Cain: Black community 'brainwashed' into voting for Dems

Washington (CNN) - The one African-American running for the GOP presidential nomination said Wednesday the black community was 'brainwashed' for traditionally siding with liberal politicians.

"African-Americans have been brainwashed into not being open minded, not even considering a conservative point of view," Godfather's Pizza executive Herman Cain said on CNN's "The Situation Room" in an interview airing Wednesday between 5-7 p.m. ET. "I have received some of that same vitriol simply because I am running for the Republican nomination as a conservative. So it's just brainwashing and people not being open minded, pure and simple."

Cain went on to explain that his interactions with African Americans led him to be optimistic about his own chances with the demographic.

"This whole notion that all African-Americans are not going to vote for Obama is not necessarily true," Cain said.

He continued, "I believe a third [of African-Americans] would vote for me, based on my own anecdotal feedback. Not vote for me because I'm black but because of my policies."

Cain also weighed in on the recent chatter surrounding Chris Christie, saying the recent reports the New Jersey governor is reconsidering a run for president were hurting the electorate.

"It's not insulting as much as it is a disservice to the American people," Cain said. "Chris Christie has been saying for a long time he's not interested in running. The media is trying to create a story by sucking Chris Christie into race, just like they made a story by sucking Rick Perry into the race."

Cain said the media should focus on the candidates who have already declared their candidacy to give voters a better idea of the field.

Watch The Situation Room with Wolf Blitzer weekdays at 4pm to 6pm ET and Saturdays at 6pm ET. For the latest from The Situation Room click here.

I think only Cain is in the brainwashed camp.
Come to think of it. Which is easier? Brainwashing a large number of people to support Democrats or brainwashing just Cain to think he is a Republican?
Simple statistics and math can answer that!

President Lincoln freed the slaves, a republican..never could understand why the same people who were unyolked from their bondage by a republican president, turned their back on that party to allign themselves with the democrats..don't get me wrong, people can do as they please,..but this defies logic..where is Lou Dobbs when an explanation is needed..

    1) Herman.... do you KNOW what Republican'ts call you behind your back? Check on it... Then, ask the Log Cabin Republicans how included they feel within the party.

    2) You are only as relevant to the Republican party as the one black friend a racist uses to not be called racist. They couldn't care less what your vision is. And, please be ready to take the fall should you be involved in the next Presidential Term... how can you NOT see what is happening to Obama and not equate it with good ole boy politics (Corporate America diversity training is the best you can expect from your fellow Republicans.

    3) "African-Americans have been brainwashed into not being open minded, not even considering a conservative point of view," "So it's just brainwashing and people not being open minded, pure and simple."

Open Minded means that we INDEED see the conservative point of view and offer a more LIBERAL APPROACH. You cannot be conservative and open minded.. That's like saying you are a frugal gambler. While I am happy to see African American men within BOTH PARTIES, I must offer a different view of who is BRAINWASHED... Hello Herman... you have soap foam coming out of your ears....

Cain is a puppet. A puppet a nice PR stunt that the tea baggers have come up with to proove they are not racist. Remember Micheal Steele? he was a puppet too.

    Hey Herman,

Let's talk (and be opened minded) about the 'Southern Strategy'.

Then, maybe.....just maybe.....you'll come to understand why Blacks generally won't vote for Republican candidates.....even Black Republicans (LOL.....LMAO!).

    To: Cain is right on!

You my little boy are so white I need my sunglasses. Maybe you haven't noticed but there haven't been a whole hell of lot of people of color running for president.

It's funny to me that the only people that seem to think there is no discrimination or racism in this country happen to be white men. Women know it, people of color know it – but the white guys just don't experience it. Lucky them.

Cain is brainwashed to think the GOP will actually embrace a 'person of color'.

Just read the Faux News blogs for a minute, they are imploding. Trying to hide their hate & racism, their antics are whackier than ever.

As soon as all Blacks get wealthy enough to benefit from tax cut for the rich policies, they'll be right there with you Mr. Cain. You know better! We can see right through you, making a statement you know will grab a headline and maybe get some traction in the hopes of getting a few more black votes. What exactly to you do to help the Black community? Maybe that's how you can try and gain Black votes next time?? BTW, you don't have a chance and you know it. You're doing nothing but feeding your ego with your money, since you can't spend it all.

What you'll never hear Republicans like Herman Cain say is that at one time, the GOP really was the progressive party in America, and the Democrats were the Party of No. That's right – during the 1960s, when the Civil Rights Movement was hitting its peak, it was Republicans joining with moderate and liberal Democrats to pass the legislation that started putting black folks in this country on equal footing. But it was the conservative elements of the Democratic Party – people like Jesse Helms, for example – who defected and took their racism and prejudice to the Republican side.

Of course, I'd never vote for Herman Cain in any event. The fact that he's a conservative black man doesn't bother me in the least. But what bothers me is that his bias against Muslims, which would include many native-born black Americans who have eschewed Christianity, would preclude them from any important positions in his government. If anyone should know what it's like to be discriminated against, it's a black man as old as Herman Cain. Somewhere along the line, he forgot what being black is about.

"Is Cain as much of an prejudiced fool as he seems?"

He thinks the uniqueness of his conservatism/republicanism makes him exceptional. It's that simple. It's part of the narcissism that tag along with the antisocial personality disorder that makes him a contemporary Republican. They didn't all used to be like this. Heck, Teddy Roosevelt faught tooth and nail to destroy the "Trusts" and was one of the biggest foes in history of giant oligarchic corporate power and the dangers it represented to our democracy, personal freedoms and liberties and the proverbial "American Dream." This new crop is the EXACT opposite.

He says that Blacks have been brainwashed. Does that mean he things they're stupid? He also says: African-Americans have been brainwashed into not being open minded, not even considering a conservative point of view" That's an oxymoron if I've ever heard one. Since when has a conservative had an open mind? I've yet to meet one and likely never will.
