Obama: No regrets over Solyndra

(CNN) - President Obama Monday said he does not regret a half-billion dollar government loan to the now-bankrupt solar energy company Solyndra and vigorously defended his administration's policy of providing assistance to similar entities.

"No I don't," the president said when asked directly if he regretted the $535 billion federal loan guarantee in 2009. "Because if you look at the overall portfolio of loan guarantees that had been provided, overall it's doing well. And what we always understood is that not every single business is going to succeed in clean energy."

Finally some honesty out of Washington D.C. Love or Hate Obama's policies, if your reading this you must agree that we need more honesty from our elected leaders. If they can't be honest we need to remove them by any means.

Well said Mr President . The notion that somehow failure is a bad thing or that any business is meant to flourish and succeed is ridiculous. Life is not a long quiet river full of roses . Failure preceed success and there is always light at the end of the tunnel. God bless

After all liberals think Government is supposed to be in the green energy business. This is pathetic and sad our Presidnet has so little regard for our money. We should not been involved in the first place and this makes more convinced than ever that I will max our my contributions to the GOP nominee running against the Statist and Chief. We have gotten so far from the original intent of government we seem to be losing our mind.

Liberals and Green Weenies drive me insane! What is the land ratio per KiloWatt of nuclear power versus solar farm? How many Americans have been killed (35) by wind energy vs nuclear (0). If everyone got an rechargeable car tonight, would our power grid be sufficient to charge them all tonight? As a Conservative though, I believe if we ended all subsidies to Oil Companies and made the oil companies pay for their own "security" getting oil out of dangerous countries, then perhaps gasoline would be what it really should be, about $15 per gallon, then Green Energy looks better (even without subsidies). Dear YOU decide:

I notice you haven't complained about the rest of the corporate welfare the GOBP has been shoveling out for the last decade. Halliburton ring a bell?

I already corrected this on Twitter but you and other sources incorrectly report a $535 BILLION loan guarantee when it should be MILLION. Perhaps, if CNN has any value left, it should try to find out if the GOP pushed this error in their speaking, writing and their faxes. Google [Solyndra "$535 billion"] and note how often the error appears.

Rudy, another poor showing from you today with facts. Solyndra listed the California Democratic Party among their creditors. Exec's pleading the 5th, Close ties to Obama. It's another case of the fraudulent waste of taxpayers money, and in an election year... And Obama has no regrets? If that's not telling, I don't know what is.

Why should you as always it's not your money it was ours.

I hear the Repubs getting slammed but you Mr. Obama do not deserve to be where you are today.

Your jobs bill like every other bill you want or have rammed down our throats are just more ways to waste our hard earned tax dollars. You should be held accountable for every dollar you have wasted but that will never happen.

I hope the voters wake up and see you have made a change for the worse not better. I don't know of one promise you made during you election that you have made come true yet.

If this goes through no doubt I will hear feedback but this country is in the worst shape it has ever been thanks to you.

You said the buck stops with you but you only find a way to pass the buck.

Thanks but no thanks for another four years our Country can't afford it.

Again, all you neocon death cultists refuse to admit that the GOBP has been the worst offender when it comes to doling out corporate welfare. Why can't you admit to the truth? Does it hurt to much or are you simply that brainwashed?

I think it's funny that everybody seems to understand that this company failing after receiving millions from the fed. But if GM or Chrysler have another run of bad sales, the feds will continue to bail them out. Why the double standard, if solyndra can fail because of a bad business model, and bad marketing, why can't the same be said of the big 3 auto makers......ohhhh wait thats uion jobs that would be lost.

Why should he have any regrets? Bush and Cheney killed innocent people and to this day – have not apologized FOR ANYTHING. In fact, they live high on the hog (secret service, book sales, etc.) – that's right folks WE pay for it. YOU and I. This is what I've been waiting for Mr. President – NO REGRETS. I'm loving it.
