that is a big IF because Congress would never allow it then there won't be any need for a PRESIDENT or CONGRESS. It will be people against the rich and famous and the rich will win. Total anarchy.

LOL, how ridiculous. The man just gave physicals to pilots in the Air Force, and they're trying to make people think he was a pilot himself. More lies and distortion from Tea Party Patient Zero.

The man has received MORE donations from active duty service men and women than the current Commander in Chief (Obama) himself!

Or another way to look at it, he's received more donations from active duty service men and women than ALL the other candidates COMBINED.

Keep gossiping about his age and ignoring the fact that THIS is the man who will restore America.

Paul is BIG on words and EMPTY on reality.

Some things are just totally unrealistic. No president can come into office and just END a war/wars. President Obama found that out real quick and so will Paul. The truth is George Bush left this country in a MESS. A mess we can't get out of in 2 1/2 years. He (Paul) acts as if the presidency is a dictatorship and he can end any and all programs and write his own set of laws. The world IS NOT a simple place and while some of his intentions might be well – in order to protect the US and its interests he would just have to play along with the Washington establishment. Even if he were 30 years younger his ideas are just not possible and totally unsustainable.

It is not 1950 anymore and Paul would be wise to accept that and quit pretending to be some special "force" sent to clean up Washington for it will NEVER happen.

He "can't do this" and "can't do that" and "there's no way". Fine, vote whoever you want into office and watch them pick up exactly where Bush and Obama left off. More of the same? OH YES PLEASE! I for one love this recession and that my dollar isn't worth a damn anymore! Your ignorance and laziness is a disgrace.

    Rudy NYC said:
"Being racist is an expression of your freedom of speech. Get rid of Social Security and Medicare, and let people use private enterprise, which are the reason those programs were created in the first place, BTW. No regulations of any kind on industries. No seperation of church and state. Legalizing marijuana is not so bad, but making it legal for anyone to buy any type of firearm is horrific. There's more, much more, far to much list on this blog."

Wow, Rudy...Kill you TV dude and do some research! Or at least back up those lies with some facts or proposed legislation that Dr. Paul has put forth...oh that's can't.
Ron Paul has my vote! And people, Dems and Repubs alike, are turning toward his message every day. Check into facts and support the candidate the troops overwhelmingly support! RON PAUL 2012!

I am switching to the republican party to vote for Ron Paul, even though I have never liked anyone who wasn't a Democrat. But I always said if a true republican ran for president I would vote for them. Someone who believed in SMALLER govt and getting out of the business of policing the world. He's my man and I don't care if he's 112. I will vote for him and I pray he wins. He's the only one who can save us

That right there is the problem with this country, people wanting to pick our leader based on vanity. This isn't feccing homecoming or the high school prom. Ideas and plans, that's what it should be about, not age, not looks, not pretty slogans.

Ron Paul: "Don't let the government take your money! Instead, give it all to me so I can flush it down the toilet with my campaign to get rid of social security, public schools, health care, police officers, roads, drug-free zones, disaster ad, clean air & water, civil rights, the right to choose, and support for the troops!"

By what stretch of the imagination is Ron Paul 3rd in the GOP race? He wins nearly every poll he is in, that is unless CNN doesn't like the outcome and uses a National Journal poll instead of public opinion polls. Won California straw poll, came within 1% of winning Iowa straw poll and he didn't bribe his voters like Bachmann did, won CPAC poll, won SRLC poll, won Iowa online straw poll, won Iowa GOP debate, won debate at Reagan presidential library...should I keep going? I'll vote for your civil liberties even if you don't.

    RP 2012!

Obviously, this geek did not learn from the Michael Dukakis debacle when he looked like a errant Munckin from the set of Wizard of Oz in a tank.

This goob looks even goofier standing by a plane with that hat especially when that as is close to plane he got in his entire time in the service.

Surgical garb in an operating room would have been more truthful and much more dignified.

It's a shame that most everyone in the USA is not happy with a great deal of what is going on. Look at the Presidential and Congressional approval ratings that verify this fact! Yet, a great deal of you all find a way to convince yourselves that Ron Paul can't win. Ron Paul wants to let people die. Ron Paul this, Ron Paul that.... Ron Paul is too old... BLAH BLAH BLAH.... WAKE UP... WAKE UP.... WAKE UP!!!!!

Quit crying, whining, and b**ching to your friends and family if you are not going to vote for the ONLY logical choice we have as citizens for returning this country back to the REPUBLIC for WHICH IT STANDS. Not the socialistic states of America or what is soon to become the Socialistic North America, as the system will soon try and merge both the USA, Canada, and Mexico as one union. If you don't believe this merge is true study the trans continental highway that is currently being built as a corridor from Canada all the way through the USA and into Mexico...

Do your homework people, quit listening to the MSM, which has been bought by the 'money elite' at the top of the establishment.

Think, Research, Think, Research... Choose... Ron Paul 2012 or lose your liberties and freedoms as you know them!
