SS has to be revamped, made into private accounts, and made inaccessible to the government, as a money source for government, to spend ELSEWHERE!

The system is in trouble because the trust fund was designed to run at a surplus during its' early decades. Then we started spending it. I will never forget how Ronald Reagan said, "This is the people's money. We should give this money back to the people."

And then he proceeded to give a generous tax cut to the wealthiest people in this country. In case you were not paying attention, the middle class paid into the fund and the wealthy recieved the funds. Reagan took out so much, that he actually set the fund on the path towards bankruptcy. Google this. "reagan fix social security" to find out more, and just how badly the fund was damaged.

General tax revenues are still trying to pay the fund back to this day as more funds have been withdrawn. Google 'iraq war social security" to find out more.

President Obama put a final stop to the practice and put the cost of the wars back on the books. Unfortunately, we cannot afford these wars because Bush-43 became the first US president in history to start a war and *not raise taxes* to pay for it, irregardless of party. Google "john mccain iraq tax cuts' to find out more. Sen. McCain stood on the Senate floor and blasted the Bush administration for the policy, and rightfully so.
