(CNN) - Three Florida legislators and former Tim Pawlenty backers endorsed Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney Wednesday.
The former Massachusetts governor announced the support of Speaker Designate Will Weatherford and Reps. Chris Dorworth and Richard Corcoran in a statement that coincides with his visit to the Sunshine State.
"They are the current and future leaders of the Republican Party in Florida. As I visit the state and reach out to voters, I look forward to working with these leaders to fix our economy and bring jobs back to Florida," Romney said in the written announcement. "They share my pro-growth agenda and with their help, we can defeat President Obama in 2012."
Florida bucked national Republican Party rules last week by deciding to hold their primary on Jan. 31, a move designed to increase its importance in the presidential nominating process.
Pawlenty, the former Minnesota governor, dropped out of the presidential race in August and rallied behind Romney shortly after his announcement.
Team Romney also announced the support of Alabama House Speaker Mike Hubbard Wednesday.
Although Alabama does not hold an early nominating contest like Florida, Romney said he is looking forward to bringing his "plan for economic recover and job creation to Alabama and the country."

Longtime Illinois Rep. to step down in 2012
What was Gov. Romney's plan again? Oh, yeah. Tax cut our way to prosperity, and ignore the deficits that it creates. Point to the deficits as the problem, and disregard the fact that your tax cuts created the problem.
Oh, yeah. He endorses the Ryan Plan to turn Medicare into a voucher program, while not addressing the basic problem of the out of control cost of providing the actual health care. If someone doesn't have health insurance, it is okay to let them shoplift health care services that the rest of us must pay for. The reason we have Medicare is because insurers would not cover our seniors. So the government stepped up to the plate and said, "Insure your future health coverage with us, and we will guarantee its' future. We are not to make a profit on your money."
Oh, yeah. Privatize Social Security so that the experts on Wall Street can set themselves up for a hundred retirements while your investment gets lost at their casino. The whole point of Social Security is that people lost their savings for that exact reason. So they government stepped up to the plate and said, "Save your money with us, and we will guarantee its' future. We are not out to make a profit on *your* money."
Mittens is the new republican flavor of the day, Oatmeal. The Perry flavor is grits, so that makes pizza man Herb Cain look like he is going to be the nominee.
Yea! Hopefully soon we have a President Romney!
